standard item on 32 gtr's, maybe others too. you can fold it away to the rear. Its basically just an assist so you dont have to twist your body to grab the seatbelt if you're short and have the seat put foward... -D

Personally I'd get them powdercoated (I got mine powdercoated red at wingfield powder coaters and sanded the logo back but the logo in my case was raised) with a black caliper with silver lettering - would be the best to compliment blue imho - tho depending on what powder you use it could be difficult to put a sticker on, ie krinkle black. One solution is to use the sticker as a template and make a stencil, then simply use an enamel spray paint directly on top of the powdercoating -D

Sway Bar Opinions? R32 Gtr.
Dohmar replied to Sportmax's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
$750 delivered for the nismo items front and rear, and around $450 for the whiteline. I reckon you're right. I'll hit up the nismos. Thx for feedback! -D -
Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
Dohmar replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Brake Pad - QFM A1RM Brake Caliper - Std '89 R32 GTR Calipers, front & rear (rebuilt 2009) Brake Rotors - Std '89 R32 GTR Diameter, RDA Slotted and Vented Rotors F+R Brake Fluid - Motul Dot 4 of some description Brake Mods - Braided lines, front and rear, master cylinder brace, master cylinder re-cylinder 2008 Love the A1RM's. They stop from the get go and only get better. They make NO sound, they leave NO brake dust, they're relatively cheap and they kick some serious arse imho. I've never tracked the A1RM pads but from my street use (including some 'spirited' hills driving) they are amazing. I constantly make my friends have loosened bowels when I choose to brake hard. On second thoughts maybe thats not the best selling point. Anyhow, the A1RM pads ROCK for street use (better than bendix ultimates by several factors) and I daresay they would be good for the occasional fast lap at your local speedway Cheerio -D -
I know this sounds absurd, but check the rear subframe. I was getting front knock due to worn subframe bushes - when I replaced them with whitelines, it went away... I have NFI how that works, but eh, the proof is in the pudding -D

Sway Bar Opinions? R32 Gtr.
Dohmar replied to Sportmax's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Was wondering about sway bars. I have Nismo S-Tune Coilovers for my 32 gtr. Nismo have an S-tune Swaybar kit to match the suspension. For a street car, would it be best to have the nismo swaybars to match, or the standard whiteline one? I'm leaning towards nismo - cons - almost twice the cost. Pro - matched by nismo + street legal without needing engineering (in SA at least) Also I read somewhere that using hollow swaybars actually xfer the weight transfer better to a solid bar due to the ability of the metal to rotate upon its own central axis? (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert), and also the solid ones are heavier - that said, being a street car I'm not particularly worried about weight until it effects my fuel economy ;P Just would like to hear ya'll opinion before I shell out for the nismo bars - if theres a convincing argument to the contrary, I'll get the whiteline ones. I just don't know a thing about swaybars (aside from "they are good") -D -
Hicas Misbehaving Randomly
Dohmar replied to blind_elk's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Same thing happened to me in my 89 GTR. I did a lot of research on HICAS and considered a lot of things before finding out that the problem was staring me in the face (literally).... Hicas is always reading data. Some sources cite that it only activates at 80kph but that is a total furphy. Try navigating a single lane roundabout with hicas and without at 60kph and you'll see what I mean. My hicas would try and work up until a certain point, approximately 10km from the moment I turned the key. From that moment the error light would come on and I'd be wondering wtf was going wrong. After the 10km, I was safe because the hicas mechanism was locked straight ahead by the hicas computer. If I was to exceed 80kph BEFORE this time however, thats when the 'crabbing' and 45' turn stuff would happen. Near my house is a 80kph section.... I'd be driving along and as soon as i hit 80kph *bam* the hicas computer changed 'maps' and decided that the steering angle sensor was off. It wasnt. It was the boss kit. 32 GTR's changed their speed sensors sometime, not sure what year but there are definately different boss kits for zenki, chouki and kouki GTR's. I'm not sure which has which, but one has the magnet/sensor at a 3pm location on the steering column, the other one is 6pm. Or something like that. All I know is - once I replaced the boss kit for a zenki (early aka '89) series, hicas started behaving itself. I only use the car for street driving and the very very very very very occasional track/drag work so I've opted to keep it. I've gotten used to it tbh and its not so bad. Once you get the proper boss kit, you'll be able to initiate the hicas diagnostic blinks... that can also help you - I tried for months to get my hicas in diagnostic mode with the wrong boss kit. Needless to say, I felt like punching myself in the face once I figured out what was going on... Good luck! -D *** Edit - Incidentally, the reason it 'crab walks' and you need to snatch it 45' or whatever, is that the hicas computer has been reading the steering angle incorrectly. When travelling in a straight line it think you're turning, and eventually decides 'surely the car cannot be turning in circles ALL THE TIME?!?' and then deactivates itself. Before this happens, the car thinks its travelling in a slight turn (relying on the steering angle sensor alone, hicas responds harder when the G-sensors actually tell the car you're going sideways), which is why the moment it hits 80, the rear toes left or right (depending on the incorrectly percieved angle) and you shit your pants and yank the wheel to the side just so u can stay straight. -

While I won't be attending, I can recommend to ya'll to spend an extra day (maybe two) and head east along to Bright or Myrtleford. The Great Alpine Road runs from Wangaratta up to Mt Hotham along the ovens river, and connects to Hotham, Falls Creek, Mt Buffalo and Mt Beauty, all excellent roads with some of the greatest scenery this country has to offer. You won't regret it. -D

Same thing happened to me last year Comp test was fine, as was leakdown, however pushing the 20 year old oem gasket to 19psi blew the seal between the cylinder (which the surrounding gasket was already deteriorated for 1cm in diameter around the whole thing) until it met the water lines. The amount of oil in the rad wasn't huge, but I wasn't going to risk it. Thankfully Ruby was a champ and was able to strip it down and fit a new cometic mls gasket for me, and its been running beautifully ever since it was tuned up to the new gasket/bolts/all other stuff ruby got me to replace. Chances are if you've got a 20 yr old car that hasn't had the gasket replaced, its kaputski... -D

Saw a nice 31 either 31 grey or silver, flashing me and waving on bridge road pooraka yesterday around 1. Sorry I didn't wave back - didn't even look at you till the last second -D

Stolen R32 Purple Gtst Seen Heading North About 2Pm Friday
Dohmar replied to Rolls's topic in South Australia
Cant answer that, but I can say from my own experience that I've been pulled over twice in the 4 years of owning my GTR and using it as a daily driver. On both occasions it was a bretho and licence check, and I was sent on my way without incident. I suppose upkeep, keeping it stock and not driving like a tool are the 3 things that have helped me, however I do worry like everyone else, especially since my exhaust is loudish... -D -
Nice. Using a Dead Prez beat too... hes good, but nobody can beat Twista (formerly Tung Twista), recognized in the Guiness Book of Record http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkzIhMQctgg" Sweet production. This stuff bangs -D

Spotted a nice looking dark (not sure of the color) 32 turning into Mawson Lakes Bvd. Gave driver thumbs up. Then 10 minutes later, spotted a hektik in a silver 32 with gtr bodykit and black front fenders get up my arse on hampstead road, overtakes on the inside, squeezes between another two cars @ 75kph or so to get back on the inside lane and then turns right 20 seconds later into the BP across the road. All this only 1km past a drug/drink bus. Thumbs down for your lack of driving care. keep that to the track, not peak hour traffic... totally unimpressed -D
