Ok so about 6 months ago I noticed my car would severly surge as if the engine would die then right itself then die again, more so when I would try to accelerate out of it. It did this once and then it went away. Thought it might have been a bit of bad fuel. About a week later I was driving on a back road to my mates place( I live in a rural area and the roads are really bad and bumpy) and it started doing it again, this time it stayed and it was almost impossible to drive it. Ended up leaving it overnight at his place and drove it back still playing up. It had also developed a terrible miss at idle. I took out the idirium plugs and replaced the coils with a few secondhand ones as I didnt have $500+ to spend on splitfires if it wasn't going to fix it. After installing them I took it for a drive up and down my street only( car was unregistered at this time) for a few full throttle runs and it seemed fine no more miss at idle, no more surging seemed all good. I decided that seeing as it was out of rego and I didnt have the money to get it regoed I took it off the road and did a full service+ clutch, alloy rad, timing belt kit. Drove it for a day after regoing and the car seemed perfect, untill the surging happened again. Its weird, only at light throttle and very intermittent. So I sent the car to a workshop and they said that It had dirty fuel in the rail and that it sitting for 6 months with the same fuel in could be the problem. Did an oncar flush got car back and it seemed fine untill back again I thought it might go away but I decided to drive it a bit more to induce it. It didnt happen again, I have been driving for about 4 days and tonight it started it again. I drove from my house to Campbelltown in NSW about 50kms perfectly no a problem apart from a slight miss at idle(thought it might be 02 sensor). The car then sat at the mall for about 3.5 hours and when I drove home it started again. The drive home is pretty flat and at times I had it in the brakdown lane doing 60ks and it would lurch forward then find power then lurch again. Im going to get the fuel pressure tested tomorrow and see what I can find. Hoping it the fuel pump. Any ideas on where to go from here? Really sorry for the NOVEL just wanted to get it all down. This forum has helped me countless times, hoping maybe one more.

That sounds about right, I just finished doing it to mine and let me tell you there is a fair bit of work involved. Do you know anyone that is car savvy that could help you? Its not that difficult (as long as you know what you are doing) its just time consuming. Oh and parts for these things aren't cheap. Good luck!

Southern Highlands NSW. As the car has been sitting around for the last 5 months and I have been working on it alot to get it ready for the blue slip the battery has been going flat. I have had to jumpstart it a fair few times in the last few weeks, could this be the cause of the problem? I know taking the car to the dealership sounds like the best soultion yet Im a little worried in driving the car 20mins to nissan seeing as its unregistered.

Im having problems with the airbag light staying on. Would either the shorting the two wires in the diagnostic plug remove it or using the consult?

my mate wants to put an rb25det in a r32gts. Before I get into working on the mechanical part of it I thought id find out what I need to do for wiring. what I need to know is what wires do I need to look for? If I was to get the ecu pinouts then what do I need to change over? Im guessing power for the fuel pump relay? power for the ignighter/coils? what else? there's a main harness for the engine that just plugs into the car harness on a gtst right? is there a way of just finding what things i need hooked up and tracking a diagram? any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheapest Price For Tomei R33 Gtst Fuel Pump?

I don't really see the point in bagging the guy out. I mean aren't we here to learn about our cars? Some constructive posts might be a little better don't you think. But also as said before If you really know that little about modifying cars (not being an a$$ just an observation). Then maybe you should either talk to a mechanic, read one of the FMIC installation tutorials on here or get a buddy that is tech savvy to give you a hand. Well thats my opinion

Wtb: R33 Gtst Exhaust Spacers
Stormchaser replied to Stormchaser's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
umm no some weird looking gaskets there! The are the spacers that go behind the nuts on an exhaust manifold. it goes spacer washer nut. Im missing a few as they fell off when the manifold snapped the studs off so I need some replacements. And Nissan are hopeless! -
As the title says what would be the best price I could get a Tomei direct replacement pump for an r33 gtst series 2 skyline? Thanks

Hey there. I was in the same situation as you are in now, I had bought a 96 series II r33 gtst and after it running perfectly fine for 6 months it decides to pack it in. Now I had this dilemma: Rego was due in like 40 days I had most of the money for Rego and insurance yet I could'nt drive it. All symptoms were leading to dead coilpacks. After looking around on here It seemed that it was going to cost more to put a set of splitfires on it than I was willing to spend(remember that I still was unsure as to what the real problem was). Anyhow to add to this dilemma I had two manifold studs snapped of flush with the head.(quoted $900 for removal and replacement of studs). So I looked at my options 1. put second hand coils on and sell car off asap. 2. take car off road and fix everything properly. 3. Just fix coils and rego car and hope that nothing went wrong in the mean time. So I decided to take ther car off the road, Im putting a new timing belt kit, water pump, thermostat, coolant, fuel pump, manifold gaskets/studs and nuts ect, o2 sensor. Sepnding close to a grand on the whole thing. This way I can make sure that nothing SHOULD go wrong(aside form a total engine meltdown) and I dont see that happening. So basically what Im saying is if you have some cash you could look into getting another cheap runabout, get the skyline to a decent standard and then your not pressured into rushing it or driving it while it needs work. Sorry for the long post Hope this helps. Jason
