So do I.... and I'd hardly consider their job to be easy.... nor would I consider the salary to be much of an incentive... most cops are OK, its just that theyre only human and sometimes the stress gets to em and they lash out/vent steam (like my job nuts me too sometimes)... problem is they are public servants, and have to deal with a lot of crap. Me however, I don't have that level of oversight. I'd agree with the point you made, that if someones trying to steal/damage property or harm you/your loved ones, then by all means, show them the seven levels of hell... police in most cases would agree with you defending yourself/property. For my $0.02c, I know that even if the police were paying $80k a year I still wouldn't do it...its a very tough job, replete with a stupid amount of paperwork and procedure... the average policeman gets $40k salaries which is why so many of them get into a second business to help them make ends meet. -D

Heh I like the spraypaint part of that plan, aside from having all ur mates waiting in the dark, cold confines of the driveway on a nightly basis... seriously tho, the guard dog idea is great, not only do they protect your property and your personal safety, theyre also great companions and friends... if you can have pets at your location, a big ass german shepherd or red heeler would be great... and tho some people might laugh, Corgis make excellent guard dogs too (trust me, theyre a medium sized dog with short legs, they >can< bite really hard). Still, the idea of spraying a would be thief with fluro orange makes me chuckle.. -D

Its worth reporting it to your local copshop. I dunno what your house is like security wise, but locks are good, guard dogs are better. If you can get some mace it wouldnt be a bad start (tho i dunno how legal it is) but I think you're right that a couple of people could overpower you, and you wouldnt want to put your safety at risk for the sake of the car... I keep mine locked behind a garage which cant be opened from the street and have 2 dogs which happen to enjoy barking at anyone who even walks past.... to quote Mr T "I pity the fool" who tries to gain entry. +1 for dogs... (Tho in canada, they have mooses. I'd rather have a guard moose than a guard dog) -Doh

I've been pulled over with a sword in the boot too, however it was wrapped in a cotton carrysack and then locked into a sword case.. cop said there was no problem with that, but if I'd had the sword unwrapped, or in the cabin, then he would've had to charge me. He didnt even get me to open the sword case after I told him what was in there *shrug*... and being an IT guy, I've always got screwdrivers in the cabin as well as the club lock, never had any problems with them in that regard.. re: 30cm ruler, yeah, u can do the same stuff with a pair of Wok in a Box chopsticks... (see Kill Bill lols) -Doh
