  1. Hypothetically, someone could have a degree at age 19, in their 20th year of life. Granted you're born very late in the year and only obtain a basic 3 year degree. I'll wage into this debate. It's hard to comment of what others do or don't have. I happen to own a CE lancer, R32 GTS-T and a 2005 350Z. Yes, I concede do live with my parents at a generous rate and do study full-time at university. But at the same time, it angers me when people make comments about my money/spending patterns. I receive comments from people around my age (20) about how much I must owe or spend. I work 24 hours a week during university semesters for an aggregate total of about $680 a week gross. I do contribute to my parents household costs too. But I live like a misor. I'm not tight with money and I won't be stingie, but I don't go out and blow it all. I've spent about $1500 on clubbing in the nearly 3 years I have been an adult and it shits me off when people who spend $150 a week without fail on getting drunk decide to critique MY spending. Because I have a phyiscal manfiestation of what I earn, instead of a lot of hazy nights. I think it is possible to own nice things, but I think some of us try to run before we can walk, financially.
  2. you'll struggle to get a decent, manual V35 350gt coupe for 18 grand. You're always going to have divided opinions. The R34 is more strictly a performance car, whereas the V35 is more of a luxury car with a bit of punch. Personally, I'd go for a tidy R34 GT-T. But both cars have merits. Probably shouldn't listen to me thought, since I own an R32 and a 350Z. I have the best of both worlds anyway.

  4. It's true. By the time you've installed it, diagnosed a problem and that you're not at fault, your "warranty" can often have expired. Wouldn't be suprised if they tried to place the blame on you (if you did a backyard conversion) for not being qualified.
  5. Nah. I saw that. Used to have the same thing when I was in school though. Aussie bogan Commodore supporters and Import supporters. For every "ricebox" comment, I'd troll them with some comment about HSV and then they'd bitch. I think it make them realise it was a pot calling the kettle black situation very quickly.

  7. also, to my knowledge, when bringing a car in as a personal import, you cannot sell it for a certain time period after bringing it into the country. I think this might be 12 months.

  9. I'm 20 and male. There is a stigma with P-platers and Skylines (i'd like to blame fast and furious). Unfortunately for myself, by a matter of 6 weeks, had to comply with the new P-plate laws that were introduced in Qld on July 1st 2007 (I got my license in the August) I'd always wanted a skyline, from as early as I could remember. I decided not to get one once I could only get a non-turbo. Since there was not a huge market for N/A skylines previously, all available ones were snapped up straight away and then put back up for sale at a ridiculously inflated price. So in the end I just waited until I received an open license and bought an R32 GTS-T and now a 350Z aswell. Life is sweet.

  12. My R32 came through as a sedan as well. It's clearly a coupe and everything else checked out, so I figured whoever logged the data is a moron and left it at that.
  13. Could be any number of reasons, but I doubt you'll get a straight answer. As said above; dealerships aren't always the best places to buy. They tend to buy a car for the lowest possible amount and sell it for as much as humanly possible. Generally, most people whom have looked ater their skyline will opt for private sale. A clean and well maintained skyline will always fetch more money if the buyer knows what the goods are.

  15. I hate it when bogan trash approach you and the follow conversation ensues: "is it a GTR?" "No" "Well it's shit then." "well what do you drive?" "A commodore" "is it a supercharged V8?" "No but.." "f**k off then" I don't get the stigma, that unless you drive a fully hektik 600HP+ GTR, your skyline is apparently shit. But the bogan who tells you this is trying to defend their clapped out VT commodore that has an ecotec in it. Most turbo skylines will beat most cars in the road.

It's the same story that has minor changes to it 1. They can't contact you other than via e-mail 2. They want to buy the car for someone else without even seeing it 3. They work some bullshit job where they can't call you/use the internet much 4. They want to pay via paypal 5. They want some random "agent" to pick it up and they do all of the above with barely legible english. This shit won't ever go away. As said above, if you're ignorant enough to let someone buy a car through paypal without even seeing it, then you're a moron.

  19. I'm guessing he would be a p-plater. Yes it would be cheaper, probably. It doesn't matter about the "replacement" car. The insurance company will just give a value and payout according to that. They don't care what you replace it with once they give you the money. I'd be double checking to see you can rego and insure a turbo car that's had the N/A engine swap, as a P-plater. Should be able to, but it's worth setting up before you spend all the money. As I originally said; unless you can swap the engine yourself, it's not a financially smart option to essentially make the car worse than it already is. Buy a factory N/A or wait until you're on your open license and buy a factory turbocharged car.
  20. Wait. You're swapping an RB20det OUT of an N/A car? or swapping the DET with a DE engine? Either way, it's gernerally over capitalising. If it's a non-turbo car, service it and sell it on to a P-plater. They pay top dollar for the privilege. Use the money to buy a turbocharged car. Win win.

Provided the car has been previously registered (legally, of course), then it has been complied and should be treated the same as any other car in regards to obtaining the correct transfer information/safety certificates ect. How many second hand Australian delivered cars have you seen that don't come with factory log books? The import papers and japanese logbooks are much the same. Not imperative, but it's always a bonus when the seller has them as it means they're pretty meticulous. Not to worry. Give the car a good visual and mechanical inspection and when you own it look after it well. They're an aging high-performance sports car, so they should be treated accordingly. Edit: Also, as suggested above; The switch, being a flick switch is most probably a high and low boost setting. It doesn't make the turbo "kick in", it adjusts the pressure that is allowed to build up before the wastegate is opened. More pressure means the air is more dense/compact, which means you can add more fuel at the same time for a bigger combustion and therefore more power. If you can, look behind where the switch is attatched to and see if there's any 8mm rubber tubing or wiring and see where it leads. Chances are it will be to a vaccuum line near the turbo/wastegate.
  22. They're not a young car and I have a family friend whom is high up in a prominent Nissan dealer who has lead me to believe this. However, it is heresay and conjecture. Who is to say they were all carefully looked after? You see Bugatti Veyrons written off from time to time, shit happens. Edit: when I say substantial, it can't be taken out of proportion. I believe there would be 75 or more still on the roads. Which is plausable. It might only be a small amount of cars, but when you only start off with 100, substantial can be only a handfull.
