  1. Was reading the latest HPI magazine out, had a small article about the Track Battle & Drift Grand Prix and stated there will only be 2 rounds this year QLD and WA? No Victorian round anymore? Over the WTA weekend was wondering around and chatting to people and was told the Victoria Calder meeting may get canned, thought it was crap and didn’t take any notice but anyone got any more info? Don’t want to start a rumour but seemed very odd it was not in the article from HPI

  5. I don’t mind watching the drifting for around 10mins then I get a bit board, but the drifters would say the same about us time attackers. Even though I don’t like saying it, having both at the one event seems to work well just look at the crowds at WTA if there was no drifting maybe half the crowed would not show up? Then sponsors will stop coming and time attack could end up falling on its ass? While its working stick with it and make it bigger and better. never know may take over V8 Taxi's and end up on TV..... everyone needs a support act.
  6. Really mate you’re not getting anywhere with your comments. If turning up the boost in your Skyline is a way of going faster over building a 600hp car that can handle doing hot laps on a race track and rev to 9000rpm you don’t have any idea. If I bought a an F1 car and put a skyline body shell on it have I developed something. Yes a F#cking quick car. Till you have driven/ built a car that is capable of any quick lap times you will not understand how it is and what it even takes. Very few parts on a quick car are of the shelf items.
  7. Good filming but was only about 30 secs of on track video, rest was drifting....... so I got board.
  8. You must use a poor quality panel beater or be one yourself if you think you can’t repair that correctly to drive straight again. A bit of time and skill goes along way......
  9. Was quite annoying having Mad Mike's 26B going up and down pit lane 10 times a day. Once was enough and I’m a rotary fan, then they had PAC man drive his drag car up and down on Saturday sounded even worse.
  10. Will post up some more photos later but here are some snaps i took. Off to eat some dinner now....
  11. Talk about slashing lap times this year, may need to re-think some of the build on our new car to keep up with the competition. Clubsprint knocked 1.9sec of last year winning time Open knocked 1.6sec off last year Pro knocked 1.7secs off last year So where will they be in 2012?
  12. May be a slight problem when he can’t fit through the scrutineering garage or clips a spectator in the pits.
  13. Thought the first episode was a bit of a flop, hopefully will get better with some good driving events and some more action.
  14. The wait is over - this Sunday at 5pm on 7mate is the debut of Shannons Supercar Showdown. Meet the contestants who will battle it out for a spot on the grid at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 alongside host Grant Denyer. Each young driver has their own story and they've come from far and wide to compete this unique driving competition. Before they hit the circuit they must prove their skill on the road, with the first challenge a learner driver test. For some of the contestants, driving on the streets instead of the track will prove tougher than it looks. One contestant could be going home before they've even settled in. Also in this episode, take a look behind the scenes of the Kelly Racing operation and find out more about what goes on behind closed doors at a V8 Supercars team. http://www.shannonssupercarshowdown.com.au/
  15. That is great news. Will defiantly be bringing our S15 out for these events then
  16. Andrew, are all the rounds going to be “made up tracks” held at race circuits or is the series going to start using the full race track. I understand you can’t use all of the thunderdome due to the track condition but what are the plans for Round 2 at QLD Raceway? Would love to bring our S15 to run the series, but would not suit the track seen in the video and the same would go with a lot of other dedicated time attack cars.
  17. I hope is more like a Superlap style event than based on a Dutton type with witches hat chicanes and handbrake turns. Maybe won’t bother running the S15 at these events if it’s like that? When you say it’s not based on 1 flying lap, its bases on the best time over the day... For what the 5-6 laps? If that’s the case it’s a big disappointment if you get held up when over taking there goes your whole run. Had this problem in Supersprints when they group lap times together for results and your lapping cars or you catch someone if they had a spin stuffs up everything. Let’s hope they get this event right and not be a flop for the first one. Buts that’s my thoughts other may have different opinions...
  18. Well they got the web site up and running, let's get behind this and hope it takes off. http://trackbattle.com.au/trackbattle/ Anyone planning on running any of the rounds this year, or got plans for next year? I will be driving a new toy for next year thats in the build will post more details soon of it.
  19. This is great news! Wonder what that deal cost? Funny Tony put his R35 up for sale today as well at a very good price! http://my105.com/listingdetails.aspx?id=4960&latest=1
  20. I will be going but will be towing the GTR down since the family is coming too. Posted some details in the members sections with links to the web site to start booking accommodation
  21. All in good hands Duncan got another Stagea owner looking after him so it's gets fixed right. It’s funny how many people think all repair shops recommended by an insurance company are bad, 8 times out of 10 the shop the owner wants to go to is worse than our recommended and get stuffed around.
  22. Last photo was how the car raced in 1985 for historic specs with the bigger rear wing.
  23. 1969 Mazda R100 Historic Sports Sedan For Sale I’m in two minds if I want to sell the car as the prices of historic racing cars is on the rise and I would like to compete in Group U Historic Sports Sedan, due to another commitment I don’t want the R100 sitting in the shed not being used. This Mazda R100 was originally CAMS log booked in 1977 and I have full documents from the original log book application to over 30 years of racing results, images and history of the car. Book is over 76 pages with articles from Racing Car News, Auto Action and photos provided from previous owners -this took over 2 years worth of research to put together. Neville Cherry built the Mazda R100 back 1977 & raced in Tassie Sports Sedan, was the quickest under 3Lt Sports Sedan holding lap records in Tassie till 1981 being beaten by Allen Grice’s JPS BMW Sports Sedan. The R100 was shown in the 1980 Motor Racing Year Book as being the quickest local sports sedan. In 1982 car was sold to Fred Munday who raced in Victoria Sports Sedan Championship, Larry Kogge from LK Tuning continued to develop the R100 and drove the car winning the 1984 Victorian Sports Sedan Championship. In 1984-85 the R100 also raced in the Australian GT rounds against the Rusty French’s Pantera, Peter Brock in the Monza, Allen Grice’s Monza, Allan Jones’s Porches 935, John Bowe’s Veskar sport car, Bryan Thomson - Mercedes 450Sl / Chev Monza. The R100 had several top 10 finishes. In 1986 Bill Emany bought the R100, Bill had great success winning the 1987 under 3lt Sports Sedan Championship in Victoria and in September 1987 the R100 was on the front cover of Racing Car News. The car was then sold to Stuart and Brett Eckford in NSW in 1988, the Eckford’s set some amazing lap times in the R100 at Sydney race tracks with a lap time of 44.9sec at Oran Park South while taking out race wins. Since then the R100 has had 4 other owners in NSW before I purchased the car in 2008. I cleaned the body work as it was bit rough in places and rebuilt /replaced basically everything on the car. I finally found some 13inch wheels to fit the car late last year as this is how the car raced in the 70- 80’s so it’s basically ready to get its Historic Log Book, would just need to paint it back in the original colours and make the rear wing bigger to be identical to how it raced in 1985 in the GT Sports Sedan rounds. This car is race ready, was running around Wakefield Park two weeks ago for the Skyline Aust. V’s Rotary of NSW Supersprint and lapping in the 1:08’s on cold winter day with old tyres. The R100 currently has 230hp at 8500rpm, I don’t rev past this as I wanted it to be reliable and that it is has not missed a beat for over 2 years. Currently the car weights around 800kg but was originally log booked at only 712kg. Last year I ran the CAMS NSW Supersprint Series done all 9 rounds and took out the class win at every round. This really is a jump in and drive historic race car. Best lap times recorded over the last 30 years and have official results to prove lap times.
