Thanks! I'll start looking into this & see how I go. I saw a thread about a boost controller for $22 from jaycar or something... I didn't read into it, but I'm guessing that won't do the job here?
-
Hmm, that doesn't sound very good at all. Yes, it probably does go past 7, but like you said I've got no idea how far because the gauge doesn't go that far. The werid thing is that I don't have to turn the engine off and back on for it to start working at full boost again, all I have to do it jump off the loud pedal, wait for boost to drop below zero and then jump back on and it's okay again and I get the kick in the pants I'm after. So could it be something simpler than this? I sure hope so. What's the best way to diagnose what the actual problem is? * Wire up another boost gauge and see what's happening? * Find a stock GTR bov and put that back in? * Put the boost restrictor back if it has been removed? (how to tell if it has been removed?) * get a knock sensor/readout * upgrade injectors? (shouldn't be necessary as it's pretty much stock car right?) I'm not very mechanically minded, but willing to learn. Thanks for all your help so far.

aah, ok, so it's read in bar, that's fine, and yes it's the stock pod gauges (torque, oil temp, boost) but still it definitely feels slow, regardless of what the gauge says. It's just weird. Sometimes you launch off in first and it goes rather slow, then you shift into second and it pulls harder than it did in first. It also has nothing to do with how many revs I'm running at the time, it's a constant boost all the way from about 3500 all the way up to 7500 (i don't normally redline it), about a quarter of the time it only boosts up to 0.5 bar, the rest of the time it boosts at the normal 0.7 bar

Hi all, Hoping someone can help. I bought a 33 GTR a few weeks ago and it's been great, but I occasionally have this "issue" where the car doesn't seem to pull as hard when on boost. It's hard to reproduce on demand, but sometimes I have my foot to the floor, but the boost gauge only ready about 4, whereas normally it reads 7. I can usually fix it by letting go of the accelerator, letting the boost drop below 0psi, and then accelerate hard again and it'll go all the way up to 7psi. It happens in every gear (usually first or second, as by then I'm already doing over 100, so no need to go any faster). Stock, except for the following performance mods: HKS Priest 3" cat back exhaust K&N high flow air filter New turbos (around 4000-5000km old according to the previous owner) I think it may also have an after market blow off valve, as it is pretty loud and has the slightest bit of a flutter to it. I just had it serviced by RE customs, and they just changed the oils and filter, apparently nothing else needed to be done. Any ideas what I need to check to get this fixed?

Rev Matching When Down Shifting
dilmah replied to ashneel's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lol, and how does that work for ya? it would still lurch forward if you put it from D3 into D2 or whatever right? :laughing-smiley-014: TBH, i've never tried it in an auto. -
Rev Matching When Down Shifting
dilmah replied to ashneel's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
heel toeing is good fun, makes your driving smoother (good for the car and your passengers) and helps you take corners faster. I use it everyday at least a couple of times, but I don't use the gears to slow down the car when coming to a set of lights for example. Gears are for going, not slowing down the car. I only use heel toeing when approaching a corner i intend to power through Just press the brake pedal as you normally do (with your toes), clutch in, then twist your heel around and give the accelerator a blip, clutch out. Over time you'll get used to the sound of your engine and know instinctively when to release the clutch to make a smooth gear change without even looking at the rev meter. The twisting of the foot feels awkward at first, but it's great fun once you've got it. I wouldn't recommend trying this on a busy street though, you'll probably brake too hard the first few times, etc. good luck with it -
hmm.... we'll see about that. i'll probably drive your car into a tree sideways unless you get some proper rubber Then again, i still may cos you only have rwd haahahhahahahaahahhahahah..
-
i just hope we have as good a run as we did last time... every car we came up to pulled over and let us past.. couldn't have asked for a better result!!
-
Thanks daniel. Hope we didn't confuse too many people earlier hahhaa..

I checked it out tonight, and it's a pretty good location. There's 4 hand wash bays with the high pressure hoses and also 2 touch free automatic bays (for those of us who are too lazy). There is also heaps of parking around the car wash because there's a motel, pub and some other stuff that all share a big car park. I'm sure even if we have 20 cars there it shouldn't be a problem getting parking I'd be up for this as I'm sure the car will need a wash by then. Perhaps around 9pm on Saturday September the 8th? Well, there's already a pre-meet in cambellfield. I guess if there's enough interest we could have a pre-meet to go to the pre-meet, but that'd probably get confusing I'll be going along this route (no city link cos I'm cheap) and up the Hume to the existing pre-meet, so who knows, we'll probably see a few 'lines along the way.
-
That sounds pretty good, not too far for me. I drive past there pretty often, but never really paid much attention to the carwash there. I'll check it out on the way home tonight & let yall know, such as number of wash bays, size of parking area, etc. It shouldn't matter too much that it's the opposite direction of the cruise, as it's the night before anyway.

I know I'll be there if it is!!

man, this is going to be awesome cant wait!

OMG! I thought there was some sorta limit to the length of youtube videos... you learn something new everyday. So you're the one that's been slowing me down!!!! I have 1.5GB left to finish it off.. but I've uploaded over 23GB to everyone else. Awesome

Hey, can you PM me the details of where this will be held, and how long we will be required for? I may be able to squeeze this into my day if it's not too far away

Respraying My R33 Gtr, What Colour Should I Go?
dilmah replied to drifter 33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
midnight purple ftw. out of interest, will you be doing a full engine out respray? i'm guessing not.. probably cost much more. -
Whoa. that's pretty good. Where abouts is the needle at when the light first comes on? Above or below the empty mark? My fuel gauge was just a tad below the E and I thought i'd better fill up just in case.. but i'm pretty sure i put in less than 60 litres to fill it up again.
-
well, i'm pretty sure the fuel tank is 65 litres, however some sites say 72 litres. not sure which is correct, but so far i've got about 320km out of my first tank.. but i don't know if my car has a fuel warning light when it gets low or if it works, so there was still quite a bit of fuel left when i filled it up. From what the previous owner said, it's typical to get about 350km max driving in the city, 450 on highway. you may get more if you're travelling at a constant 100km/h from like NSW to VIC or something. If you start putting aftermarket computers on and modifing stuff, this will probably make fuel economy worse. And of course if you really fang it... good luck
-
lol. well, once you fix it all up in the original post i should be able to make this. it's only about 10km out of my way anyway

Just keep it well maintained, change the fluids, make sure there's no leaks, squeaks and everything works inside and out. 80. Would you upgrade the hub assembly of your car? (eg 4 stud to 5 stud) No. Why? What's wrong with 5 stud? 81. Would you upgrade the air-con system in your car? (eg manual to climate control) Already have climate control. It's pretty good. Yes I have, but I'm sure Takumi will have beaten me in his AE86 for sure Give me a few months though, I'm working on it... 88. Would you buy a scale model of your car, and how much would you be willing to spend up to on it? Already got a few, although they look a bit different. 89. What would you consider the locally produced equivalent of your car? Locally produced? So no Jap or Euro cars? Damn. I don't like holdens or fords. sorry. no idea. maybe the XR6T 95. You are offered to pick straws, one straw will get you free mods of your choice and track time to test them, the other will see your car returned to factory standard. Would you pick straws? No. I like my car as it is. 96. You are to attend a track day, however your car gets damaged, and have the following choices: - run the same model as your car, but with a fully tuned RB20E engine. The car has done 150,000kms, and the engine has done 50,000kms. - run the same model as your car, but with a RB20DET auto. The car has done 500,000kms, and the turbo has done 60,000kms. - run your damaged car What would you do? Sit in the car and cry :'( 97. If you were to grade yourself as an expert on Skylines, what would you be out of 100? 20%. I don't know much yet. 98. What is the purpose your car serves in your life? Get me to work, go out with friends, driving for fun, cruising, pick up girls (hopefully) 99. One word that describes Skyline owners in the country and the rest of the world? legends! 100. Other than "that was long and tiring" do you have any comments? Time for some sleep i think.. -
possibly from the alarm? Does it ever come on? Maybe it's a shift light?
-
Make a poll!! I vote for week before as well, only because it's sooner
