N/a+t Power Results - N/a +t Turbo Conversions Only
WYTSKY replied to N-DAWG's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
good work mate! nice result, you cracked the 200s! give it 2 months and u know u'll want more -
Hey guys, had some time to think about the situation, went to Qland with a mate for 5 days... I admit I have been a bit unfair on the situation... I was too harsh on her and she has also said the same to me. Im probably not the best listener of women, so Jess saying I don't think its a good idea and I don't think you should get another one..... im just going to say I can't put that together, so theres part my fault too... she only said its a car vs her only because we rent and we may move to another location in another year, so our situation isn't 100% set in concrete where or how we live over the next few years and if for some reason i had to move back home, the p's couldn't/wouldn't want me to have another car... so the situation is at an end, i guess im just jumping the gun a little bit with our location and stuff, but just didn't want her looking like a complete b*tch to everyone when she does look out for me, i just don't notice it alot of times.... Finally, as im sure most blokes on here in long term relationships know, compromising comes from both parts, so when the time is right i'll get my daily! boys will be boys

How To Modify A Skyline Right To Avoid Defects!
WYTSKY replied to Spunky Munky's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Its not the best, but my thoughts are to hide stuff as well as possible... so far its been pretty good, from now, back to even when I was on my p's with a larger aftermarket turbo, I made a heatsheild so you couldnt see it, the cops just assumed it was the standard turbo and with some smooth talking I have gotten out of about 2 fines (power to weight when on p's) and 1 defect. interms of engine mods, there still are quite a few things you can get away with that you dont have to worry about unless the cop is cluey as hell..... Injectors afm fuel pump turbo timer? then you can normally do something about these: bov - relocate it to a hard to find place? pod + intercooler - make a good heatsheild engine management - if powerfc change the front cover so it looks like the standard ecu or put it in a hard to see location...gbox,under the dash, etc boost controller - its small enough to be hidden almost anywhere exhaust - install that apexi valve or varex muffler thing these you'll obveously struggle with, my only thought is a large heat shield. turbo ext gate manifold but I rekon with an atmo bov your just asking for attention... thats why i stick with my gtr one. -

Making A Professional Heatsheild/pod Cover/air Box At Cost!
WYTSKY replied to WYTSKY's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
very hot dude, like yeh if u placed the pespex on the exhaust manifold it would melt... but if you look it up on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poly(methyl_methacrylate) its melting point is 130-140 degs celcius and the heat gun was direct heat, whereas you'll find the heatsheilds normally just suffer from indirect heat like heatsoak from a hot motor... Adam -
hehehehe... and this is how mine ended up staying at 15-17psi

I changed the coolant not long ago in mine... I did all the things security has mentioned.... thought all the bubbles were out, took it for a drive and on the pfc it was telling me straight away that the temps were going up... went straight back home (only got down the street) i let it bleed for 15 mins which i thought was enough.... ended up taking like 30 mins with the heater going full.... so how long did u bleed urs for?

Thanks everyone, and I am so upset to say this.... Can you believe, I mean seriously...can u believe this..... I asked all you blokes who have been so helpful and nice to answer my question.... I had a random call from the real estate agent today to book in an inspection in 2 weeks... I thought ah cool, I'll just quickly ask them then and not be a pest.... I tell the gf.... BAM!... argument from the sh*test side of hell a poor man and his car ever have to witness! Turns out... SHEEE just didn't want me having 2 cars....even when I said we would be sharing it, as her car is a piece of crap (89 charade) which just made the next wave of fire hit me in the face like a fisherman's friend add..... she just told me all this stuff as she didn't think i'd get any further.... Ive spent like 2 days researching....... apparently if I even think about asking the agents when they are here, she's gone.... so its her or a second car.... sometimes I think what an easy choice it could be............... Thanks all again and very sorry to waste all your time, but women can be so conniving and I am truely upset I have to keep leaving my baby in dangerous areas! . . . . . to be continued?
-
Do u have an aftermarket exhaust? if so, it may be too big and actually cause a lack of back pressure resulting in the car being extra sluggish in low revs until a higher velocity of exhaust gas flows out, where it would be better for it...
-
Thanks for that, great to know.

Excellent, thanks everyone. Just the advice I needed

Hey guys, As you may or may not know, I moved out of home about 10 months ago. I have absolutely loved living away from parents - the freedoms are fantastic.... bills suck... but I already knew that. Anyway, I have always wanted a daily run around, my Skyline is my pride and joy and I hate driving it into the city or leaving it in car parks. As it is holidays for me (uni) I now have a chance to work and save up a couple grand. My question is, am I aloud to have more then one car or is there a rule when renting? the gf seems to think that I can't and that she doesn't want the place to look like a car dump, but I'm not convinced. She has 1 car, I have mine in my lock up garage (essential) so its out of the way, but surely I could have another in my driveway? I have checked our agreement, it says nothing of it, the closest things relating to it are: "The tenant agrees not to carry out any mechanical repairs or spray painting of any motor vehicles, boats or motor cycles in or around the property" - which I have done, but in my garage with the door closed and "Park or leave a vehicle on the common property so as to obstruct a driveway or entrance to a lot or in any place other than in a parking area specified for such purpose by the body corporate" - which I spoze if I ever had a complaint, I would just park it on the street. I would ask the real estate agent, but we just bugged them last week so we could install an aircon for this heat and 2 months ago we were also alloud to put in a dryer, so I don't want to be a pain and be kicked out. Thanks in advance, Adam

Im thinking based on a quick search of car sales... somewhere between 9-11 roughly i'd guess ... depends how desperate you are to sell...
-
Just a note, my understanding is that aslong as you AREN'T using it as a brake light and its not too distracting (ie flashing, moving, etc) then it it acceptable.... otherwise they can pull u over... Atleast that was wot I was told by the cop in VIC when i was pulled over for it, then he said it is ok.
-
its a little bigger then that Im waiting on a single part that is being custom made by a machinist to suit

Even though this whole process may be slow, atleast it shows SAU does care about it's members and will do what it can to help them, provided sufficient evidence is provided.

Happy birthday mate, hope you had a good 1! "D

2 years and going strong! BIGGGG upgrade commencing in only a few days/week... I'll show u Nathan, that all our blocks can take that PSI that being said... I don't think ive touched red-line for atleast a month or more... maybe the secret i don't know....honestly i don't need to go over 5,000 on the street... Can't wait for the new gear to be put in...
-
Oh and Enis.... clearly your mental capacity for adding simple numbers is poor.... This bloke already lost "points" for driving a turbo skyline.... I don't know how many that is... but if it was more then 1, and then he used your "tip" of not displaying P plates, which here is a $200 and something fine + ANOTHER 3 points.... and we only have 5 points per year here for P platers... means he would have lost his license straight out... so no... don't listen to this bloke.
-
LOL... yeh... top attitude there.... ...SYD must be dumber too... I can tell you, as a P plater that drove around for 2/3 years in a decently modified turbo Skyline that i got an enormous amount of cop attention- roughly about 25-30 times of run-ins with the cops. (This was when only Power to weight restrictions were in place) and on two occasions I had a policeman pull me over for driving a turbo skyline. I got away with it both times, because as someone mentioned about GTS4's, that they are heavier.... In total over that period, I got 1 minor defect, 1 major, 3 speeding fines (all small ones like 64 in a 60 zone... minor annoying things) probably something like 17 "random" license checks/breathos... and I could never go through a booze bus without being asked where im going..etc... etc... and I honestly drove sensibly, without trying to bring too much attention to myself.... The point I am trying to make here, is that even though I always tried to do the right thing, not dragging and all the "hoon"ish behavior that is so common, I still got lots of unwanted attention, paid the price for it a few times and now the law is even tougher.... AND you have a standard weighted Skyline, so you have no leg to stand on when a cop pulls you over because your breaking the power-to-weight ratio law and the new turbo law... Would I do it again in this day and age? No way.... all the close calls I had... all the run ins.... I would just cop it and leave that car in the garage and think about investing in a push bike/cheap daily car. Adam

Is It Just Me, Or Does Everyone Want To Drag?
WYTSKY replied to Super Drager's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Agreed... spool normally makes them shutup... some makes them more wild... but then if u do it a few more times they realize ur not going to do it... and fang off to the next "super" drag race against a magna.. -
oh noooo... now everyone will be able to make one good tutorial though. By the way... i have done this with a few variations of LED boards and the more expensive one from jaycar is far the best..... As an extra step... to disperse the light more evenly in the led tube, i sanded the front of it, worked pretty well.... If anyone does this.... they can't choose BLUE!
