  3. Question about removing the stock 3 piece gauges; Ive taken of the front fascia and unscrewed the metal frame that houses the Aircon and the stereo, but I cant seem to get the gauges to slide out... they seem to be stuck behind a piece of black plastic which I cant see the bolt points for.... can anyone give me a heads up how to do this? Thanks! -Dohmar
  4. No such thing as safe it seems I got a great alarm system and I park in highly visible locations when I have to go anywhere, yet I still worry like hell. Hearing all these people getting their cars jacked pisses me off. makes me wanna bus caps in they azz. Any place populated by youngsters is gonna be a hotspot. TTP, Marion, Glenelg, City... one of these days tho, they'll end up getting caught in the act, and Im sure the owner won't be as merciful as the law wishes. If only I could have a tazer legally. *sigh* -D
  5. Spotted a Green R34 with bodykit on prospect road around 1:30, cute girl driving too -D
  6. spotted miss r34 on hampstead road at 4:30 or so also spotted a nice silver skyline w/ bodykit at the og road bottleshop -D
  7. Saw MissR34 heading north along Port Rush Road, right near burnside council area -D
  8. I figured out the cherry on top. In one of the Jackie Chans movies he runs over the bad dudes in a Hovercraft. Now all we need right, is someone to lend us a big oval or golf course, we bait the place with our skylines and as soon as a dude tries to steal one, we grab him and run him over in a hovercraft. That and a hovercraft. Pst me if u can lend me a hovercraft. Ty -Dohmar
  9. For some reason that reminded me of this commercial in robocop 2.... Dude breaks into a car... sits in the drivers seat....then gets surrounded arond the wrists and chest by metal strips. Dude is then electrocuted. Owner comes up, opens door, corpse falls out (still smoking) and the voiceover says "Because some times you need peace of mind" as the guy drives off. Lol. -D
  10. Depends on Skill vs Laziness vs Availability vs Attitude... Can be cheap, but if u know what ur doing and are willing to do the work. Can be expensive if theyre not in stock and u come to the supplier like a noob. Tis a damn good thing ur doing ur research here, cos u need to know a figure for all sorts of bits there, aside from labour. I wouldnt know where to start tbh... Just go there as prepared as u can be, from where im sitting ur asking in the right place. Maybe asking some peeps who are used to dealing with skylines like Road & Track, Boostworx, tillbroks or Graham West... they'd have a better idea than me, thats for sure. Hope this helps -D
  11. Yeah u can get out if the tension cable leading to the lock to the driver side boot release is actually accessible. Done it a few times when I owned a drop seat XF falcon. Those things rule for chuckin a sleeping bag and pillow in the bag. Almost as good as a sandman panelvan Dunno if the skylines have the cable lines hidden in the bodywork or if its just ran inside the top section of the boot lid... -D
  12. Today was S13 day. Saw around 7 of em. Saw either an S13/S14 with aftermarket mags, a phat paintjob and 'silvr-1' plates while heading west on Cross road near Goodwood. dude was lookin at gtr while having a cruise with his lady friend, I nodded back... if ur out there mate, nice wheels. The highlight of my day tho was seeing a deep purple XR6 with 'grimace' as the numberplates. How apt. Looked awesome tho -D
  13. Yeah, extremes. U said it... I want to make a video for Australias Funniest Home videos.... basically I put the car thieves in a bunny suit and let loose a pack of dobermanns... then i'll put the Benny Hill theme music in and loop the tape at twice the speed. Think i'd win? Seems to be lacking the cherry on top.... needs something MORE to be classic.. maybe get a ride on lawnmower or two.... dunno how to use them but lawnmowers are always cool. Twice that if theyre ride on. -D
  14. K I just checked in with the guys at the Auto leccy... They said that the rotor of the alternator was running "Open Circuit" (a wire broken or something) and theyre reckoning that its my driving style that causes it. (Ala, since I have a skyline and its noisy, then I must be thrashing it hard...). Ive told them I don't thrash it hard cause the engine and what not is all stock. They seem to think that noise = thrashing. Now. Can thrashing the car hard do this? I have a rev limiter at 8k and dont take it above 7k rpm.... so Im seriously wondering wtf is up.. The alt broke on an unsealed road when I was doing around 60kph... I dont call that thrashing it but hrm.. Thoughts? -D PS. So in total, SINCE I had the alternator back, theyve replaced : "The Regulator", "The Diodes", and "The Rotor".... makes me wonder if these dudes replaced a single fkn thing inside the alt. Next time I take it back he'll probably say the warp drive conduits had fried due to too much trilithium in the sump. Wtf.
  15. Hrm U know I wouldve preferred a replacement but the guys couldnt find a direct replacement in their book? Does anyone know of any serial numbers/model numbers for replacement alts? Do the alts on GTR's differ from the rest of the r32 series? From what I understand they did re-wind the alt firstly but Im agreeing with u, I think its a lemon. Cheers -D
  16. Haha Very Funny...;P Gloves, Beanies and a bandana over the face is typically the uniform of choice for theives. Boots too. the 3 assholes who came to my house being a prime example And yeh kalel, once u pull out a katana they tend to retreat damn quickly. Still wish I was able to pack heat. *shrug* Effectively the point is, u dress up so the dogs dont recognize u and u check if they go for ya. Train them first with a safety word, so when they lunge, u say the word and they back off. Easy stuff. Seen a couple Shepherds and a Boerboel who were trained guard dogs in this manner, more security in my mind than an entire division of cops on patrol. -D
  17. Hey dude I feel for ya. I was in a home invasion 18 months ago and it makes u wonder what the hell is going on with the world. My advice? Buy a couple big dogs. Don't feed em so often. Maybe even dress up as a burglar and jump ur own fence so u can see if they eat ya.. Got my GTR behind a garage, 2 dogs, motion sensor lights & video recording, as well as being less than 10 metres from my room & swords. I really pity the fool who tries this shit on me... Real glad ur car wasn't harmed. Rollerdoors are expensive to fix, but wouldve been far worse if theyd damaged ur baby -D PS. What suburb did this happen in? Perhaps we should start logging incidents ourselves on this website and see if we can't find any patterns...
  18. Heh looks exactly like the car Ali-G was streetracing in at 40kph. "Slow down man, what are u, crazy!?" -Dohmar
  19. Nah, its a stock GTR. Only different electrics are a clarion head unit, alarm system, century 20 ecu... as well as the usual hicas, attessa etc I cant think of anything that'd cause it to happen. I got a mobile phone charger that sits in the cig lighter socket... *shrug* The mechanic did say that vibration can cause diodes to go and I was indeed on a dirt road but.... GTRs arent supposed to be flimsy like this eh? I'd have thought a rebuild wouldve been "Disassemble, start from scratch, reassemble with new bits"... Wouldnt the auto electricians know how to do load tests and see if anything could be causing failure? I wouldn't know where to start. Would fuses prevent overloads like that? And how come the electrics could be drawing too much on the alternator, as far as I know they mainly run off the battery and the alt simply charges the voltage to charge the batt. (Im not mechanically minded, so i dont mind if im wrong and u guys have a laff hehe) just so frustrating. Long weekend, no wheels, and the car off the road for 2 days, again. Costs me money, makes me wonder if I should bite the bullet and buy a massively overpowered alternator brand new. -D
  20. Heyas Had the alternator die on my 32 gtr today. 4th time in 2 months. First time it failed, I took my car to Hampstead Auto Electrical. Paid $330 for them to full recondition it. Been told since by my mechanic at Road & Track that $330 rebuild is a little steep. First time it fails (within 24 hrs) I take it back. Their head guy says that this time they'll recondition it again. Blows again 2 days later. They then say that this time they'll replace the diodes. Alternator works ok for a month (OK being 14v but with noted fluctuations on startup and heavy load). Today while driving on a dirt road at Blakiston, the alternator again dies. Power steering, hicas all go to shit. Attessa works as per usual. Anyhow, I take it back to them today, they confirm the alt is having output issues (again) and will need the car on tues to take it out, fix the fkn thing and then put it back in... My question is, are alternators on GTRs "THAT" fragile? I mean GTRs are sposed to be pretty ballsy, and if $330 is a hefty price to pay for an alt recon, then surely having the bugger work properly isnt too much to ask? I do have lowered springs, bilsteins and so the ride is very close but today I wasnt doing anything hefty..... Do I take it to another (Specialist?) gtr alternator mechanic or do i replace pulleys or do i buy some hardcore vibration dampening kit for the alt.... or do i ask these guys for my money back? Annoyed. Long weekend and I cant go down to the shops n buy milk. Hating it.
  21. lol for a 7 odd liter engine, you'd bloody wanna hope so! -D
  22. I dunno. Im one of those alfalfa munchin hippie types so kindly referred to in prior posts (waves) so I feel guilty as it is owning a GTR and flogging thru $120 worth of high octane per week... that, and i really have an insane irrational vindictive hatred against 4wd's and their owners.... Sure, the petrol they guzzle is one thing, but its the mentality of people who drive em... like theyre in an M1 Abrams main battle tank... "Right this looks smaller than me, lets drive the f**k over it..." and you know ive seen that more than a few times. And then there are those that do their right hand turn on a dual lane main road and stop on the middle of the road while they wait for incoming traffic. Like the entire main road has to stop just because this coight decides hes in a f**king brick with wheels and doesnt wanna wait. (And my dad has an ML320 mercedes and he does this shit all the f**king time and the dumb bastard just doesnt listen) *hyperventilation* jk.... or when you're behind a 4wd trying to do a right hander in peak hour traffic...and you're smart enuff to drive left... u cant see the oncoming traffic cause some inconsiderate soccer mum with >0< passengers (aside from the gucci handbag and the small bag of capsicums on the passenger seat)..... shes smiling and waving and signalling that its all clear for me to do a left hand turn. HELL NO LADY. I've seen the way ya'll drive and its uglier than a bulldog with facial herpes. I'm sure as hell not takin' ur advice for turning..... The day they let people put 150mm ablative armor and fit the hummer with a radioisotope thermal generator and some nice high torque DC motors, i'll wake up and buy one.... and thats only so I can mount pintle .50 cal's to intimidate >other< 4wd owners.... cos u know, someone has to be king dick... /end rant ... or not? bwahahahaha jokes people, pls dont flame -D
  23. Nice but no cigar. U know what'd be nice? For a shitload of us to turn up at the court session for these punk arses.... wearing our SAU apparel, filming the whole bloody thing. Once we start getting dossiers on individuals, it'll make asshats think twice about joining rebadging cartels. I've been thru a home invasion before with 3 dudes and shotty, and if not for a nicely positioned samurai sword, I might not be here to tell the tale (not that I advise people to carry swords in their cars, the law looks on that in a whole different light) and I sure as hell would not put up with anyone trying to jack me. Sure I might get hurt, but u can get hurt walkin ur doggie. Time for people to say enough is enough and pin these cockroachs to the wall like the insectoid vermin they are. Take a screwdriver in ur car and tell em ur an IT tech. Keep a club lock which just 'conveniently' separates into a pair of lead batons. Sure a lot of u are gonna call out and say "let the police deal with it", but quite honestly when the first shots come down, all politics and diplomacy fly out the window. Reach for yours. my $0.02 -D
  24. Saw a white 33 GTR at Adelaide Pro Sound today, w Nismo stickers aswell as a Silver 33 GT Saw a black R32 GTR turning right off sound road near Flinders. -D
  25. Saw a Red/Maroon 33, looked like GTR (was travelling in opposite direction) heading city bound near mcintyre and north east road intersection. Saw a Black 32 GTR turning right just near the BP from the North East Road citybound slip lane. (I dont know the road he turned into, sorry for mong descriptions) and saw a nice white 33 near the library on fosters road (behind the Mobil). Also saw a girl in a White laser hatch overtaking me at 100kph on Grand junction road near Yatala. Made me laff. She was hawt. -D
