  1. ok i have been having a look at the info i have. I can not find a complete wiring diagram so that makes it hard. I am worried at how you had "group of torn wires under the car", do you know how this happend (stupid question i know) Looking at the wiring looms i can not find a secondary unit that controlls the instruments. All i can think of is there are several join connectors in a loom, maybe one of these has come undone. Sorry its not much help but ill keep having a look. I do have a pic of the locations were the loom sit on the body if that helps. Ross
  2. Alex, Is there any chance you could send me a copy of the supp. via email. So far the only thing the service manual indicates is that it could be the meter controll unit which is a part of the combo meter, so thats not it. I am going to have a look in FAST tonight for connectors in the loom that could have disconnected but we will see what happens. Ross
  3. Well that is a fun one. Im guessing that the work shop are looking for a diagram that shows all the wiring and its location on the body. Ok give me a day to have a look would be better if i could access the car but unless your are willing to pay for my flights (yay freee holiday ) its a bit hard. Those torn wires would be the gear box speed sensor etc. Ill get back to you asap Ross
  4. I have the R34 manual as well. It should be all contained with in that but usually all the info is not on the same page so you have to hunt around. If you can tell me exactly what it not doing ill see if i can help you out witht he page numbers. Cheers Ross
  5. Your only saying that cause you are crap. Id go the Toyo in this instance from what i have seen and read. Ross
  6. Well here we are, got the last of the loom out and weighed - 13kg of wire (scale is about 500g out so its closer to 13.5). Keep in mind this does not include the looms from either door or the ecu to engine loom which should be another 6kg or so. Once i have got rid of everything not needed ill weight them again and see the difference. If everthing is working ok ill start the new custom loom made from the teflon wire and we will see what the difference is again, hopefully it will be worth the effort. Here is what the mess looked like and ill take a photo once it is cleaned up. Cheers Ross
  7. I saw that the other day, ill take a photo of the r32 one this weekend. At the moment the only looms that i wont be doing is the ecu (will get done when i go after market) and the doors untill i figure what i am doing with them (manual winders or fixed). Speaking of which does anyone know if you can get a manual window winder kit for any of the imports?? I know i have seen a few car in japan with manual winder but they might be an in house only kit. Cheers Ross
  8. Ok to bring everyone up to date and revive a now aging thread. I have been on holidays for a while and just have got back (including a name change). Yesterday i removed the last of the wiring and will be now able to work out the cost of the new loom very soon. As for my car the loom/s will be completely different due to a few things i am doing but i will post pic etc oncw it is done. Dis you end up getting your done Dane?? Cheers Ross
  9. I have not done it but i have seen a set up where (and this was for box and diff) they used the drain plug to go to the cooler then the filler plug as the returne. There was two coolers next to the fuel tank with electric pumps, looked good.
  10. i would say with a press but why are you installing bushings?
  11. Hello Admin people, Can you please change my user name to: 'Boss-zilla' Cheers
  12. I know i have seen these on cars in Japan but dont know if you can get a kit. No one knows?? Ross
  13. Could be the light in the boot, have heard of a few people finding a fault with it. I think with the alarm it sounds when the battery is going flat and if you remove power it will sound at full volume but i could be wrong.
  14. Hello all, Just wondering if anyone knows if you can get manual window winder for a r32?? Im currently building a track regoed R32 on a budget and dont want to go to fixed/lexan windows but would like to remove the electric gear as it is heavy. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers Ross
  15. Cheers mate, makes it easyer to know what people like yourself would like while im in the design stage and i know what you mean about no time. Ross
  16. From my experiance always go with the sprung centre on a road car alot better than the solid to drive. A mate had a triple plate solid centre one and when he had to take off he basicly reved it then droped the clutch and spun the wheels. Made it very had to park
  17. Well I finaly had a chance to start this on the weekend. Will hopefully have a ruff cost on the complete loom with in a month if all things go to plan. How has yours gone Dane?? Anything you didnt like or would change with it?? Any suggestions you make can only help me with the design of mine one. Cheers Ross
  18. Im an Instrumentation Draftsman going on Designer for oil and gas. a little different to what you want but everything is avail. over here as most young people go to the mines for work which give a shortage of people in Perth = more apprenticeships in the city and pays are usually higher than the rest of aust.
  19. I moved to WA to get into my chosen feild after about 2-3 years trying in Vic. Its a lot easyer to get a job over here than in Vic and for the few years of pain flying back and forth its well worth it.
  20. Well Ill sell you a copy of my plans, not that it will do you much good as they are for a gts-t. As for the planning i am moving a few thing around to make space/and try for better weight dis.
  21. Forgot to add that I will be doing a complete set of CAD drawings to go with it so fault finding will be easy as too.
  22. Just to keep this alive and up to date i will start removing the looms this weekend and stripping them down. I have done a bit of a look around over the last few weeks and have just decided on all the switchs, plugs etc that ill be using so it wont be much longer before i have a final product (if all goes to plan). Cheers Ross
  23. congrats, very well done just proves how good the old gtr really is. Ross
