I wouldnt let bob jane prospect anywhere near my car. theyre the same monkeys that ended up putting shallow bolts on my wheels, only to have them force the thread into the bolt (and then having the thread burst THRU the bolt).... took my mechanic an hour to remove their shitty handwork, repair my hubs and put the correct bolts on. Never again trusting those mollusks, the wheel wasnt even making flush contact with the hub... fkn amateurs -D Edit - If you want someone who wont stuff your wheels up, go see Andrew at Goodyear Autocare, 215 Nth East Road, Hampstead Gardens ph 82612811.. Got my Toyo T1R's fitted and balanced there, had no complaints at all...

what do jun make for turbo application? Theyre very quiet at idle but anything over 2500 rpm is a very throaty sound -D

Haha pwnt.. Uleh! Toula just sat on his car! Oh ma gawd shes fat.. -D

Price isnt relevant because he does a good job. I went there twice, firstly to get my pre-bought mufflers fitted and then secondly to get the resonator fitted and the angle of the zorst modified... both times he did me a nice deal (I'm not going to state here for obvious reasons, but I walked away both times happy with the amount he'd paid me versus the time it took him to do the job), And I'll be going back to get a new cat, dumps and possible a mid mounted barrel muffler to make it even quieter -D

Hrm I'm lazy. I'm gonna try the gumption and then perhaps just pay someone to detail mah car. Has never been detailed since I got the car, so probably about time I get it done... do detailers repair paint chips and what not? Anyone got any detailers they can recommend ? -D

gps is extremely accurate for military applications however they remove the accuracy for civilian use. still, its accurate enough. it works via measuring the distance to the nearest 4 gps satellites and then using triliteration to calculate the location. so by definition, it does infact poll satellites and does have unique identifiers (similar to a network cards mac address). Whether or not they do datalogging from the satellite side, its another story. Some GPS client devices do logging... End of the day, there are almost 6.8 billion people on this planet. No computer technology these days has a) the capacity b) the I/O and c) the AI to be of any practical use. Theres simply no way any agency or government can totally track individuals. There are technologies such as echelon which are massive data processing looms that examine phone conversations, photo identity, sms/email/mail, and internet traffics however the technology is only a means for known searches to happen. Ala doing a google search. You have to know what you're looking for to actually make use of the technology. It wont pre-emptively/intuitively discover nefarious behavior, that is where good old fashioned police intuition comes into play. And when that comes into play, it becomes a simple matter of flying lower than the radar scans. Keep your head down and dont attract attention to yourself. Ahh such a great philosophy. Helps with so many facets of life it just depends on how determined people are to find an individual. (end rant)

+1 for Mark at ET. Top bloke, does excellent work. Couldn't be happier with my twin JunBL spiral mufflers and resonator. -D

How is it that you were 'keeping up with the traffic' and yet did 20 kph over the limit. Are you suggesting that everyone on the road was speeding as well? I seriously doubt that quoted '90% of people have lost their licence'...Sounds like the old 80/20 rule. 80% of all statistics are made up bullshit. Pun intended. -D
-
hooray!! thats great news -D
-
I think you have a point there given the wheel slip/loss of actual speed but I for one would love u to lend ruby ur tracking kit.... looks hardcore good (certainly looks better than the home made telemetry system im building) -D

For insurance purposes its 17k. The costs of importing and compliancing have to be factored into the claim, because if your car is written off they need to spend that proportionate amount getting you a replacement (or thats how much they'll give u in order to get a replacement)... however for stamp duty, $10k is technically what you paid for the item, so you can save your cash that way... (since stamp duty doesnt apply to parts or labor) -D

Aussie superbikes can get up to 280 on that back straight.... rubys Brutale could easily do that 225... -D

no way in hell anyone gets comprehensive for that much for that age.... my comprehensive insurances have been (all rating 1) I was paying $1200 thru aami for an r31 executive's (1990, agreed for $4000) comprehensive when I was 22 I was paying $800 thru justcar for my vn commodore (1990, agreed for $2000) when I was 25 I'm now paying $1450 thru shannons for my gtr (1989, import, agreed for $25k) and I'm nearly 30... Theres just no way, aside from the 50/50 issue that Nightcrawler already mentioned.... -D
-
Yeah thats right. and thats why I changed to shannons.... Currently insured at $25k but I'll be getting them to inspect it sometime to negotiate a $30k policy its turned out cheaper than I was quoted, ended up being $1500 odd for a year and when I get my diff cams licences they'll knock a bit off too... Justcar are very stingy -D

Meh I've had my custom plates for 6 months now, never had >any< hassles from the police. I got pulled over once for bretho/licence check when I had my standard SA plates but police have been good to me. Maybe they have a computer system and it says 'Dohmar is a legend' and they just say 'cool' and continue on their way... Even cruising in a loud gear with my sub up a bit last nite, cops let me go past. They ignored me when I went past a random drug test in my suburb on fri too so who knows... that said, my car is mostly stock so I dont attract attention, and I dont rev it hard like a twit... since I got jack to install my sub last nite, I've only been on a couple rides so we'll see how much a sub attracts them. And whether theyre prejudiced against any certain genre of music, be it rap (weed smokers), dance (eccy and acid trippers), heavy metal (alcoholics) or opera (winos).... we shall see! -D
-
Ive got one built in also, and its set to the lowest setting. quite frankly i quite like it... if its a cold morning and im stopping at the corner shop before cruising onto someone else, i dont mind the tt letting the car warm up As long as the car is in line of sight... I generally dont let it run when im out of visual/audible range... and the keyfob lets me cut the ignition at any point, so i generally hit it while walking away from the car... fixed turbo timers are a bit of a bore but I quite like mine -D

Checked all the fuses? -D
