  1. from the photo it *looks* like someone was drifting probably not, but that's a better story. anyway back on topic... does that look like rust in the first photo?
  2. I certainly hope that's the case. That's one of the reasons I'm looking to get a GT-R (not a R34 though). Drifting may be fun and good to show off on a skidpan, but it's not the fastest way around a corner. The exception is all the usual stuff though... incorrect suspension setup, different/worn tread on rear tires, messing with the g-sensors/computer...
  3. lol @ "cheezwayz" shame we weren't able to go up the twisties... I'd be able to show all of you what a AWD can do in the wet!!
  4. Testing out my new camera tonight as well... turns out it's not so easy to take photos in the dark without them being either blurry or underexposed. Anyway, some of the "better" ones. No, they're not photoshopped, although it looks like we're doing 180km/h in some of them wooo!
  5. Hey boys... thanks for organising this... we had lots of fun & was a great night, even though we had some s**t weather. Evidently it was good enough for some cheap thrills though... or maybe not so cheap for some anywho, look out for my piccies soon
  6. on my way now!!
  7. Quote: I thought that's exactly what I just said. Haha... i think i took too long to post and you beat me to it
  8. I think cruise control is great when a lot of highway driving (i.e. interstate), but if you're just driving to work on the local freeway, it's probably not so safe. People pop out from seemingly nowhere, change 4 lanes at a time, talk on their mobile and break suddenly. Also, it's not efficient on the windy or undulating roads. The first one's obvious (lots of speed changes required), the second one is that I find the cruise control system is reactive rather than proactive. A human will see a hill ahead and instinctively step on the gas a bit before the hill and likewise, ease off when nearing the top. The cruise control can't predict this, so it tends to struggle up the hill and overshoot at the top. This is assuming that generally you're in top gear (5th or 6th) on the highway, and has the least power/torque in this gear. It's a great "nice to have" for those long trips to NSW or whatever -- who says that sports / hi performance cars can't drive long distances? It allows you to relax a bit and not have to worry about the speed as much. But still no substitute for being alert and concentrating.
  9. Hey Brad, I'll probably tag along, but wondering if you have a route planned yet? I live out in the SE suburbs and would prefer not to have to drive up to preston and back down again
  10. I've always wondered about that... how does a burnout work in a AWD car such as the GT-R? Is it even possible without wreaking the ATTESA and seriously heating up the oils in the diffs/clutches?
  11. Man, sucks to hear that... sounds like it's not too serious though and you'll have your 31 back on the road in no time, good as ...errr... new?
  12. That's a pretty nice price, and the mods sound quite tasteful... you should be very happy. I was driving behind a R33 GTS-T yesterday on the GOR cruise for a couple 'o hundred km, and it's a damn nice car. I definitely can't keep up when it's floored... I'll catch up eventually though when other traffic holds em up Also, thanks for the link cheez, I hadn't seen that one before, looks ace! So much to read....
  13. You guys got some awesome pics so far. Here are some that I took...
  14. So that was you.... we saw a white R33 going the other way and wondered who they were. Must've been cool to see all the skylines going past though There was also another yellow R33 in Apollo Bay which we saw while at lunch. Looked very nice, although weren't part of our group.
  15. Wow! Is that the average sort of fuel consumption for turbo skylines? And yours is not a gt-r either. Thats less than 6km/L! Sure, my car is only 3 years old, but I get about 10km/L no matter how I drive But seriously, is this what other people get on average too?
  16. Although it's not exactly what you want, this may be of help: Quick Reference: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=66556 RB25 Turbo Upgrade & Dyno: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=55845 This one in particular may be useful as for what to do first: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=45218 And of course lots more random stuff in the forced induction section. HTH
  17. Aah they got us. It's still before 12pm over there lol
  18. Wow! That sounds pretty serious. Wonder if they'd be able to prosecute you if you were no longer in the country (or were never there). One reason never to question the mods when they delete something you said which was inappropriate /me crosses fingers it never happens here... too much good info to be lost.
  19. Aah thanks. I must've missed that link
  20. Just a suggestion, but it looks a bit strange when navigating around certain areas of the forums due to the way the forum categories are named. For example when viewing the Victorian forum, the "navigation tree" looks like this: Skylines Australia > Skylines Australia > Victoria Perhaps the second one should be called "States" or something similar to show that it is state/territory specific discussion. Hahaha.... sorry I know I'm being picky.
  21. Is it just me, but are there no pictures in this thread except for people's avatars and sigs??
  22. The new zealand site? Yeah, it hasn't worked for the last few days. In fact the dot com address comes up blank as well. Hmm... perhaps some sort of hijacking by some other car company?
  23. Lol. true. Or maybe a stiffer rear bar. I put my bar on the stiffest setting this weekend and damn! I almost lost it in the first corner. I guess I shouldn't have pushed so much after just changed it... biggest drift I've done in my subie so far (it's pretty hard to do unless you give it the Scandinavian flick - or Swedish flick or whatever it's called).
  24. But at least the engine is still intact. If he'd oversteered into the wall, it'd be much more costly to fix...
