Actually I think they are brilliant.
I have played a few of their records in clubs/raves over the years.
They are one of the few artists with the ability to successfully transcend genre's with much of their music being accessible to almost any crowd.
I think that homework was one of the most influential albums of it's time, bringing many scene's together and also being probably the first album to hit mainstream charts with a predominantly 303 driven track. (excluding wink's higher state of consciousness which predates Da Funk but did not do anywhere near as well) It also had fantastic production values for when it was produced.
I think their subsequent albums have carried on this tradition successfully (which was a HUGE torch to carry) and they (unlike most EDM stalwarts) deserve 100% of the praise they receive
I also really dug what they did with the Tron soundtrack.
