  1. They check gloveboxes and engine bays, centre console, ashtray.. its pretty hard to keep a street legal car without totally compromising. I've built mine for 100% street legality over the years (Got over mid 5 figure reciepts on labour and parts so I'm no dodgy backyard rambo mechanic) but I imagine I'll be pulled over by an ignorant cop one day. Most of them, 99% of them I would imagine, are excellent (I've been pulled over twice, rego/licence/breath tested and then sent on my way without a hassle) however its only the 1%'ers you hear about (heh - bikies and cops - whod have thunk it?) If you think you're unfairly targeted, make sure your car is as roadworthy as possible then challenge it via the CAA amd the police ethics board.... Oh btw you'd need a LOAD of disposable cash to pay for lawyers - or you are amazingly vindictive and dont mind bankrupting yourself to own the system either way you lose. welcome to rannistan -D
  2. +1 When I bought my GTR off Writeoff, he happily gave me all of those details because I needed them a) to get the secured loan and b) to insure the car with shannons so that I was covered *the moment I got in the vehicle* (wasnt gonna fall into THAT trap after doing my 12 months of research) And if he ever had any problems, he could have always printed out his bank statement showing a 5 figure bank transfer from my bank account... -D

  17. Actually Intel made the first 8088 cpu which was put into the first IBM "PC" (the XT), which was based upon the Intel 8008, the first 8 bit microprocessor. The 8088 was used in preference to IBM's own 801 processor, even though that cpu was more powerful than the 8088... -D

  22. so true, see the thing with our current media based society, is that we're being pushed into knee jerk reactions... thinking with our emotions rather than our minds... a person is mentally formidible, but a group of people are easily won over.... peer pressure at its worst... one can point to the NSDAP rallies to see what a crowd can do for a flawed argument thing is, are we going to stay quiet for fear or offending someone, or are we actually going to step up to the plate and say what we think? I might not agree with what other people say, I might get offended, upset, whatever, fact is if you proclaim to support free speech, you support it regardless of whether you agree with it or not, otherwise you're nothing but a hypocrite.... me, I love a good debate. mods have decreed im not allowed to conduct em publicly, so i encourage all master-debators to pm me directly for your amusement -D
  23. Well no, it was satire, PURE satire as it were - I know you don't think its funny, and I might not either, however in my opinion, the comment was NOT intended to cause hurt, it was to cause amusement. The intent of the words are as important as the context. Thats the very critique about satire - what one man finds funny, another may find offensive - however it is legally protected by our laws and as such, you must respect that over your own personal beliefs. -D
  24. *sigh* people need to read the definition of 'vilification' - vilification is when you're using someones personal preferences as a sledge, or more technically 'to incite hatred or harm' While I can't say that the comment was in good taste, surely that is all it was guilty of. Considering there have been many proven cases of abuse in the catholic diocese (and many other religions I might add to equalize the statement), the fact that people are going to make satire out of fact is hardly surprising... If one was to say 'X likes to do Y, so lets bash/kill/call em dork/whatever", if that were to happen then that does qualify as vilification as it incites people to act against another individuals personal beliefs, encourages violence and civil disrest. I really do appreciate the sentiment behind this, esp when it comes to covering ourselves legally, but lets understand what we're accusing people of first... I thought the comment was a bit off (mainly cause the pope is not the guilty party), but I didn't take offence (because he's the figurehead and its natural that he cops the flack) and considering the school I went to had many students molested by the clergy (and teachers) its hardly surprising anyone is going to make such comments... but such comments are not vilification.... nor is a picture of jesus riding a dinosaur, for that matter.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satire Satire is protected under our law. 0.02c -D
