  1. haha f**ker... Its pretty unprofessional to join a company and then leave it 2-3 weeks later, especially when you know for a fact you wont be sticking around - its bad for your professional rep, it puts strain on the company and it also prevents some other dude who may have applied for the job getting it. (like a 2nd or 3rd preference). I understand mathematics and can see where you're getting at when you say 3-1=2 however I don't compromise for the sake of convenience. Atm I have interviews lined up with SA Health, Aust Submarine Corp, Futuris, a non profit org in the city and a support role at parliament house under the dept of infastructure and trade. Pretty confident at least one of those will pan out. If not, cest la vie, I'll just keep on keepin' on -D
  2. aha what do u want done? I only really do electrical and interior work heh nah dan, its in another place, i wont go into much more detail but I usually work for corporations. The few times I've worked with small support companies with only a couple people I've been pretty disappointed with the lack of professionalism (or should I say business planning), and these guys sound just like it... -D
  3. Not when I have another 3 interviews lined up. I know how much I'm worth, and a lowball offer like what they offered is nothing more than a tight arse insult - I wasn't impressed with their office and the fact its two guys working out the top of a pizza shop makes me not want to work there too. Doesnt matter, I'll get something soon, this I know. Its just a matter of whether or not I hold out for a CBD job or work in Edinburgh. Besides Ruby, weren't you saying that a persons lifestyle matches their income? I'd love to see you working on 2/3 your current salary. I'm sure you'd hate it. People get what they pay for and lowballers fail, both here and in the job market. I said it in two posts, one of which we were discussing wages. I'd hardly say that I 'keep going on about it' - where the hell do you get that shit from? I'm confortable about waiting for the right job, rather than wasting their time and potentially costing someone else a job, who would be happy to work for such a juniorburger wage. Only reason I've not got anything last month was because the IT scene generally stops around xmas as the business close over the break and people go on leave. Now its picked up quite a lot and I can bide my time and choose the right job. I'm hardly desperate, I'm just bored. -D
  4. Heh, well in the nearly 3 years of owning the car (and using it as my daily) I've only ever been pulled over twice, and I've had the custom plates for 2.5 years. My philosophy is the cops see the custom plates, it makes it easier for them to read and punch the info into their portable rego/licence/crim tracking system and then they see I've had bugger all infractions (aside from 55kph speeding ticket or two in a 50 zone) and then leave well alone... I reckon they'd be more likely to pull you over if your number plate was hard to read... Both times I was pulled over the cops were total champs, first one let me off even tho my licence was expired by 3 days (He said git'r'done within the week or there will be a fine, so I did it the very next working day) and the other one pulled me over just outside Prince Alfred College. Both times it was just a rego and bretho check, which I have no issue with whatsoever. Or maybe they just go easy on me cause I got stock rims and the car is white? Who knows -D
  5. ahahah, a good read guaranteed -D
  6. i would say no, most definately i might be a beggar but i sure as shit can still be choosy... amber petty is like the anti drug campaign. "Just Say No" -D Edit - you ever seen her face without the airbrushing? she looks like shes abused the meth at some point
  7. word. i had an offer made to me today but the salary they're offering is 2/3 what we actually discussed in the interview and over the phone. Think I'll wait for the next opportunity ;P -D
  8. the point of the gaffer tape is so u dont have to listen to her talk... -D
  9. -D
  10. Thats not my old 31. I wrote that car off in a 'freak drifting accident' -D
  11. Ahaha after some heavy airbrushing... u do realize shes holding her boobs for a reason, they probably look like badly fried eggs.. Ahh well, as long as u got the brown paper bag and some gaffer tape for her mouth, you might have a good time dude *thumbs up* diffrent strokes for diffrent folks and all that -D
  12. dunno i'd have to see em to make an opinion - if they're the same color as ur car they wont stand out as much while you're in motion tho as the stock wheel covers usually match the duco I had these auscar rims on my old 31, I think they suited the car pretty nicely. Cheapo bob jane rims that didnt suck... -D
  13. just need to make it stand out somehow with awesome rims or a custom number plate 4 doors are the ultimate sleepers, I bet the simple fact they have 4 doors means they get pulled over half as much by sapol -D
  14. ever visited an optometrist dude? or maybe u have that brown paper bag handy? -D
  15. Gotta love that stupid bitch Amber Petty. In her op-ed today about Michelle Chantelois she writes "I, for one, don't want to hear one more thing from Michelle Chantelois." Funny that. We have to put up with Ambers uninformed drivel based upon the fact she knows Princess Mary (so this makes one an authority, f**k me...) and yet she has the gall to tell someone to STFU when they actually might have something relevant to say about our illustrious dictator Herr Rann... Op ed pieces from nobodies like her are one of the reasons our media is so laughable. When you have a single woman pushing 40 who can't get a date, writing columns while pretending with a smug air to know so much about men, you just wish it would go away. Just like Amber wants Chantelois to disappear. In due time the political kerfuffle will die over and nobody will remember Michelle Chantelois, and yet, we all must suffer the misfortune of Ambers drivel. -D
  16. Thats certainly true about the lifestyle adapting to income. Uni graduates start much higher as they have their hecs debt plus they need to show something for (x) years of study. One of the reasons GPs (Doctors) get paid nicely is due to the 8 years required to do their Bsc/Mbbs, more so for specialists who take another 4-7 years on top of that - Which is why you find most specialists only start practicing in their early 30's.. Also re jmw's statement about earning cash in Melb and Syd, you get paid much more in those two cities due to the cost of living increase. A $65k job here in adelaide will probably be equal to $85k in Sydney, and I certainly wouldn't want to live in Syd or Melb so I'm happy sticking here on my Adelaide level wage. -D
  17. not having a job at the moment is a killer. -D
  18. yeah. i have to chiggidy check myself before i wriggidy wreck myself sometimes, makes me appreciate the $35ph rates when Im a contractor, but on the same token a lesser rate but more workers rights would be better in the long term. Now, if only I can find myself the next decent contract. Being unemployed over the last 2 months is a serious cock blocker -D
  19. trying to keep the cars spotted thread on topic so ; Not in IT its not. I'd love to know where u got those figures from, and whether those figures are skewed by including super. Median salary in IT is $50k pa fte, you're lucky to get anything over $65k pa fte unless you're a very high level programmer working in the defence sector. I'd love to get $50 per hour, but this excludes having an ABN and having to pay all the liabilities that come with self employment, income protection insurance, liability/indemnity insurance, life insurance/incapacitation insurance, superannuation, taxation, lodging bas statements etc etc. I was earning $55 per hr as a contractor under an ABN but when it came down to it, after the expenses and insurance it came down to around half that. Its ok if you've got a great accountant that can write off the majority of your personal expenses as a business expense, but even when I had a great accountant I still found myself paying extra for the hidden costs. Or maybe I'm just in the wrong game. If I could get $50 ph at a full time rate (without being a self proprieter) I'd count myself as very lucky indeed. Worth considering changing professions too, provided it doesnt require a uni course. -D
  20. The AME's look dope. I'd go with them -D
