  1. I'm all for keeping the OEM equipment functioning as the manufacturer intended. That said, I'm surprised you need software to set the steering angle to 0. I've not heard of that before but it might be an ODBII/r34 specific issue.... would be nice to have a stickied thread about HICAS repairs, considering there are so many resources out there but no central location for reference -D
  2. Agreed. On the way home yesterday I had some major idle / power loss issues. Spent an hour changing the air flow meters. 1st one I replaced, went for a test drive - same problem happened. Replaced the second one, problem hasn't shown itself again (yet - touch wood) but I'm eager to see if this afternoon changes the story. Oh and +1 for joeleo for reconditioning the afm I lent him - I've chucked it back in and its not screwing up like before haha - thanks -D
  3. Yeah my dads the same. Gives me shit about accelerating 'too fast' and then when he drives, doesnt indicate or check blind spots. And he goes about 50kph in a 60 zone. Old people. What can I say? -D
  4. Yeah Ive just downloaded it and installed onto my laptop, thx for the link... now to get myself an ODB usb connector. Think I might call PLMS tomorrow and see if they have any around... as long as it does the HICAS diags on my GTR it'll keep me happy. -D
  5. Thats for the software for Conzult Z32. It doesnt include Conzult SX (for Skylines etc) and the cable itself. Will look for this OBD scantech. If it does the HICAS diags, I won't bother with Conzult. Re: Steering angle, do you have a boss kit and aftermarket steering wheel or the original OEM? The steering angle sensor is located in the steering column, its a little white module with a cluster plug in the back. If its out of alignment, you'd need to get the car on a hoist, set the steering wheel to zero and then disconnect the battery - as far as I know, that would be all thats required to recalibrate the sensor. Could be wrong tho - Im sure if you had the hicas software that any decent wheel alignment shop could assist you. -D
  6. Nissan. Main North Nissan to be precise, have consult units. They charge $85 per hour, or there abouts.. -D
  7. Heh I felt like doing that at 2am, but then I realized that we'd had a blackout and our neighbours were also affected. Power didn't get restored until 5am, so during that time I was laying down on the slate in our living room. Just wish our government didnt SUCK so badly and actually fixed the power system. Every year, for the past decade, I've had UPS's which monitor the state of the electricity feed. I constantly hear the alarms sounding when it detects a spike or a brown-out, and it eventually screws the UPS battery up, as the UPS compensates for the fluctuations, Eventually the leadacid battery just can't hack it anymore and they die. That, and the blackouts, really really shit me. This 2009 ffs. Not 1909. -D
  8. Haha - you know about Terry Kennedy and his diss track to Lupe? "Kick Push Pass".... its all documented in one of the Beef series (number 4 I think) but I think its funny as hell - they interview a bunch of skaters and say 'all lupe did was a little ollie at the end of his video' -D
  9. We are
  10. *sigh* i miss full on torrential rain the kind that starts with a crash, speaks as a roar from an angry god, and the afterechoes and tears from the heavens continue to course through the earth yeah. i want. -D

  15. again, i blame our shithouse government, our shithouse opposition, an ineffectual federal government and nobody with a pair of testicles to go ahead and give us some damn nuclear power plants -D
  16. probably because of all those hot swedish chicks u brought back from europe. bastard. -D
  17. Use varnish. Looks shitloads better than paint. Sand back to bare wood, stain it if required and then varnish and seal. Bobs ur auntie. Btw u get my message about the turtles? -D
  18. nonsense. the geometry of the car is the same with AWD. when you lower the car, the front wheels go back an Few centimeters. I lowered my r31 ages ago with shortened king springs, turning circle was greatly reduced. do the math instead of saying 'oh its awd' - that is unless your definition of turning involves flooring the accelerator and spinning the rears... -D
  19. Man.... I'd have gone medieval, 1950's style... be laik 'Yo bitch, wtf is my dinner? I want that shit on the table, 5:30, ON THE DOT, now go get me a beeer..." (running ducking and laughing) -D
  20. *sings* I'm an asshole Im an asshole, the worlds biggest asshole.... "I walk around in the summertime saying 'How about this heat?', I'm an asshole, an asshole Apologies to Denis Leary And Craig I can imagine you'd be spewing. The govt buys aircon to keep the orang utans cool at the zoo, I reckon u should file a discrimination suit! Get some free aircon! -D
  21. Cant argue with that at all. Have considered putting my suspension back to stock but have been told the coilovers still give the best performance (if you can tolerate feeling every single bump). Car is lowered 5mm front and rear too low, so I have to do something. I also dont like the fact that when u lower the fronts you get less of a turning circle. Skylines have a shit turning circle to begin with, I'm loathe to make it worse ;P And yeah, I certainly wouldn't bother arguing with regency, but if pedders are already doing it then I'm going to keep tuned as to where they go... I would make a point about the european cars being released in Australia and not subject to compliancy (and they would be subject to the regulations from the year its built, an 89 skyline doesnt have to meet certain regs if imported under the previous 15 year rule) - tho I would agree with your point because regardless of year or released domestic market, the ride height is one of those things set in stone. -D
  22. Agreed - >IF< its been lowered past the written regs. SO i dont see how it would be any different with "legal" adjustible suspension, provided it hasnt been lowered past the legal ride height. That is the crux of the argument... -D
  23. Keyword being 'written regs'. If its not written, its not a regulation - which is why I'll be checking in with the guys at Pedders to see how they go fighting regency. -D
  24. I've still got my original tyre placard. Says 245x18 is the biggest on the sticker -D
  25. This is a bit of a misunderstanding. There is NO legislation about adjustible coil overs. Even regency have admitted its an 'unwritten rule'. If they try that crap, ask them to refer you to the legislation. What is defectable however is adjustible suspension that is set too low. Regency state that you have to weld the thread so the adjustible suspension cannot be lowered past the legal height, but even then that might not be a requirement. Pedders have been having arguments with regency for the last 18 months since they started selling their own brand of coil overs. I'll do some more research but for now I'm not convinced of either argument (since its a he said/she said argument). Written legislation wins, period. -D
