  1. Ask me on the 1st of June lols. Hopefully my car doesnt cost me much more than planned.... 2 weeks in on an 8 week repair/refresh schedule and I'm already up to $2500 *sigh* -D
  2. It is >exactly< like that. You've done that before haven't you ;P -D

  5. Double? Oh dear.... you're going to have one tall kid it sounds like.... pretty useful for reaching stuff off the top shelf at the local supermarket.. better stock the crib up with a basketball and some size 21 shoes -D
  6. Huh? SSD's by nature do not fragment. Or more specifically, any fragmentation that occurs has absolutely no bearing on performance since there is no moving read/write head and data access is as fast as the bus allows. The only issue with SSD's is a) write speed and b) block levelling algorithms... write speed is getting better and the block levelling is getting to the point where ssd's are having a projected 20 year lifespan with the assumption that you write a lot. Got an upgraded SSD in my EEE (fast one to replace the slow one) and it kicks arse... -D
  7. It depends on the car too. I don't know if 34s have the same issue with firewall flexing as the 32's do. I know the flex is pretty notorious on 32's and yeah, definately noticed the difference the moment it was put on... it wasn't expensive either, a smidgeon under $200 iirc.. -D
  8. If westan dont have em, nobody has em. -D

  11. if anything they make the pad last longer. they do have more bite which increases wear but the groove also assists in cleaning the brake dust off the pad and venting it out so its not actually trapped between the rotor and the pad, and that itself helps the pad to stay alive a bit longer... You'll still have benefits with cross drilled however many cross drilled rotors are prone to stress fractures due to the fact that they are drilled after the rotor is forged, whereas the slots are actually shaped within the forging/casting process. You'll notice RDA also have the gold passivated rotors with slots and 'dimples'. The dimples are done during casting and dont go the entire way thru the disc, so theyre much hardier. cross drilling isnt so useful for street work (lets face it, its there for cooling so its mainly for racers)... slotted is more than enough for any street car.. if your slotted rotors aren't doing the job on the street, then thats the time you consider caliper and disc diameter upgrades... or switch to a prius I've already added a cusco brake cylinder brace and braided brake lines and those two improve the feeling/response of the brakes quite a bit. The new rotors should really seal the deal, I can't see myself needing bigger calipers or disc diameter... -D
  12. I arranged it last week thru the grp buy. -D
  13. Yeah I gotta get mine replaced so I'll be lashing out for a set of RDA front slotted rotors too. Theyre not as expensive as I thought they'd be either. -D

  19. Very easy. I had my old one converted, cost me $500 for labour and $700 for the 'kit' from nisswreck (clutch assembly, surrounds, gearbox itself)... sadly the bloke who did mine is not longer working, but I'm sure you'll be able to find someone who knows their stuff ... just budget for $1200-$1400 -D
  20. *puke* -D
  21. Yes and no... you can reflash an ECU with another set of firmware which may or may not contain an updated map... The map is EEPROM which stores a spreadsheet of air fuel ratios and other assorted timings, and is done by using a laptop in most cases, and can sometimes be done without any mods... r32 gtr ecu is reprogrammable but the 33 and 34's arent iirc. Thats one of the reasons people like to switch to aftermarket ecu's like PFC's because of the ability to change heaps of settings.. -D
