  1. All depends... if you are paid weekly/fortnightly and have a mortgage with a 100% offset account and pay your card in FULL monthly you actually save money by using the CC But this is quite unlikely for a 21yo student lol
  2. Banking advisor hitting her KPI's is technically a reason
  3. That's because you dont wear Ric's pink jacket
  4. can just imagine Dezz waking up early and mistaking one of your loud jackets for his high vis and being laughed off site
  5. Applicable in the way I presented it, i.e solely a comparison of how the price is increasing exponentially. No one is suggesting that a 600sq block in brighton is an average house price
  6. 13 was from my example of my mum's house price as a multiple of 1x average wage
  7. And i don't really understand your point about 2x wages... there are plenty of people that are bound to be single for life... take Mohsen for example
  8. That doesnt change the comparison at all... include 2 wages and instead of ~5 then / ~13 now it just becomes 2.5 then / 6.5 now
  9. Lol not in a comparison between 1 x average wage vs house price there isn't.
  10. Anyway someone shared a wordfinder on facebook and the first word insaw was "wealth" so I'm pretty sure I'm set...
  11. I've done it but it involves working 2 jobs
  12. That's my plan riiiiiight there lol
  13. There is no duel income...
  14. Yeah basically. Just to illustrate how the same house has become unaffordable on average wage. Obviously good capital gains in Brighton but it was a premium suburb back then too
  15. Fair call. I used average full time as the comparison
  16. No. It was an expensive house then too. My point is the comparison (then to now)
  17. at unsustainable interest rates....
  18. Average wage is 75k dont get confused with median fwiw I used median in the first example as I feel it represents the poorer people more accurately but then used average in the second as i CBF looking for the 1975 median fig when average shows up on the first result
  19. 400k is still ~7.5 times the median wage. Shit is simply a LOT more expensive now. The house I'm sitting in right now (mums) was bought for ~$40k in 1975 at ~5 times the average wage and is now worth $1m which is ~13.5 times the average wage.
  20. It also doesn't bode well to make comments regarding housing affordability that ostracise the poor when your own...sorry... "your wife's" mortgage is paid by the tax payer as "accommodation expenses" Even more so when you had freshly called mothers claiming a far smaller amount "double dippers" whose activity (despite being specifically allowed) is "tantamount to fraud"
  21. I'm not saying I have the solution, and neither do the ALP, but saying people should just earn more money as if that is something that is accessable to anyone and everyone was just stupid... especially when it came from someone that already had the public well offside and is perceived as being out of touch.
  22. So what happens when these people that cant afford a house retire? They can't save enough to rent for the rest of their life on the pension.... You can't claim there is not a serious issue with housing affordability... it now costs a solid 10 times the median wage to get an average house... when our parents bought houses it was closer to 3
