Educated Guess At The Final Tune Results
XKLABA replied to Nismo 3.2ish's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Best that night was 11.1@132mph with a 2.1 60" Car weighed in at 1682kgs without me and I'm 108kgs Car has gone 10.8 @132mph with a 1.7 60" When you feel the front moving sideways as well you can be fairly sure the 4WD does work, eventually lol, it still needs more bleeding, it is just been a PITA this time for some reason -

You end up spending more time fighting the car to keep it straight then putting down good lap times I went to the drags last week for shits and giggles and it had no tractions 1st 2nd and most of 3rd on 24psi which is about 440kws on a prepped track, now imagine that every time you come out of a corner and try to put the power down one a surface that isn't prepped for extra traction Can be done don't get me wrong it's just not a fun experience if you are looking for a good lap time, 4WD skids then it is awesome fun, at 380kw I was drifting the fishhook in 4WD when it finally started to work ( not bleed completely so 4WD takes its sweet arse time to activate) at wakefield while peddling it -

It really depends on the car and how it is setup, suspension tyres aero etc, it also depends on what kind of HP it makes, stock car on road tyre would be a hand full at around a genuine 350kw, my 34 has R tune suspension, sway bars and biggish brake upgrade and 295/30/18 Hankook Z221s in soft compound and I find about 380kws is controllable and could probably go to 400kw with some more practice on any given track If you have Steve Ka's WTAC car then by all means go 450kw or more -

Try punting a 450kw street GTR around a track and let me know how that works out for you, I have that much power and have tried it, not a fun experience -

When was the last time your selected 4th gear ( 5th for pete ) and run it repeatedly from 2500-3000 through to redline on the street with only a pissy little fan blow on it and no other air flow -

This is a pic of the inside of the manifold, tell me what's missing or are you saying this is a fresh manifold ? Or did you not think Jez would clean the manifold to see the cracks better -

I'm looking at a time factor and this car hasn't been running as a 3.2 all that long and cracks like that don't happen over night, maybe not at turbo change, that gets benefit of doubt but from stroker kit and retune for sure it was cracked, to what degree is the question -

If you can put a car on a dyno with that manifold and run it up while car is stationary and not pick the exhaust leak you shouldn't be working on cars, when I looked at the car I had a quick look in the engine bay with it idling listing at the cams from the drivers side and I'm disappointed I didn't pick it up CRD did the original turbo change and didn't check the manifold then a full engine build porting head and still didn't check the manifold and even us forum users know these manifolds crack and they do this day in day out and still didn't check it -

I'm a little suprised also and disappointed in myself about it, but then I was not listening for it and at idle it wasn't noticeable But the then CRD didn't pick it and either did Jez straight away Having a manifold that doesn't leak like a seeve will help heaps everywhere in the rev range -

That test doesn't say FACTORY twins v single, it's says twins v single mythbusted and that's my point -

The joy of the GTXs or any billet wheel is you can have a smaller wheel for the same flow which increases response while giving same power but that isn't what I'm saying, I'm saying this test isn't mythbusted proof that singles are better then twins -

XKLABA replied to Nismo 3.2ish's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
GTXs or at least same generation turbos with same flow rates would be a good start, but a genuine fair test of twins v singles would see both setups done the same way with the same level of breathing support, so custom high mount manifolds, custom dump pipes and external gates custom pipe work from filters to turbos then to cooler so the test is same same That is a test I would like to see, anything with factory mount turbos is going to have limitations which a high mount single won't have to deal with so any test of twins v single needs to be same same or it proves nothing for which ever is truely better, twins or singles You can't have a fair test of which is better when one side has limitations and the other doesn't -

But That's my point, how can that be called a test of twins v single, it should be called what it is, him upgrading from factory mount old tech turbos to custom mount latest tech turbo which is obviously an upgrade I will say it again cause obviously there are reading issues here, I'm not saying twins are better or singles are better, I'm saying this is not a fair and comparable test of twins v singles -

ok so let me see if I've got this right, he has put; 90s tech -5s with the smaller -7 .42 comp housings with factory pipe work designed to fit the engine bay nice and neat up against the latest tech GTX3582R with custom pipe work designed to make the turbo work to it's peak efficiency and this is what is considered a fair test of twins v single, really!!! And lets not forget the tuner, a massively biased single turbo supporter romoured for fudging dyno readings Is that about right, don't get me wrong, I am not saying one is better then the other, I'm saying this test is anything but a fair test of twins v singles -

28psi, that's the limit of -10s on a 3.0, 22-25psi is comfortable for them and they make positive pressure from 2200rpm and pull hard from just over 3k The RPMs where not set for this car so they are way off, the run is 2500-8000rpm -
