the tapping noise has decreased substantially, how do i post up pics of the compression test if it was just one analog ones where you remove the spark plug?

Hi, yes it is the same engine. I took the car to my mechanic and it was just a case of the timing belt being put on one tooth out and a broken waterpump but it comes with a replacement water pump. I've just had bad luck with skylines since the time i bought it so i'm just selling the car in parts now. Just to clarify. the engine is in good working order now... if anyone needs any other parts off the r33 body pm me.. thanks

i'm pretty sure that the problem was the water pump because it was unbalanced because i had to cut it for the intercooler piping

i tried to start the car today to drive it to the mechanics and while i was driving, the water pump came off and shat itself.. radiator fluid everywhere.. mite just consider replaceing the engine.

i mean liek a really loud tapping sound at idle.. and this gets louder the more u rev... it sounds like the cam is hitting the lifters

hi, i'm new to this forum. recently i replaced the blown engine out of my r33 gtst skyline with another one that i bought off ebay. everything went in and it starts and everything. however, there it has a few problems. 1) the revs fluctuate betweeekn 500 and 1300 rpm. 2) when driving and coming to a complete stop when you have the clutch in it just wants to stall out. 3)there is this fkn loud tapping sound comming from the bottom of the inlet side of the head. ( a few people have told me that it could be the lifters) personally i think the person who put the timing belt on originally it could be a tooth out but would it cause this problem? and the car goes really shit not smooth at all!!!!!!! 4) when coming on boost, the car just backs off by itself liek it sputters and missfires. ive nearly had enuf of this car lol.. plz help. something just came to mind.. i dont currently have the fan thats located infront of the airconditioner conderser hooked up because it was smashed in the crash.. would that cause the engine to not start up?

nah nothing else is different.. i'll give it another check over tonight when i get round to it and post results.

i havent tried a different ecu, however all the sensors and ecu and loom were all workin on the other engine. the only thing that i can think ov would b that i have a series 2 engine with s1 components on it. also i wouldnt know where to start with the multimeter ( never used one before)

oh and also is the loom to a s1 and a s2 the same?

there is good metal to metal contact and also the battery terminal is screwed on tight.. what i'm worried about is that it could be a series 2 engine and i've hooked up s1 ecu and s1 ingnitor module to the s1 coilpacks. But if it was a s2 engine would it be priming the fuel pump if it has the wrong ecu in it?

ok i bought a new battery and installed it... i checked thoroughly to see if everything was plugged in and found that the earth cable wasnt mounted onto the engine.. I put it to accessories, the fuel pump primed this time. i go to start it and the started motor makes a noise once and then all the dash lights go off and have to disconnect the battery n put it back on to attempt again and still the same thing happens.. any ideas.. also checked all fuses.. all ok

nah, dont have a multimeter. i'll buy a new battery first thing and giv it another shot

yes the s1 motor had an ignition module and i've fitted it to the new motor

hi, i purchased a rb25 ( turbo) long block for my car about 6 months ago unsure of whether it was a s1 or s2 engine.. i only recently finished installing it into my car.. today i went to start it and it wouldnt start.. now my original engien in the car was a s1 so i plugged everything off my s1 engine onto this new engine.. i have some doubts that it could be a s2 engine because the coil pack cover was slightly different at the back to the one that was on my s1 engine. now if the engine was a s2 engien would assecories come on if i put the key in? i'm going to change the battery tomorrow to see if that is the problem but i would like your thoughts on the matter.. thanks
