  1. I own a very mild modded 32 gtr and an old vn as my daily driver. I have a house. Im 27 and have owned a heap of modded cars, road bikes, dirt bikes. I've always had 1 toy and sold one to buy another. Sell your 33 and buy the car you want otherwise you'll sink $$$ into the gts and yes will be fast in a straight line etc etc as pointed out, but at the end of it you'll be saying, i wonder if i bought a gtr back then & i could have bought a gtr with the $$$ spent. I'd consider a vn/p as a daily driver. I bought my vn of my mum years ago as a daily driver. Has 313000k's on it, hasnt missed a beat. She had it since 70,000. Thats not a once off claim either. Theres so many you can buy them for practicly nothing, just have to know what to look for i spose. A r32 gtr was always a dream, took me a long time though to find one in the original looks department and as tidy as it is. Utterly an amazing machine, that leaves me/passengers breathless/speechless. i could ramble all night how much i love it but the only thing i dont like are the stocker brakes, but you wont have to worry with the 33. At the end of the day your still buying a fairly oldish car that can be very $$$$ to repair (helps doing a lot of stuff yourself) but imho the grin and history that goes with that badge is priceless. 2. if you have a non recirculating bov then thats the cause.
  3. Hey guys, give you a rundown on whats happend and just wanted someone to confirm im on the right path...... Initially i lost reverse, a quick read on the forums suggested a $2 spring was the culprit. I purchased the spring and was going to attempt the repair myself but due to limited time i decided to pay a mechanic. A quick call to a local performance shop and all booked in. Told them where the access to the spring was on the LHS side of hte box but they didnt listen and took of a small plate off on hte rhs of the box (told me they had changed one be4??) above the tailshaft. mechanic showed me the piece with a spring exposed saying theres meant to be a captive ball bearing on the end but it looks like its been missing for a while due to the marks on the end of the spring. he decided it was better to leave hte spring out. the reverse lockout spring was then found and replaced Ive since undone the crossmember, lowered the box and put the spring back in but it doesnt seem to have helped much (maybe to a small degree but might just be me). basically you can grab the gear leaver and theres no resistance 3rd to 4th when stationary or rolling along, also comes out of gear easy. Box felt perfect be4. Im thinking when he took the wrong piece of the ball bearing was already dislodged, and removing its stopper has let it fall into the box. Mechanic reckons if its still in there would have fallen to the bottom onto the magnetic drain plug. So for those in the know am i correct in thinking the reverse lockout has nothing to do with this and that captive ball bearing acts as an 'indent' for 3rd to 4th. Can order the parts (new stoppert and ball bearing) in from my local nissan dealer just kind of wanted some1 to confirm for me. any advice much appretiated thanx mike
  4. Where u get quoted $95 from? Not that it matters too much anyhow, i went and paid $114 from northside nissan for mine. Mike at ABS (v good service) in osy park was going to match it up for me. Needed to take it off then go see him on a satuday. Was just more convienient for me to buy one that i knew would fit and replace it, less stuffing round. Yeh is just a basic 3/4" slave, nothing special about it. Coventries, repco etc etc only have the r31 skyline one available, different part # to the gtr one apparently
  5. Hey guys, Thanx for the diagram. Went and bought the spring from my local nissan dealer, a whole $2.20. Replaced hte slave cylinder as it was leaking, clutch feels smoother and a tad lighter. I think hte worn slave contributed to the 'stiffness' of getting into reverse, hence the spring (hope it is) being damaged. Got under the car and couldnt see hte access plate on hte passenger side of the box below the shifter.?? is it in an obvious position? looked behind hte pipes, didnt noticed anything. Think im just going to find a shop familiar with r154 box and get them to replace the spring for a small cost in labour. Have taken out a few boxes in my time but this one looks to big and heavy lol, specially without access to a hoist. thnx mike
  6. this thread just helped me out bigtime! Have the exact symptoms. Started to pull apart hte shifter last night. Discovered a leaking slave cylinder in the process which ill replace. thnx boys mike
  7. hey i know bout some 19's 4 sale. http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/priva...|1&trecs=24 I bought that car minus hte 19's (wanted the stockers). They'll still be sitting there in his garage, i know he wouldnt have advertised em. Give him a call (top bloke), maybe get em for a decent price. Rims were like new and nearly full amount of rubber left from memory mike
