  1. Yeah fish are great. I have 3 ferrets which are the funniest animal imaginable to watch. Theyre like Tyrone Biggums after he's just snorted a big line, totally hyper... Our house in general is like a zoo. My bro is doing animal husbandry at uni (after being in the pet biz for 10 years) and we have snakes, scorpions, hermit crabs, turtles, fish, green tree frogs, sugar gliders, a bearded dragon and a water dragon, probably more but I've forgotten just how many we have - its hard to keep track.. -D
  2. Yeah that would be a smart dog. We have 2, a Kelpie x Border Collie and a purebred Labrador.. The Labrador is bloody dumb. As in so stupid I think it actually is retarded. Its fat and lazy, always wants food and hogs all the affection. The Kelpie cross is smart, but obsessed with chasing tennis balls. Shes a brilliant guard dog tho, barks at everyone that passes by and cuts sick if they try and get inside the yard. Every skyline should come with one imho... -D
  3. Took car to auto electrician this morning - turns out it was the fusible link that had corroded. Dude at the auto leccy replaced it and added two bigger terminals to fit my optima battery. Can't wait to pick it up.... total cost is around the $100 mark too, which is great (considering I was worried that the entire car's electrics had died). Bonza -D
  4. Didn't notice the rims but your car looks exactly the same from the front (would have been between 8:30-9am, along that road that heads north/south with the median strip - the one with the bowling place -D
  5. Quick update - took car to auto electrician, he diagnosed a corroded fusible link which was totally replaced. $100 later and its all fixed, and I get to use my new yellow optima battery. Quoth Homer Simpson... "Woohoo!" -D
  6. saw a nice silver 34 this morning in norwood - if you're on here, i was the dude gawking in the seca looks v nice -D
  7. so did u get a new engine? -D

  9. Yes, they take standard globe fittings, 666Dan has a thread about it all. Do a search and you'll see how to do it -D
  10. Hi Folks Yesterday when starting the car, the engine turned over but none of the electrics (except head unit) were working. Aircon, centre gauges, gauge cluster, electric windows, indicators were all off. I reversed out of the garage and started down the road, around the 3k mark all the instrumentation kicks in, with hicas, attessa and abs all flashing their lights. All other instruments started working. The battery charge is around 12.2 volts, so I've bought another battery to put in there tomorrow to test (but will need battery terminals changed first). I'm wondering if this is definately a battery issue or if there is another electrical problem somewhere? Has anyone come across this before? The alternator is providing 14 volts when driving so I'm guessing the battery has enough amps to tick over but not the voltage to start the electronics, and then once the alt managest to put enough out, it all starts up again... at least thats what Im hoping... Any advice guys? Cheers -D
  11. +1. If a man had a wife like that, he wouldnt need gutbusters -D
  12. Man who do u think u are, Flava Flav on a bike? hahaha ;D -D
  13. Yeah, the Yellow Optima is an AGM dual purpose battery. I've heard of these things being left connected to a car for a year and then cranking over the first time (tho why you wouldnt disconnect a battery is beyond me). They also have a decent amount of CCA and a nice chunk of AH... so it should withstand my driving habits a bit better (I tend to do many short trips, so the battery doesnt always get its charge back - 15 minutes to and from work doesnt really charge the battery, especially when I have the aircon and the stereo cranked) -D
  14. Ideally yes, but the battery has been drained below 12 volts on several occasions - once you take a battery below 12volts, it very rarely comes good again, even the sealed gel batteries (which is what I have). The deep cycle batteries specifically can handle complete drainage (hence deep cycle) which is why I've decided to get one - so now my stereo hopefully wont interfere with the running of the actual car ;P -D
  15. Yeah I had alternator issues in 2007 just after I bought the car. The voltage gauge in the GTR dropped from the std 14 to 12 and the hicas cut out (hicas needs 13 volts to run). Considering the instrumentation isnt coming on when the engine is off, but comes on when the alternator has put a bit of oomph on the current, its powering up a system that refuses to power up on a lesser current/amperage (not sure how theyve based it). I know the battery has been in there for longer than two years, and possibly longer than that (I'll have to check with writeoff if that batt came with the car - if its lasted more than 3 years then that kinda explains it) -D
  16. Nah its not the light switch, and definately not the alternator. I get a 14v constant when driving. It dips when I turn the aircon on, for half a second, but I think its def the battery... it might have the voltage but not necessarily the amperage required. -D
  17. *sigh* well some weird stuff is goin on with the GTR. I suspect its the battery causing it. Engine cranks over but the electronics in the car dont - not initially anyhow when i put it in 1st and drive past 2500rpm for the first time, all of the instrumentation comes back on, the windows and aircon, indicators and internal lights start working again, but with the ABS, Hicas and 4WD lights all flashing.... then after a while all bar the Hicas light goes out and I'm back in action - albeit with a twitch hicas I suspect that the lack of voltage in my battery (it was 12.5 last nite so I'm pretty sure its shagged - charged to 13.4volt overnight) is causing the electronics to stay off until they have enough power to run, and then they switch on. Its strange behavior but it would make sense in a way. In either case, I've just bought an Optima yellow D51 battery. Hopefully that'll make the issues disappear - I'll know if thats the case or not later this evening. Not cheap tho. $350. I know I could have got a standard batt but I've heard real good things about these yellow tops -D
  18. Spotted a white 33 with spoiler lip in Ward St North Adel around 1:30.... RBR 025 I think? was a tad distracted as I went past -D
  19. Hrm... in that case im even more confused, I usually notice all skylines on the road.... did ya stick yr hand out the window or was the window tinted? wouldnt have noticed a wave otherwise heh -D
  20. Hrm. Funny joke but not true; http://www.hoax-slayer.com/cosgrove-female-interviewer.shtml -D
  21. Cossie's a champ... one of the few senior officers in the command division that follows the rules of the Military before the rules of Politics (aka not Chris Barrie) -D
  22. hrm isnt that hillzy's car (RBR 033) ? -D
  23. Hrm shit, u saw me again? Or u were driving the 33 the other day? Yeah I hate kasey chambers like the french hate the english... every time I hear her on the radio, i change station (which is why I only can parody the first verse, buggered if i know what the rest is) -D
  24. +1 ;\ I've been present at the birth of a child before, and I saw the birthing. Theres nothing wrong with that... sure its not a simple, clean experience, but neither are a bunch of other things in life. It certainly changes your perspective, cause now the baby is now 13 years old... Having said that, I don't plan to have kids.... ;P Not because of childbirth incidentally. I just think children aren't worth the hassle > (Listen to some Bill Hicks if u dont get it) (oh and parents, plz dont get offended, its just my opinion) Love -Uncle D
  25. Yeah that has more torque than a bus full of american cheerleaders -D
