  1. Yeah I spoke to eric too when I was shopping around - r34 system not only has the odb2 plug as mentioned earlier, but the protocol is more advanced. If i could get access to the source code I'd probably build a decent GUI around the backend, and make it so i could use it with a 7" fold out touchscreen.... other thing that is cool about conzult is that you can attach it to a serial 2 way wireless transciever and do budget pit side engine monitoring/telemetry at race events.... just need to wait for my next paycheck before I can buy the damn kit and it sucks getting paid monthly -D
  2. Yes, its made by these folks here : http://dta-motorsport.com/conzult/ Sadly they decided to chose to export their software on Euro or USD, depending on which makes them the most money at the time, so to get it here in Aus is quite pricey. If I get one I won't mind lending the system out or doing diags for people, problem is its just expensive (relatively) -D
  3. For Conzult (aftermarket software) approx $600 AU for the cable + software. Consult from Nissan runs into several thousands of dollars. You can get aftermarket ODB diag systems from people like snap on power tools but the individual modules are expensive and I'm not sure if they even have one for HICAS. -D
  4. The only software Im aware of that does HICAS diags is the Conzult software sold by TTzed. Sadly I have not heard from them and will most likely have to get my cable from the manufacturer in the netherlands. Its primarly made for 300zx's but the hicas diag codes are the same for ODB1 cars and it'll work fine. Only problem is its expensive. IF anyone knows about any other software that does hicas diags, I'd love to hear about it -D
  5. hehe im goin fishing weekend after next. hopefully get some snappers ... crabbing sounds interesting damo, are u using nets from the jetty or dab nets ? -D
  6. public transport in general is shite in hot weather. and the govt wonders why people still drive to work. perhaps its because u dont wanna smell like the inside of a gym when u get to work (unless u work in a gym, apologies to personal trainers out there) -D
  7. turbo timers are only useful for people who really boost heaps... think mallala.... most of the time 30 seconds cooldown is all you need and that you can do while collecting your wallet, getting out of the car etc... -D
  8. It won't work on an R34 because they used a different type of ODB connector. Conzult (the full package) will read HICAS diags on 32 and 33's cause it has the same connector. You do however need a stock nissan ECU to 'translate' the codes from the hicas ecu. I did order one but the vendor in australia is that bad at communication it might just be worth me buying it from overseas. And I haven't found a place that does the diags yet. I called Graham West this arvo but haven't heard back from them yet as they were busy and their receptionist took a message... Its not a huge priority atm but I >will< buy the conzult package after I get my idle issues sorted... I very much want my hicas to work. -D
  9. Better for racing so the rear end is predictable around all conditions - its better for street driving and people who admittedly aren't highly skilled (such as myself). PM me the details of whats happening with your HICAS and I might be able to point you in the right direction. I've managed to solve 2 minor hicas issues before but this current one I believe is related to a faulty steering angle sensor (or boss kit) but I won't know for sure till I get the diag codes out (and I just havent got the time at the moment to head to boostworx) -D
  10. Boostworx can get the diag codes out for u for $50 or so - where it leads u from there is another matter... I too have hicas issues and must be alone when I say i really like it and dont want a lock bar -D
  11. i think kietz has a 31 for sale. if i had the $2k i woulda bought it -D
  12. there is a howto guide on the forums here somewhere. basically you connect the hid transformer to the pwer source on the light circuit, mount the transformer somewhere safe and then run wires back to your existing headlight pods. takes a few hours, longer if you dont know how to remove and remount lights or you could take it to an auto electrician and get them to do it -D
  13. its probably dry earth inside the actuator itself. its a notorious problem for r32's... to get to it, you'll need to remove the entire centre console, unscrew the unit, and unhook the lever arm. then disassemble the unit, reflow the solder and refit the unit. did it myself 3 months ago and it fixed the aircon completely... there is a guide on here but im lazy, im sure you'll find it -D
  14. I love lamp. -D
  15. heh im a bit pov atm. only just resumed work after a 2 month 'holiday' and wont be getting paid for a month ;P gotta hate that... and i had to buy a new phone, new car batter and get the auto electrician to fix the fusible link/fit battery terminals.... yech -D
  16. clown loach will easily settle in. bottom feeders are low threat to the rest of the fish. see if PK pets stepney will take them, otherwise ask your local doctors surgery. many of them have a fishtank -D
  17. how much do u want for the turtles? If its not much, i can give them a home here with 3 others and a big enclosure to run around in -D EDIT the fish probably wont survive the transport considering you have to setup and acclimatise the tank before you put them in there. usually people put them in an intermediate tank, so if you already have one you'll have to put them in there for the first week, then xfer everyone to the big tank - if you dont think theyll survive, try and find someone to take them in...
  18. well im not being facetious when i say this, but i believe you can get early toyota prius hybrids for $12k theyre a good car. they have the same chassis as the australian seca (which is a pretty good car) but has all the goodies. if you're after economy, safety, reliability, low maintainence car, that is the one i personally would buy. i think they rock. -d
  19. well i dunno if you'll get a 99 r33 or r34 depending on what was avail, for 12k that is.... and even then, you're young and i wouldnt bother with such cars, as your insurance is going to kill you most likely -D
  20. Well being a skylines forum, we are biased. I am particularly. I got an r31 aus executive auto, blew auto, got manual installed, blew diff, got custom diff installed, lowered it, got mags etc....loved every minute of owning it, and it was on lpg too.... it was the perfect introduction to cars and not too expensive, not too powerful for a beginner, but powerful enough.... aus r31's are a cheap first car, esp if you dont want a turbo. the NA rb30 is no slouch and is a very well balanced engine, and one that is well suited to the beginner. what to look out for their interiors dont look so great, the automatic gearboxes have a very harsh shift, manuals are much better. The diffs are often loose and if punishing it (towing etc) you might blow it, depending on age/condition of car. I didnt have any issues with my r31 until I wrote it off ;P One thing to remember is theyre usually fairly old. If going for an aus r31, get a series 3, 1989 or 1990 - theyre the r31s with the hotplate tail and the sleek looking front end... the exec is the bottom model, the silhouette the top model (aside from the gts1 and gts2 - which are outside the 12k pricerange). Shop around, there are loads of great r31's out there. And when you hit 25 you can buy a turbo and not pay a huge insurance penalty... thats what I did at least -D -D
  21. That is one HELL of a bargain. Fluval and Eheim are two of the best brands in aquariums. The ideal combination for tropical filtration for a 4 foot aquarium is 2x powerheads connected to a dual pipe undergravel bio filter tho, external filters are ok but not great. theyre like a box filter on steroids... -D EDIT - It will be an ordeal to move the fish and turtles in addition to the tank - be prepared to make more than a couple of visits, or get yourself a really large trailer... the fish will need to be bagged up and the turtles will need to be put in a tub, the gravel will fill a few bags, the plants will most likely get severely damaged in transit so take care to put them into a watery bag like the fish, driftwood can be put into the aquarium when its drained.... it'll take a fair while to catch the fish, drain the liquids and load it up so be prepared to spend an entire day doing it. and dont expect the fish to be too happy about it either... ;P -D
  22. think i saw nightcrawler on northeast road on his way to dinner... was returning from getting my fix of coke zero -D
  23. animals are nothing to be afraid of, provided you're prepared to take the time to learn their ways...even snakes and scorpions... We even had a pet amazon cockroach. theyre around 2 inches (5cm) long and actually like to be petted, and they can be taught to do tricks (like mazes, and to put their upper body on a cotton spool and walking it along the place...etc)... its great because i can see the individual quirks in all the animals we've had Still that doesnt mean im a PETA stooge. Bring on the Lamb chops for australia day. Matter of fact, bring me a live cow. I'll carve off what I want to bbq and ride the rest home -D
  24. I just recently had this exact same problem - turned out it was the fusible link after all, except mine was coming on when i revved the engine past 3k rather than the brake pedal. -D
  25. To add to this ; picked up the car, its running great and everythings working, and the job was top notch. I have to give it to Clisby Auto Electrical in Nailsworth (Main North Road). I took the car there this morning (without an appointment I might add) and they managed to fit me in today, and didnt charge me too much. Highly recommended! -D
