  1. man just ditch the factory horn and install airhorns that play " la cucaracha"
  2. yeah.. I think a quick release box behind the seats might be a go. and Bobbehh.. I already have the amps ( and have an irrational hate of Sony amps ahaha) so I will have to make do with what I have.. as its not even a amp thats seen much action! the other thing is I might eventually have 3 amps to mount ( as they are doing front /rear / sub ) so I will also have to run wiring for the front and rear speakers. I am sure I will find the connectors so that I can make the front and rear speakers in one plug. and chook - yeh I saw that little area and might use that but I keep my tools and tiedown straps in there
  3. as the title suggests- I am looking for suggestions on where to mount a few amps in a C34 Stagea (s2) I would like to keep the back of the rear seats free of amps, so that if we want to use the full length of the cargo area we can ( to sleep in or carry a door etc ) I *think* one of the amps will fit under the passengers seat.. but never really too keen to mount it there just in case it catches fire. Another idea was to make a MDF box that goes behind the backs of the rear seats but sits ahead of the rear strut towers. Would obviously be triangular in cross section but rectangular looking at it from behind. I was thinking you could then mount the sub in the enclosure and maybe mount the amps to the side of that. Only thing against this are : A) will be quite heavy. B) I will need to work out a " quick release " cabling system so the entire box can be lifted out of the wagon when we need the room The 3rd option is to make a false floor .. but this will cost heaps and probably be heavier than a box behind the seat. Any suggestions anyone?
  4. so was it a 4wd or 2wd dyno?
  5. ok just got off the phone to the dude who made the swaybars apparently 22mm is right for the front of the stagea - if you go 24mm apparently they are too stiff and cause understeer ( NOT what we want ) also apparently if you put new shockies in there you experience the swaybars much more when you have new shocks. I Just found it odd as I know the SK group buy had 24mm fronts? and I know others around here are running 24mm swaybars..
  6. Ok - I will firstly admit that I am too lazy to read the previous 22 pages ( but probably will having said that ) to work out the best combo for swaybars. Now firstly - I have a 24 mm rear- set to max hardness. and I recently got what I THOUGHT would be a 24mm front.. but when I fitted it I noticed it was a 22mm solid of course, so due to the fact they came from over east I fitted it just to see what it felt like. My conclusion - I think its too soft / not fat enough. the cars handling did feel better.. but still feels like a bit too much body roll on severe cornering. bear in mind I am still running on " grandpa spec " 50 or 55 series tyres, so thats probably not helping. I guess what I came in here to ask is - if I go a harder front will it cause more undertsteer but less bodyroll? I guess I have learned that bigger is not always better.. so yeh.. what should I do ? play around with the existing 22 front and 24 rear to get handling better? or get a 24mm front? oh and I dont know if it has any bearing but I also fitted the rear subframe bushes on the weekend.
  7. haha.. classic.. I shoulda hung around a bit longer! oh well wont take long to come back .. but yeah. middle of summer would have made more sense haha..
  8. there is a REALLY good article in one of the recent Hi Performance Imports mag.. and it goes into GREAT detail about picking a good skyline. Part of the article deals with forklift damage.. and this supposedly only really happens on cars they were going to scrap ( ie junkyard ) apparently you can see some deformation near the roof line ( where it meets the windows etc as they also like to lift the cars using a sling , and that kinks the roof line a bit. to be honest $$ spent buying the mag might save you big dollars later on .. hope that helps
  9. been discussed before - but the button with the steering wheel symbol on it activates the up / down gear change buttons on the steeringwheel snow button basically stops it from taking off in 1st gear ( to prevent wheel spin ) and I think it limits boost too??? there is also a button on the dash that locks the center diff for slippery conditions ( dont use it on tarmac ) I gotta run for now but I am sure some of the more in the know people will come along and enlighten you further.
  10. I hardly drive the stagea anymore .. but I drove Jippas one with the " shift improver" and that did feel like it made a difference. Perhaps just " trick up " the autobox a bit .. with the MV shift kit.. maybe then you can have the best of both worlds? My main gripe with the auto is just sluggish changes.. even in tiptronic they are not that fast maybe we just got a munted auto but I think it also goes back to the fact that I really like manuals ..
  11. haha.. yeah I was refering to them being thirsty beasts indeed.. but you sound like you got the fuel bill sorted
  12. hello and welcome! the black with the gold mags looks excellent! and 2 stageas in the family hey? do your parents own an oil rig?
  13. well there are a few manual stageas being sold locally.. so your in luck there. I think if you are really used to have a manual - then the auto is going to make you go off the car pretty fast.. dont get me wrong.. its an ok auto - but the tiptronic is a bit of a let down. though - if you want a " cruiser" then the auto might be a good idea the ideal solution would be to have a fun/track car and the stagea for cruising.
  14. I am waiting for the follow up - so - I cut my fuel hose.. what are the ramifications.
  15. so has the original thread poster come back in here and tell us WHY he cut the cable?
  16. haha.. aah the race is on !!! the rear subframe bushes must be hand cut by elves high in the glacial highlands of newtopia because fck only knows where they are! and .. I think I am facing disappointment for the swaybar to arrive today so looks like a weekend with no working on the car !
  17. man somepeople just go over the top hey? and dale HTF did you know thats what it was called? sounds like nazi's getting tortured.
  18. haha.. your setting yourself up there for quite a fall if the poosar does not come thru with the CHOP! nah all harmless sledging ! hopefully I will get more goodies in the stagea before then hey dale when you getting the swaybars in ? not THIS weekend ( broome ) but next weekend I am HOPEFULLY going to be doing my front swaybar install and maybe some castor bushes and hopefully rear subframe bushes .. but I am not holing my breath for that
  19. well its slowly getting closer and closer cant wait ( even though I am not driving ! ) rear swaybars are in and god only knows wheh the right front bar and the rear subframe bushes are going to arrive! like a kid in a candy shop!
  20. we were at repco yesterday ( returning the front swaybar as it was incorrect ) and a silver stagea honked us .. didnt get a good look at it but it went up hillview terrace prob around 2-30?
  21. well dale your usually my truffle dog for finding lost links! ( dont mean it to sound demeaning but you are a good link locator ! )
  22. rinky no workee .. I will find the one that was on here.. its good cause it was specific to the stagea and worse comes to worse.. I am sure install is just the reverse of removal
