  1. yeah.. i have been looking at this as well .. and to make a completely " stealth " install is going to be hard. Why not try and mount the amps under the front seats if possible.. then just put the speakers in the standard locations.. and just unclip the sub and take it out of the car when need be? and yeah.. you can get those very shallow mount subs ( from pioneer if I remember correctly ) there IS one little sneaky compartment to the left hand side of the cargo area.. and if you got a really small amp you may be able to house it in there and keep everthhing out of sight
  2. 38 poor me! yeah whats the theory.?
  3. hmm I am just wondering if the solenoid activates if the airbags etc deploy? to stop you being caught in a burning wreck perhaps? very interesting all the same
  4. good quality photos there. the ball bearing is interesting though ..how was the ball bearing oriented? that might be able to give you a clue! looks like maybe the ball bearing causes a switch to activate if its in the right orientation? maybe it releases ( loosens ) the seatbelt if the car is in a roll over.. but thats a bit of a wild guess as you can tell
  5. congrats to both of you hey - before you take the cars over the pits .. be 110% sure they have working imobilisers. its law here in WA .. and we didnt know we didnt have one .. and almost got failed right off the batt at the pits.. good luck peeps!
  6. yeah no problems to report really.. the car parks pretty easy once you get used to it.
  7. hey thats not actually too bad! heaps better than we are currently getting
  8. If anyone in Perth wants to borrow the tool I used to get it off - just let me know but honestly.. they are a peice of cake to make! oh and.. be extra sure when ( if anyone does buy the custom o2 sensor removal tool ) just make sure if you buy the socket type that its deep enough to fit over the socket.. cause you need one Deeper than most deep sockets.. Oh and.. my update ( after changing the sensor last weekend ) I think its made a BIT of difference . but not a massive difference. but only done 1/4 tank so far. we got our first country trip this weekend.. so that will be interesting to see what we get out of it
  9. yeah sounds like coils to me.. this is a very common problem with the stageas ( and I beleive the RB25DET motors in general ) you COULD try pulling the plugs out and gap them a bit smaller.. but I am fairly confident the splitfire coilpacks will help you out. so if my calculations are correct.. 0.8 Bar = 11.6030 PSI ( or there abouts ) does lowering the boost help at all ? I have heard of excess boost causing incorrectly gapped plugs to " blow the spark out " ie does not spark correctly. I would go the coilpack replacement and go from there. PS make sure you have an air compressor or shop vac handy to clean out the sparkplug wells BEFORE you take the plugs out.. as when I did it the cover had bits that were brittle due to heat. hope that helps! OH AND! what octane fuel you running? if you put BP ULTIMATE 98 in that might give you a bit of releif from the pinging
  10. hmm be careful pulling that apart.. they can be a bit fiddly to put back again yeah the push to keep highbeams on constantly is quite a standard now really I am sure an auto electrician could hook something up for you.. just be sure you wire the new switch in paralell to the old one so the cops cant get you on that for a yellow sticker
  11. errm .. my 2c worth is dont even bother about Air fuel ratio guage.. pretty much useless. if your REALLY keen on monitoring it splash out the $$$ and get a wideband o2 sensor and a good reputable guage for it.
  12. thanks for that . mmm .. friday cruises are always a bit exhausting! who here is going?
  13. link me !!!
  14. no .. but my mum told me if I dont have anything nice to say.. dont say anything at all haa..
  15. I loved my little NA 2L pulsar SSS sure not as much torque or horsepower.. but more fun cause you could hold onto a gear longer and rev out more without approaching instant loss of license speeds too fast hhaha
  16. 1999 I would have expected to run tiptronic ? oh and .. there are 2 at switches dont forget. one specifically for snow ( thats my understanding ) and thats to the left of the steering wheel this causes an indicator to light on the dash - I am pretty sure this makes the torque split 50/50 front/rear , and there is another mysterious switch near your center console that just says A/T I am in perth too .. and to be honest if I never see snow again I will be happy! so yeah.. we just leave those 2 switches the hell alone. what I was looking for before is the POWER switch ( for overtaking ) then it dawned on me that you just put it into tiptronic and knock it back a gear.
  17. thanks for that .. they are only cheapish nangkang nsII's so just replace them when needed the handling/fitting costs to swap them on rims is probaly going to equal buying new tyres haha
  18. while we are on this subject.. ( and sorry for the hijack ) but .. I noticed with our car.. its got the autech rims on .. and you can see the track of the rear is wider than the track of the front.. and the rims have stickers on them stating the rears are for rear use only and the fronts for front use only.. so if you have directional tyres.. wheel rotation ( to ensure even wear ) is out of the question!!
  19. yeah.. they will more than likely have to come off the tiens might be a real ball ache.. depending on if they can get stock shocks and springs to put back in
  20. yeah I too thought it was a " show us your front bottoms " type of thread.. but I tried to be helpfull all the same haha.. hey.. another thing you COULD do .. but its frought with possibilities to hurt yourself haah. jack the car up and get it up on stands. then get a trolley jack and see if you can stick it under the tyre or under the suspension arm to emulate the shock traveling over a bump. Please dont miss my disclaimer about a strong possibility of self harm, or get a mate to do it and sit back with a few beers and enjoy the hilarity!
  21. I didnt know you for a long time .. but was a pleasure all the same its nice to see that human decency and generosity to help others still exists and its also a thing of wonder as to how owning something ( ie a nissan skyline stagea etc) can cause such a feeling of commraderie between people.
  22. ours has done 132xxx km .. noisy lifter is about our only complaint
  23. yeah I think we used that meguiars stuff too .. and our seats look mintox
  24. I would say that any info given to you here is strictly on a " all care no responsibility clause" I would think its safe to run the boost controller without a tune just monitor boost carefully as those boost controllers are EXCELLENT but very hard to get right. 1/2 a turn can bump the PSI up pretty drastically. oh and make sure you tighten the nut after you set it.. as my bolt fell out when I had one of those before. but yeah.. in summary.. I would be very surprised if that did any damage. just take the adjustment of the boost level very carefully. and watch the guage carefully to make sure it does not go to some stupid amt of boost
  25. I have a tiptronic box in our stagea.. and to be honest I dont really rate it at all . maybe coupled with a shift kit for some harder shifts.. but as it is now.. meh. I just drive it as an auto.
