  1. Just took the car for it's first test drive , external temp of trans cooler measured with a laser thermometer was 66 deg, sound bout right ? It's over 35 ambient today though! Thoughts ???
  2. Been there , done that I find that if you have the right tools it helps a lot. ie having deep sockets, extensions, ratchet spanners I really dont like 1/2 inch stuff anymore- far too clunky.
  3. Good Job man I find that after the 2nd beer you can NOT find any tools !
  4. Started her up last night , didnt hear any leaks etc so all must be well. Though I dont know if I am paranoid or what but I could detect a slightly rough idle, but having said that the car has been on stands for a while so I guess its hardly surprising. you can see the new oil cooler peeking up there
  5. The 6cyl PWR cooler fits PERFECTLY in the position of the old cooler. You just need to drill one hole on the PWR cooler to make it fit and you are done, Here are a few pics. Does anyone think that the bend in the hose for the top connection is a bit too tight in the radius of the bends?
  6. unless its from a Silvia etc, as the s15 JDM silvias came out with Ballbearing turbos
  7. thats a 3 beer minimum job.
  8. OK - the guys at PWR cleared this up for me. According to them the cooler can be used as a stand alone , ie not in line with the factory cooler. Thanks to PWR for clearing that up in my mind, So that is what I am going to do as soon as I can get out of work .
  9. Sorry to hear that Any surveilance cams in the area? a bit NCIS I know but just wanted to help. did you get the cops to dust for prints etc?
  10. See thats weird , I think its a s1 thing! I fit the JJR dump and the orientation of the cat was off on the X axis as well as being " slightly downhill "
  11. Ok- I rang PWR direct and they assured me that the 6 Cyl kit will be fine to REPLACE the factory cooler. Thank god for that! A huge load off my mind. Very nice guy there at PWR , Chris I think his name was.
  12. I guess as part of my job I need to think logically. The S2 stagea trans cooler is quite large. Perhaps 50-60mm thick ? And at a guess maybe 200mm x 120 mm. Having said that I am looking for comparable cooling, and I just dont think I am going to get that from a cooler ( PWR ) that is much thinner ( 19 mm ) and perhaps 50% larger surface area again than the factory one. I guess I want to make sure the part is fit for purpose you know? Sure I CAN install it , but will it do the job? I really dislike it when I fck up
  13. I am fairly sure the exhaust will need SOME form of modification. Sometimes the flanges are not in the right orientation. ( ie might require rotation ) Your compliance cat is probably not 3 inch is it? If I were you I would save the stuffing around and just do the whole lot in one go ( if you can afford it that is )
  14. Ok guys and gals. Please note that these coolers are supposed to be supplimental to the existing oil cooler, not a replacement cooler. So take note that you cant replace the factory cooler with one of these units.
  15. ok .. you know when something seems too good to be true , that means its normally too good to be true? Well after reading the PWR instructions on this cooler I just got it makes it pretty clear its supposed to be a SUPPLIMENT to the existing oil cooler not a REPLACEMENT oil cooler. Fck ! So head on over and comment in this thread pls http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/st...-topic-f79.html I just need to know if anyone has used these as a replacement vs an add on oil cooler, Thanks all
  16. Ok , Cut a long story short , and you can refer to my posts in the Stagea forums for more info , but I wanted to reach a wider variety of people so I posted here. I just got the PWR 6 Cyl Trans cooler kit and I notice that EVERYWHERE in the instructions it states that you should use it as an Auxiliary coolier, ie complementary to what you currently have in place. Now - I didnt realise that these coolers were meant to be supplimental to the factory cooler, so I fcked up in that regard. I guess my question now is can these seemingly p1ssy coolers REPLACE the factory Trans cooler? I am using it on a S2 Stagea. When I was first looking at these coolers I thought they seemed a bit small to be a replacement cooler and now I guess I know why! So - can I use it as a replacement to the factory Trans cooler? or not a hope in the world?
  17. you fill it up thru the dipstick , or so I am told
  18. thanks matey , but I get trade at repco and they only have the 6cyl one in stock , pls dont take any offence but I prefer to trade with Repco over Supercheap if I can help it. Do you think the 6 will suffice?
  19. I wouldnt be pushing the stock turbo to 17psi I think its only good up to around 14 psi Stageas traditionally run rich, but I still wouldnt go near 17psi , but thats just me. Oh and have a REALLY GOOD read abot the manual conversion process, there is even a thread on here about if its really worth doing a manual conversion or not.
  20. I have not replaced a fuel pump in the Stagea yet but I know from previous experience that if the Tank lid has a rubber O ring that its best to replace it when changing the pump, as the factory ones seem to blow out and get larger on contact with air. As I said this might NOT be the case for you , but might be an idea to look into it.
  21. From what I understand the S1 cooler is much smaller than the s2. The s2 one is smaller area wise than the PWR 6cyl one but much more thick. the PWR one is maybe 40-50 % bigger again area wise, but as I said only 19mm thick. Perhaps this is all that is needed?
  22. I am ok with the Price of the PWR one , thats no so much of an issue. I am more worried about the thickness compared to the factory one. And the factory one has F#$ked mountings so I am just giving up on trying to relocate that. I have looked and looked and I did really give it a try , but yeah. giving up on that idea sorry!
  23. doh! wish I waited longer and let Josh do all my hard work haha.. oh well 2 heads are better than 1
  24. Hey matey , where abouts are you located? the Bypassing of the Solenoid looks nornal, I have ours set that way with a manual boost T too. the 50/50 should not really be used if you are not in snow or on gravel. there is also a button located in the center console , I think its marked SNOW. Make sure that is NOT on , it stops the car from starting off in 1st gear ( to give more traction in the snow ) and yeah makes the car feel like crap. that thing you circled with CUT on it is the recirc line for the factory BOV I am thinking, my question is is there a bung in the pipe that usually leads to the BOV? How many PSI is the car running at the moment? you have to bear in mind too that the thing weighs in at 1600kg , an auto , and no full 3 inch exhaust .. its never going to thrill you the way it is I would try and get the exhaust free'd up 1st, try and get it to be a full 3 inch all the way back , I wonder if your Cat is blocked? oh and these cars are NEVER good on fuel. Period. oh and your STALLING is caused by your Atmo venting BOV. If you put it back to recirc that problem would more than likely go away. Didnt you take the car for a test drive when you bought it ?
