  1. I like it when I make only half a point. It seems to synchronize the yin and the yang. Better to make half a point and do it well than make a whole point and entirely f**k it up I suppose. -D
  2. Hi Jason Sell out much? The day I take engineering advice from a cricketer is the day I trust my root canal to a f**king demolitions expert. Thanks for the fish Love Dohmar
  3. TBH That was the most off topic thread I've ever seen Do you people really believe I give 2 shits about children, the procreation, the drama? Sorry if this shits you all off, but this is exactly the point of what andrew is getting at, even tho I know full well I'm twisting his words. I know a bunch of folks who have kids and yeah, they're always very proud and what not, but I have to quote Bill Hicks here and say "Your children are NOT special". Hell. even cockroaches procreate. Yeah fair enough, if someone wants to share something cool like having a kid, leave it to wasteland. But straight up, that thread contained a hell of a lot of bitching about the "other half" which leaves us with one half of a story. At that stage, I tuned out. How many pages has that thread gotten to, within 9 months? If you need someone to talk to or vent, fair enough but picking a car forum at random and venting to people you hardly know publicly... cmon dawg... thats not what this is for... Mods. Don't pretend there is a grey area here. Its black and white. Signing off, one heartless bastard. -D
  4. Man your car is so shit.... If you were a real man, your car would be this : Until you can achieve Mach 3.0, your car aint shit -D

  6. Core 2's Duos have two cores per die (and quads have 4) ;P Unlike a P4 with hyperthreading which reports back two cores but actually only has one... -D
  7. I had a really wicked Farmers Union Iced Coffee about 2 hours ago. Matter of fact, I even got two for $5 at the local Caltex. I'm pretty stoked with that... -D

It ain't bad to get mad N: And what if someone gave him a fright Would a goat laugh, "Ha, ha, it's quite all right"? Goat: NO! I get mad! I get mad! I get mad! It ain't bad to get mad N: And what if someone does something unkind Would a goat pretend he doesn't mind? Goat: NO! I get mad! I get mad! I get mad! It ain't bad to get mad -D

  18. I use a runcore SATA mini PCI-E aftermarket replacement. Its a 32gb model. I've ran the benchmarks using HDParm on both my laptop and the SSD in the EEE. the one in the EEE gets 125MB per second read, and 55MB per second write. My WD Raptor does 55mb Writes and 60mb Reads. The Green WD drive I have as my primary data store gets 55MB per sec reads and 45MB per second write. The SSD write speeds equal the WD Raptor I have in my main PC. Intel do not own the SSD market. Not even close. Their idea of a wear levelling algorithm is to simply split the file up into multiple fragments and randomly allocate a logical block. Not a good idea. There are two different types of SSD technology. MLC (Multi level cell - slower, less reliable) and SLC (Single level cell). SLC is much faster than MLC but at a greater cost, hence it doesn't get used quite as much. That said, MLC drives are getting faster at writes - indeed, the SSD in the EEE (Runcore) is an MLC based drive. The RunCore SSD is about 2.5 times as fast as an early MLC on reads and 6-8 times as fast on writes. To compare with the MLC that came with the EEE - 8gigs. It has writes of 2MB a second max and 12MB/s reads. Once replaced with a fast runcore module, the 'stuttering' problem (which was Windows writing/changing files) simply vanishes. It makes the EEE like a new PC. FYI - http://www.voitech.com.au/products/runcore...1-and-s101.html -D
  19. English US, as we use a US style keyboard (dollars instead of pounds) -D
  20. Not really. The rad and pump needed replacing so I just spent the extra $150 for upgraded components. -D
  21. lol water wetter. I've heard it all now.... if you want better cooling, why not do what I did? Get an ISC 52mm radiator, new hoses, an N1 water pump, a 1.3kpa nismo radiator cap and an air deflector shroud... more than enough cooling for the average bear -D
  22. Kids, Don't Do Drugs. -D
  23. I've seen this argument many times. Redline themselves recommend that people dont use shockproof in a synchromesh gearbox because it will eventually shag the synchros. Its designed for dogboxes.... It can hide some symptoms of a failing gearbox but it doesnt fix any problems. Matter of fact, since you're shifting and it cushions the impact when the gears arent synchronized, its often mashing your synchros and you don't even feel it. In the short term, it'll make your box feel slightly better but you'll halve the lifetime due to using it. I have to replace my box for the exact reason that the redline shit was in it. When they drained the fluid (which looks like pureed smurf) there were heaps of tiny shards of metal in there from poor shifts. Just look to what the OEM manufacturers recommend (usually mineral oil).... I can guarantee you that no manufacturer out there is recommending their customers use redline shockproof. -D
  24. That applies to the Intel X25 only. There are many other types of SSD, intel do not have the monopoly on them, nor are they to be considered competent in SSD technology. No other SSD has issues with 'sector remap fragmentation'. I have a runcore SSD in my EEE and they do not suffer from any said problem. Intel != all ssd's. TBH it sounds like you're just repeating what you've read from slashdot or arstechnica. -D -D
  25. a good mineral oil... stay away from the redline shockproof crap, it kills synchros -D
