  1. I spent 6 years with a TT Zed and from aus300zx.com very rarely heard of an engine failure. In fact I've heard of more RB26DETT failures in the 1 month I've owned the GTR. That aside, both are great cars. Still reckon my Zed was quicker but the GTR is a stocker and she'll be getting modified soon The GTR is much more sedate and hasn't scared me in the wet like the Zed though! Lol also nothing like flooring it in 4th on the freeway in the wet at 100km/h and getting rear wheel spin! If you look after a Zed, get a decent radiator, change oil every 5000kms with a decent synthetic and clean the electrical connections every now and then it will be fine. Cheers, Matt
  2. Sorry didn't mean to be rude, but cool thanks for that. Was just wondering the mechanics of it all, this is the same for all GTRs? Also, does that mean you can fill the transfer case from the stick?
  3. I haven't had a good enough look at my GTR but why does the stick go into the transfer case and not the gearbox? Doesn't the transfer case literally transfer drive to the front wheels? From what I can see the transfer case hangs off the driver's side of the gearbox and the stick is perfectly above the gearbox itself like any other rwd car. Just wondering the reasoning? Cheers, Matt
  4. Personally, no. Might have been different in the early days of the R32 but Nissan hasn't sold a Skyline here for years. There are plenty of places with experience working on skylines. True it's only a service but I'd find a workshop/mechanic that has a good reputation and go there. PS. The last time I left my car at a certain Nissan dealer (not Lakeside) it was stolen from inside the workshop.
  5. Thanks, yeah just read about it in another thread. Might try to get the reading off number 1 rather than the wire and see what happens. Cheers.
  6. Surely the cops have more constructive things to do than trawl the internet looking for organised cruises?
  7. Hi all, Only had my GTR a couple of weeks and just checked the timing and it was way out. Supposed to be 20 BTDC at 950rpm apparently but mine was approximately 35. I was wondering why it felt gutless down low compared to my old 300zx TT. Thing is the crank angle sensor was in the middle of it's adjustment with the piece of tape intact indicating it's never been moved. I connected my timing gun to the number 1 wire at the back of the engine, tried both ways around just to make sure I hadn't screwed up and dropped the timing to 20. Then I made sure the idle revs were still 950rpm with 20 BTDC timing. The crank angle sensor is now way to one side of it's adjustment. To me this can only mean the timing belt is one tooth out? Any other ideas? I'm going to replace the timing belt shortly anyway but just after some feedback. I feel pretty confident the timing is correct now as it has the same sensors, markings and method of timing adjustment as the 300zx. Cheers, Matt
  8. Saw a nice black R34 GTR with a fibreglass bonnet on the corner of glen osmond rd today
  9. Yeah 6 month expiry although I think Savvytel has 12 month now.
  10. Yeah true. Just not sure how easy it would be to convince them to track it that's all. For around $120 and a little bit of work you can have a gps system.
  11. I made a gps tracking system for my car and it's awesome, PM for further details. Problem with mobile tracking afaik is it isn't very accurate. Had an iphone previously and when you asked it to get your position via mobile towers it would only give you a circle in google maps where you are. Big circle, like talking 500m diameter. The gps coordinate can pinpoint it to which part of a building it's in.
  12. Cool thanks, tried looking up the business but no luck. Where abouts is it? Cheers.
  13. Hey all, Just doing a bit of work and noticed the inner right CV boot on the GTR is split and leaking oil everywhere. Haven't fixed one before, does anyone recommend a good CV place around the city? If not, how hard is it to do, do I need to pull the whole shaft from the gearbox to do the inner boot? Cheers, Matt
  14. Item: CellsTurbo CTB-3 Turbo Timer/Auto Start Age: Unknown Condition: Used Price: $20 To Fit: (What car) Any turbo Location: Adelaide Contact: PM Comments: Came with my car, was a working turbo timer and auto start but old mate in Japan didn't send the remotes along when he sold the car. So guess it would make a good turbo timer otherwise. It comes with the receiver but not the remotes, also includes the wiring loom and Japanese instruction manual.
  15. I'll be contacting you guys first if my GTR with GPS tracking ever gets nicked. Will be fun to rock up to the thieves house to get it back...
  16. My GTR was doing the exact same thing last week. Checked the codes and 12 came up for air flow meters. Opened them up and resoldered the 4 connections as per the tutorial on this site (easy to do) and she runs perfectly now. Cheers, Matt
  17. Item: 2 x 2.5" Straight Thru Mercury Mufflers Age: 2 years Condition: Used and a bit dirty but work perfectly Price: $50 ono pickup To Fit: (What car) Was on a 300zx TT but any car Location: Perth, south of the river Contact: PM or 0411287718 Comments: Need to go today or Tues, $50 pickup ono
  18. Sorry to hear mate, did either car have an alarm installed?
  19. Thanks for all the replies! Yeah wasn't a fan of the rims until I saw them in the flesh, didn't realise how dished they are. They have faded a bit unfortunately so I will probably look into getting them painted gold again. Any ideas or recommendations? They are Volk GT-U btw. Had a nasty misfire on the way to work and it was running like a dog so checked the codes and 12 came up for MAFs. I pulled both MAFs and cleaned everything with carby cleaner and now it's smooth as silk which is good. Did a compression test today also (it's a bitch to work on but still not as bad as my previous 300ZX TT!) and 140-150psi on all cylinders so I'm happy! Claimed kms is 65k so it's probably done a bit more than that as I expected. Oh yeah someone asked earlier, it was grade 4 at the auctions because it's had a couple of panels resprayed. The roof and bonnet as far as I can tell but the paint is in awesome condition. Spoiler is faded slightly. Cheers, Matt
  20. Hey all, Finally got my 94 R32 GTR on the road today, absolutely love it! She's in great condition, the thing is stock as at the moment except for rims really. Even has a stock exhaust and the boost restrictor installed. Will mod it eventually though! Anyway very keen to meet and cruise with you all, will probably come along for the dinner next week. Sorry about the late pics. Anyway haven't had a chance to take a photo of it clean now but these are on the docks in Japan. Cheers, Matt
  21. Hey all, After a set of R32 GTR standard mags with or without tyres in decent condition. Will pay for postage from interstate if required, I'm in Adelaide. Cheers, Matt
  22. Hi all, On my GTR the paint is peeling badly on the intake manifold, what is the best way to go about repainting it? I'd prefer not to remove it, so obviously it's going to be a cosmetic only fix until I really need to remove the manifold for something else. Anyway any ideas? Cheers, Matt
  23. Hey all, Haven't really introduced myself but will have my R32 GTR this week hopefully! Will definately come along to some meets/cruises when I get it. Anyway just wondering if there are any recommendations for an alarm and installer? Don't need remote start or paging etc, just a good alarm/immobiliser. Cheers, Matt
  24. Great cars if you look after them! With 300rwhp mine did a 13.1 @ 175km/h with heaps of wheelspin. Speed indicates it should be a much quicker time it's just hard to get the power down. I only sold mine for a change, always wanted a GTR so thought why not. Couple of cooling issues but it's just maintenance, ie hoses.
