You know, I wouldnt even be so pithy to relegate it to be the coffers Anyone who dares run for office is without a doubt, going to be corrupted. All politicians are bastards. Especially the politicians I just voted for, regardless of party or time. Put it this way: Politics as it stands is supposed to be a perfect representation of society as a whole. So, if there are 50% men and 50% women, then surely that should be the gender split. Same could be said about any single classification u could think of. Skin color, genetic heritage, hair color, eye color, etc. When it all comes down to it, its all a load of bollocks. And so when I see our 'conservative' politicians whinge about "Australian culture" being different to their upbringing? U know what I say? Stiff, f**king, Shit. The world, and the human race, are a project in evolution. What the current generations have to deal with, is that the world can and will change drastically over the next millennia. Our society today is nothing like it was 100 years ago, so we'd best not be emo dickheads and start slashing our wrists over evolution. We are who we want ourselves to be. Mankind was born with free will. I hate to invoke such a decisive topic as religion, but sometimes, religions actually agree with each other. For the most part, they agree that mankind was created with the ability to think for his or her self. its a damn shame that people choose to be stupid, and ignore commonsense for politics or some outdated notion of honor, or cleanliness, or intelligence. 'Cause when u get down to it. Everything is just bullshit. -D

Heya Pete Im not gonna confirm or deny my past cause thats a contraversial subject for people in and out of the system....and fyi yes it was a long time I was involved in anything, however policing was not one of those things. Think outside the square, you'll get there eventually (or u could just pm me ;P) Owning a skyline in itself is reason enough to be pulled over, regardless of vehicular appearance or driver clothing. Its a very complicated subject, which is why lawyers earn more money than me. ;D Im not a cop, I'm not a lawyer, and I'm not a criminal. I just happen to believe in due process, democracy and all the cute and fuzzy BS that goes with it. I willl not ever, accept infractions upon a persons individual right for the sake of typecasting, political points or the simple jursidictional ease that seems to be the rote these days. Our politicians recently have been a major f**king disappointment. Im not partisan by any means (I consider myself the definitave swing voter) but these state laws against bikies are a major infraction against several UN conventions about political gatherings, not to mention that they contravene the basic roman tenet that a man/group is 'innocent until PROVEN guilty' Look. I could harp on for f**king hours about this shit. To the Nth degree, the sad thing is I feel like Im talking to a brick wall. What u guys must realize is that the Law is something that is designed to >Work FOR you<. Its a sad fact that the law has been perverted over the years due to conservative politicians and the general apathy from the public. People are so lazy, so ignorant, that they dont bloody CARE about the laws that get passed that they have to bind themselves to. The 50kph laws, speeding laws for 5% tolerances, are a perfect point. The problem is, we have scumbags running for office. Wolves in sheeps clothing. Do you honestly thing that there is a difference with labour or liberal? Not a flipping chance. Now I dont usually dribble shit about politics but I'm on some special sauce tonight. I'll leave this post open so people can countermand my views or disagree, because there is nothing I relish more than people telling me that I'm wrong, and even more so, when they tell me >why< they disagree. DIssent has always been the zenith of a free and open society. Once we start supressing >anyones< views, especially the minority, then we are at best cutting a part of our own social psyche off, and throwing it in the bin. And if we do that, then, I would refer ya'll to the "Fail" thread, because that, Sirs and Madams, is the best case scenario if we are to deny ourselves. $0.03c -D

I can better that. I lost my licence for drink driving/dangerous driving for 6 months back in 2001. Basically Id never had illusions before (some pineapple pussy drink with vodka/midori) and I sped up montefiori hill and tried to negotiate a 25kph corner at 80kph, in the wet (aka Wellington Square) and ended up crashing thru a pole and the square itself, >right infront of the cops<. I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the silhouette of the lights and just said 'f**kit'. Dude came up said 'Please exit the car' and it was all protocol from there on in. 6month loss of licence. $1000 fines, $1000 legal bill, $4k car repairs. Never ever ever ever will this happen again. Im anal about drink driving now. So yeah, a lesson learnt for the good. And if any of u out there are risking it, think twice ffs. It'll hurt u way more than it hurts the state -D

Well its the old story about accountability. Don't forget that cops are subjected to >massive< internal pressure to do it right. As it stands I think there are 3 different agencies that investigate police officers for misconduct depending on the situation. Once a bonnet or boot is asked to be inspect, it escalates into a second condition. Pulling over a person is one thing, but searching the vehicle whether it be boot, bonnet or interior, is another thing. If there was any question about drugs, they would have demanded an inspection, so I think that comment was psychological baiting at best (aka attitude test). And I certainly don't think they would've filed any such notes as a) indicating you may be low would require them to explain to their superiors how the came to that conclusion so if they didnt measure it then its not worth reporting. and b) I think they just wanted to suss you out, and if you were on drugs/carried drugs your subtle responses would have given you away even before you thought of a response. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. They can ask you to do all sorts of things, but they have to cover their own asses. And everything they do in the field must be recorded and logged verbatim, so theres stacks of paperwork for the modern cop to go thru. Its not just about pullin' the bad dudes over and bustin' some caps. You passed the test man. Breathe easy. The only hassle you'll get is from someone hating/being thorough. -D

I've historically earnt anywhere from $25-30k when I was younger, but now I have more experience I can command more. Nowadays I'm over $50k but only just. And back when I was running a business from home part time, my profits (after expenses and tax) were as low as $25k. So theres a big leeway. I think even if I won lotto, I'd still work at my current job. By far its the most enjoyable job I've ever had and I'm very greatful for it. I had a nightmare job for 2 weeks early this year which reminded me how badly life can suck (and for $35k too, it was no wonder I quit within a fortnight. Assholes took 2 months to pay me the 2 weeks wages too, and even then withdrew 48% tax). Working for yourself might seem like the dream job but it comes with so many headaches. I personally hated it. Sure the flexibility was nice but you had to work twice as hard just to get the business. And even then it was no guarantee you'd get repeat business or word of mouth from the same people. Granted this can vary from trade to trade, and in some cases working for yourself can be a huge bonus, but if you're not business oriented (like me, I'm a technical brain, $ i have no clue), have no idea about tax, insurance, 3rd party costs, accounting, invoicing, debt collection and administration and most importantly, operational details, then you have no chance. Would be nice for the more business oriented blokes to give their 2c. As well as the accountant types who havent got a clue how to hold a screwdriver...and any of u guys out there doing it on your own; what is it, that makes a sole trader successful? I know I love working for this company, even if I am a subcontractor. Its so much better than being a sole trader. -D

Its pretty simple they used the speeding excuse as a pretense to pull you over. They can pull you over without evidence They did not have evidence as to the speeding (they didnt have a camera and their word wouldnt stand up in court) They found that you passed the attitude test and u werent a tosser. D's can't defect you because there are not many traffic detectives. Traffic offences are for the most part classed as misdemeanor s (aside from homocide using automotive as weapon/driving vehicle with intent to kill), so they tend to put D's on stuff like Murder, Burglary, Assaults, etc. Aka >where they're supposed to be<. But don't forget, to become a detective, you need to spend a fair amount of time as a constable/sergeant before they can apply to do the detective course. So those guys probably just felt like pulling you over for old times sake/to suss you out. Remember, the pretense that you're pulled over with may not be the intent that they pull you over for. The only people who have something to hide are criminals/drunks/druggers. For my 2c, I have no problems when stuff like this happens. A) It means theyre actively looking for dodgy skyline drivers, B) It means that if you're not the 'boy racer' stereotype then you only have the attitude test to worry about. I've been pulled over a couple of times since I got the GTR but never defected. Provided good people don't get defected for minor infractions, I'm happy. Stuff like atmospheric Bovs, screamers, seriously loud exhausts should get defected. Its a big 'f**k you' to the environment and everyone whos neighbourhood u drive thru. However, considering the last few weeks worth of skyline thefts, I'm quite happy to deal with the inconvenience of getting pulled over, so long as I know that if any twit in a stolen skyline would be subjected to the same. And considering my numberplate is rather visible, I hope that I get known for my car in a good way. -D

Well I was always quite partial to trailbikes as a kid, was more wondering what a harley/offroad bike would look like. Similar tyres, hardcore suspension, and some more ground clearance. I'm not saying change the ride posture or make it for jumping busses, but for a general, tough as nuts off road bike. Perhaps its a stupid idea but that bike up there reminds me of steve mcqueen going across a paddock and jumping a fence (with smaller wheels heh). Basically Mad Max on a hardcore Harley... $0.02c -D

Yah. I sometimes have dreams where my car gets stolen in spite of the locked garage, the two hungry dogs, the $1000 security system and the $50 clublock. Sucks royally. And whenever I hear the dogs bark I'm tempted to run outside with a katana. Paranoid? Me? Never! -D

Its always been 2 inches above what came on the car stock. So for a '32 gtr, max is 18", for a 33 gtr, 19" for a '34 gtr, 20".... whether or not the tyre/rim is suitable for your setup, I guess that depends on the car in question but from what I understand, the 18" is the most I can put on my GTR. Which suits me fine cause I think the r34 gtr rims are pimp. So if any of u guys with 34gtrs get 20's, I'll take yr old rims > -D

Sadly there arent really any entry level jobs in the mines. They usually recruit from all over the world and get the best people for the job ;\ If you got a degree in ore refinery, mining, OH&S or anything like that, theyd probably look at ya. In any case if u guys want a job at the mines, check seek.com.au cause thats where all the jobs get advertised. -D

Spotted MissR34 yesterday as well as 2 silver 33's, one turning into mawson lakes, the other near parafield airport. -D

Totally agree. It just had ZERO playability. Thats what happens when you take a good franchise off the people who made it good and let it go to some 3rd rate software house. Raven software are one of the best, still can't believe they didnt get a chance to make SOF3.. -D
