the fact that there is no physical link between the 2 freaks me out a bit.. relying on a RF link to swap gears just leaves me a bit paranoid! I reckon you would be better off spending the $$ and getting a MV auto shift kit

Stagea Down On Power And Missing On Idle
ssshonky replied to sturb25's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
nobody has addressed his original query about missing on idle though .. cleaned the AFM lately? also - replaced the air filter lately? your throttle body could be a bit gummed up too. -
hmm- I beleive the connector they unplugged was to set it in 2wd mode- because I presume they only had a 2wd dyno. I think this is NOT a good way of doing it as it burns out the clutch pack. I hope they didnt leave it in 2wd mode and now its stuffed things!

I take my hat off to you for not lobbing a molotov cocktail thru their window long ago oh but hang on - then you would set your own car on fire! damn !
-
go 3 inch all the way- no sense in introducing any restrictions that are not needed we have a 3 inch full system now - not too noisy at all ! got the JJR Bellmouth and Cat - and we already had an existing 3 inch catback system good luck ! pm me if you need any details- I had a bit of screwing around to do to get it rught

Sheared Off Head Exhaust Manifold Studs...
ssshonky replied to PHT33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
even if you soaked em in lubricant / anti seize before? -
before you go on an exhaustive search - you might want to make sure that if you DID find a din pocket that deep that it wouldnt foul on anything behind it. there are usually all sorts of wires etc behind that pocket. so you might want to check it out I suppose if the original deck was a double din it SHOULD fit - as I am sure a double din unit would be deeper than 100mm
-
I *think* its for the space diversity antennas ( fancy way of saying 2 antennas located fairly close togeter -joined to give you a better chance at good reception )
-
a mate of mine from work recently got a plug and play HID kit off ebay- cost him something like $110 delivered- cant say how well they work as we have not instlled em yet. but the build quality looks pretty damned good- all silicone covers over the wires etc..
-
timing belts terrify me too - but apparently if you get the thing set up ok and obey the rules - ie keep an eye on where the pulleys are pointing etc- then your ok oh well - after the 100thou service you should be able to DIY it and reclaim the 2k
-
I know pretty much what the screws adjust - but - try and find a definative EASY guide as to how to adjust your headlights! I found some instructions once on how to do this - and its pretty farken hard!
-
umm .. I wouldnt agree with 1/2 hr to fit - they can be a b1tch to do as you gotta get SO much stuff out of the way before you do it. And if they were not familiar with an RB25DET it might take em twice that long . HALF AN HOUR to fit a fuel filter! WTF!! thats a massive ripoff Did they itemise the bill? if so maybe you could scan in and just blur out the workshop name. 2k - whoa baby! thats good motivation to learn to do it yourlself hey?

Stagea S2 - Aftermarket Dump Pipes
ssshonky replied to ssshonky's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
and I SWEAR that if I hooked a decat pipe to our stagea it would blow flames- almost no doubt at all ! I am going to sweet talk loretta into getting it dyno'd so we have a ROUGH idea of the AFR -
Stagea S2 - Aftermarket Dump Pipes
ssshonky replied to ssshonky's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
well the one we ended up getting is supposedly the r33 one- but fit just fine. in regards to the skew on the cat- its not just skewed on one plane - but also " runs down hill " as the exhaust fitter put it - but they chopped the flanges off the cat and rewelded them in the correct orientation and also put a slight angle in it to the cat lay flat and level well worth getting it modded if you ask me. but that COULD be something particular to our car. even paying the extra I still came out ahead over buying a more expensive dump pipe hope that helps [ quote name=webng' date='26 Aug 2008, 11:15 AM' post='4091831] Sorry to bring this back up, but I have a 2000 S2 Stagea and am thinking of getting the JJR Bellmouth 3" front/dump pipe mated with the 3" xforce hi-flow cat... So it's a direct fit with no buggering around now? Even with the skewed cat? -
Well dont forget that the timing belt should be done around that time too- so that can add greatly to the over all cost- perhaps you should list what WAS done then we can all have a look then pass judgement-
-
yeah., ours does that- and I would agree with keeping it why not just roll a window down 1/2 way if your working on the car? then if it DOES lock your ok . though having said that - ours will only self lock if you unlock the car via the remote - dont open any doors - then it re-arms itself after that. Perhaps you have a faulty door switch
-
ours did exactly the same thing - so I took it all apart- found there was a screw missing - replaced the screw with the nearest equivalent I could find - put it all back together again - and it started working!

Perth Stagea Cruise - Whos Keen Again?
ssshonky replied to unique1's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
well I was just thinking of mexican in freo - and a smalll cruise before hand. its a really good atmosphere in there- they can take a large-ish group and its close to a pub across the road for pre/post dinner drinks so thats all I Was going to do- I am not going to get too fixated on the cruise map - I mean i will try and make it interesting - but would be nice to just get people together and focus on the SOCIAL aspect of the group -
just over 2000 km - according to my trusty Garmin software! I did perth - melb in 33.5 hrs haha your a lucky bugger ! road trip AND a new stag! well done!

Perth Stagea Cruise - Whos Keen Again?
ssshonky replied to unique1's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
also - in my previous experience- if you give people too much flexibility re dates and venues it gets" all too hard " - so if I do get the go ahead to plan it it will probably be a case of - this is when its on and maybe a choice of 2 venues- -
Perth Stagea Cruise - Whos Keen Again?
ssshonky replied to unique1's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I Was just speaking to dale in regards to this I Wanted to put my hand up to organise a dinner and small cruise i was thinking the mexican place in freo - maybe a cruise up to monument hill -
perhaps dont do the above if the cat is still boiling hot from a spirited drive home!
-
well - how easy the job will be depends greatly on the quality of the catback you bought. if it was on a stock standard stagea before you will probably be fine! the only thing that might stuff you up is the orientation / roation of the flange that bolts onto the cat. Hopefully all the hangers are in place. Some of those exhaust bolts can be pretty tight to remove! good luck matey!
-
AAAH- get rid of that mushroom filter STAT - for some weird reason I hate them with a passion. probably cause over time they get old and fall apart ! oh and - why not put some rear subframe bushes in ( ie pineapples ) i found they helped - car feels quicker off the line.. but thanks for the entertaining read its been a long time since we picked up the stag and your post reminded me of the day ours arrived!

Someone Slap Some Sence Into My Friend
ssshonky replied to SKYL1N's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
or if he is REALLY hell bent on it despite all the comments above- tell him to use public transport most of the week - save big$$$ on parking and fuel - and drive the GTR only occasionally - or just have it as a weekender..
