just noticed this thread! your lucky compliance is only taking a week .. and yes. the wait KILLS you! we are STILL waiting for ours.. its in brisvegas getting complianced.. so wont see it for another 3 weeks or so

for a boosted ( I presume its an rb25det ) motor thats not much horsepower! I wonder if your catalytic converter is blocked? easiest way of checking that is just to disconnect the rest of the exhaust from the turbo/dump pipe and see if it does heaps more power

[edit] RAC horsepower (taxable horsepower) See Tax "horsepower" This measure was instituted by the Royal Automobile Club in Britain and was used to denote the power of early 20th century British cars. Many cars took their names from this figure (hence the Austin Seven and Riley Nine), while others had names such as "40/50 hp", which indicated the RAC figure followed by the true measured power. Taxable horsepower does not reflect developed horsepower; rather, it is a calculated figure based on the engine's bore size, number of cylinders, and a (now archaic) presumption of engine efficiency. As new engines were designed with ever-increasing efficiency, it was no longer a useful measure, but was kept in use by UK regulations which used the rating for tax purposes. where D is the diameter (or bore) of the cylinder in inches n is the number of cylinders This is equal to the displacement in cubic inches divided by 10π then divided again by the stroke in inches.[3] Since taxable horsepower was computed based on bore and number of cylinders, not based on actual displacement, it gave rise to engines with 'undersquare' dimensions, i.e. relatively narrow bore, but long stroke; this tended to impose an artificially low limit on rotational speed (rpm), hampering the potential power output and efficiency of the engine. The situation persisted for several generations of four- and six-cylinder British engines: for example, Jaguar's 3.8-litre XK engine had six cylinders with a bore of 87 mm (3.43 inches) and a stroke of 106 mm (4.17 inches), where most American automakers had long since moved to oversquare (wide bore, short stroke) V-8s.

ok .. the pits use a CRAAAAZZZY system for determining horsepower of a motor ( but it works in our benifit !! ) its called the RAC ( no connectiion with RAC insurace as far as I know ! ) Horsepower rating and it does NOT take into effect turbo / superchargers etc. So essentially .. when I changed from an sr20DE to an sr20DET , as far as the RAC horsepower rating calculation goes the DET had NO MORE power than the DE . so that will be a good benifit to dale..

A Whole Lot Of Extra Timing?
ssshonky replied to bubba's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
hey bubba your in perth hey? why not take it to a reputable workshop and get em to test it all out ASAP some motors can survive pinging pretty well .. but not others. don't want to be up for a rebuild.. give the octane booster a go -
A Whole Lot Of Extra Timing?
ssshonky replied to bubba's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
as some quick form of insurance.. If I were you I would run out and stick BP Ultimate 98 in it ( if you dont already) either that or stick some octane booster in there.. that should help reduce the pinging a bit. Pinging can get pretty serious so dont wait too long before you get it fixed! also .. does it ping more on really hot days? Make sure your mechanic goes thru the correct Proceedure for setting the base timing ( some engines you need to disconnect the tps .. rev past 3 grand .. etc etc ) -
the autech version came out with LSD as standard ( if it was 1.5 way or 2 way LSD I dont know ) I presume that means the 260rs Autech version? ( still pretty new to this ) so If Nissan did it from factory then it must be ok .. only thing to find out is if its a 1.5 way or a 2 way LSD Is it going to be an Auto your putting it in?

How Would You Like To See An Events Thread?
ssshonky replied to GoldZilla's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
yeah that could be good! as long as we have some way of segregating them ( sp? ) Maybe at the WA cruise we can discuss more social type events , BBQ's etc. ( and DRIIINNKIIIEES ) a trip to a Brew Your Own place could be an idea for the future! If anyone gets too pissed they can sleep it off in the stagea.. group buy on Custom Made matresses anyone??? -
How Would You Like To See An Events Thread?
ssshonky replied to GoldZilla's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
excellent idea! will you be breaking it up into 2 events threads "official events " and " soical get togethers" or something like that? yeah I think putting them all in one easy to find place would be a great start. -
hey thanks SO much for that! We have not as yet received our stagea.. but saw that steering wheel button on the dash and I did wonder what it was for. So that button turnes off the buttons on the steering wheel hey? One more mystery solved ! Thanks again

Hi A Reasonable Price For A Stagea And Advice Please
ssshonky replied to joshsmum00's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
now .. I can say I dont know ANY of these people selling their stageas ( I Am very new to the club ) but I know that buying cars from forum members is usually a good idea fora few resons a) the cars are usually serviced very well b) you can ask the sellers questions , and they will be honest ( most of the time ) as they dont want to BS anyone in the club. c) some of the mods you might want done, could have already been done by the previous owner hence saying you $$ and time! Or .. the other alternative is .. if you have the $$$ ready , and currently have transport , and can wait a few months , why not think about importing one? In Perth we saw a car very similar to the one we are importing and not a whole lot was different on the 2 cars other than the $10000 price difference! Why not look at a few of the members cars listed, they all seem to be in your price range! -
haa.. at work I got told to work on my writing style for technical write ups because they were " too personal "

my simplistic take on how Atmo BOVs upset some systems is basically the engine management computer goes HEY.. WTF did all that air go ? conk .. stall ... ( I did say simplistic ) Yeah BOVS improve shift times due to when the butterfly valve in the throttle body closes ( on liftoff for shifts ) it prevents a big wad of trapped air bouncing back down the intake tract.. Please note that I do not proclaim to be an expert at this. just what I recall from previous discussions
