  1. Oh yeah Rueben. You don't even want to know the amount of times we had job applications at the ISP I worked at from Uni CS graduates. You'd ask them to demonstrate how to set up a dial up network connection. They'd ask 'Wheres the wizard?'.... Programmers != support. Mind you MSCE's are just as bad. Had one apply who didnt know what DNS was. Needless to say, neither of them got jobs. -D
  2. Andrew (Blue32) did 1:17 when he did his run at mallala. 2 seconds slower than the lamborghini gallardo -D
  3. What does it mean if a bogan chick is only wearing one socK? Hangon. no. Won't go there. Too early in the night -D
  4. some are actually ok pete. but im talking about the uber expensive discs that have the holes added while the metal is still red hot and annealing.... metal gets most of its bonded durability during the cooldown, so as long as the holes are done during the construction, its generally a lot safer. Also most professional brands dont actually put the holes in on the outer edge of the rotor, only on the inside and middle (being that a disc rotates a lot faster on the outside and thats where all the brake stresses are). Think of Samurai Swords as a point in case. The swordsmiths will coat the back end of the sword in clay while its still red hot and then they'll cool the blade with water. The blade edge stays hard cause its cooled quicker which is good for sharpness, however its very brittle. The back side of the blade is soft and flexible and can withstand the shock of the saber actually hitting something (or being hit). Without the annealing no samurai sword would be able to withstand even a flesh contact without being damaged. Folding was only ever done because of the exceptionally low quality steel in Japan, they had to do it... Tho I do agree with you... Braking effects are like trying to rip the brake disc in 2 pieces, the side leaving the pad and the side entering the pad.. having a drilled hole is just asking for trouble, and considering most of us are just doing daily driving/occasional track then you'd be bonkers to stick cross drilled rotors on and then go track em ;P The DBA's have failed for a lot of people and theres an entire thread dedicated to them. RDA for my money, perhaps the dimpling is overkill but I wouldn't say no to the extra speed reduction (esp since I don't track the car). -D
  5. Yeah. That crack would have formed on the drilled hole and worked its way outward and then once it'd reached the end of the disc, it would've started to crack inward. Good thing u spotted it. I dont know what happens when discs shatter but I can imagine it wouldnt be nice... -D
  6. If you buy them specifically designed with the cross drill/holes already in then they're probably the goods but if theyre drilled after the rotor is fabricated you'll definately have problems. Check out the thread from last weekend where blue32 and some other guys took their cars up there. Someone (cant remember who) had a cracked rotor which went right thru one of the outer most drill holes. Drilling thru metal undermines the structural integrity (Same problem the early metal aircraft used to have major problems with rivet holes developing stress fatigue on the fuselage which resulted in several aircraft lost before they changed their methods). Think of it like a piece of cloth that you stretch, if theres already a hole in the middle, thats the weak spot and thats where any rips are going to develop from... Disc brakes these days are ventilated anyhow which keeps them relatively cool, the slotting as noted is to disperse the gas and the dust from the pads themselves. For a good read, check this out ; http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml Theres a reason the RDA discs dont actually drill the entire way thru the disc. Go for slotted rotors before x-drilled, and only go to x-drilled when the slotted and dimpled ones arent good enuff (by that time you're paying enormous amounts for proper x-drilled rotors anyhow) -D
  7. Yep Theyre the Goods, I'll be getting a set for all 4 wheels when my gearbox is replaced -D
  8. I got a copy if u wanna bring a dual layer dvd over for the burnination -D
  9. drilling rotors that arent made to be drilled will cause stress fractures under high temps... get the RDA gold slotted/dimpled rotor from the group buy thread, theyre good value for money -D
  10. Hrm 2 Dogs, 3 Ferrets, Birds, 2 Sugar Gliders, a Thorny Dragon, 5 snakes, scorpions, hermit crabs, huge ass cockroaches, green tree frogs, a bunch of fish and some turtles. Yeah we got enuff pets I think -D
  11. Her donuts brings all the boys to the yard and they laik 'yum dis better than yars' damn rite, its better than yars, she could cream u too but she'd have to charge -D
  12. Seriously. why are we even having this discussion? rev limiters that make stupid amounts of noise or screamer pipes, are simply obnoxious. Theyre pissweak and lame, why the hell would u want to pose so hard? no style, no class... If ur gonna make more noise than is absolutely necessary, it falls in the category of wank. Fair enuff if u gotta make noise to get hp in track situations, go for it, but if you're gonna pretend to be a street machine, the last thing i'd be wanting to hear is some butthole burning petrol outside my crib. I'd 'release the hounds', grab the shotgun and call the bacon. time and a place people.. a little respect never went astray Love, your local, opinionated bastard, -D
  13. Roflcopter! -D
  14. Couldnt have said it better. Ever considered a career in hostage negotiation ruby? -D
  15. a) she invites people (by posting the thread) b) she plans the route c) she makes sure that the police dont harrass the group by making sure that people dont act like morons and put themselves, other cruise attendees and the general public at risk d) she makes it very clear from the start of the run that if you're going to be a knob, that she doesnt want to be followed. I think that pretty much sums it up. Shes not going to piss on anyone elses parade, and if you or anyone else want to have a drifting, beer screamer cruise, she won't stand in your way. I think most of us would simply have the good manners to not attend. I for one don't want to go on cruises with cowboys, so thats why I'm with her 100% on this one. Play nice, or get out imho. -D
  16. my 2c is, if you go, behave like you're supposed to behave aka not like a twit. That said, if you do want to drive like an assclown after the cruise, thats your business, just don't go doing it around the rest of the pack. If people start acting like immature little runts then the meets become invite only, which stuffs it cause a) get less people and b) its not as spontaneous or fun. Re police, we want people to be acting within the law so the police DONT bother us, and so far everyones been ok with the exception of 1 or 2 boy racers who couldn't keep their dicks off the accelerator. Considering they know that its being organized by someone who actually cares about these things, it makes them less likely to pull people over and defecting. I wasnt there so I cant comment on specifics but I'm wondering, if nathan wasn't doing his exhaust tricks near the cruise, then how come people who were on the cruise know about it? It hasn't been the first time either, so a little respect is required here. Don't screw with people, they won't screw with you. If everyone plays nice, we can have cupcakes and lemonade, hold hands and sing kumbaya. Wouldn't that be something now? -D
  17. Roflhovercraft. Yeah everyone said the sat cruise was awesome, damn shame I missed it. Will try to get to this one for sure (she said the D word) -D
