  1. mmm... there may not be anything wrong, but yeh, torque to me is more important then kw... torque is that smack bang feeling that pulls you back into the seat when u hit boost... thats what we all like... it may have been that the other one produced more, or more likely, it all came on in one big hit, where as this one is more gradual... apart from some tuning, I dont know what u can do to change that?
  2. ah fair enough. well, that was the only thing I noticed so far.
  3. definitely not safe without a bigger fuel pump. that should be much higher on the priority list.. next thing is injectors maxing out... may need adjustable fuel pressure regulator/ new larger injectors to put more fuel into the engine to mix with the larger amount of air pumped in from the bigger turbo. next thing is afm will be close to its max now, i dont think it would hold up to 240rwkw... so probably need a z32.
  4. yeh i had same issue, just get some1 u know to weld, or take it to an exhaust shop, or kkr dumps fit the same and u can buy those brand new. I was aiming for the 250 mark.. ill be impressed if u get there... ive got all the supporting mods, got 230rwkw... torque and response was massive, but I think theres a bit of wastegate creap...
  5. While this is true, i also believe in learning... I had nothing but the few tutorials and looking into the engine bay for ages until i decided Id have a crack.... first time it took me close to 8 hours, then 6..then 4... and so on...no mates, as they all know nothing about cars.... just me and my skyline...so if I went from not knowing how to change a wheel 2.5 years ago when i first bought a car to being able to fix/replace/change almost anything on the skyline Im sure others could too! gl with it mate.
  6. Just a heads up- are u going to clean and flow test them? otherwise the next person who buys them will have to, as the fuel can dry up/cause clogs and cause spraying issues for the next car... the best way to avoid that is get them cleaned and then check they are flowing properly....
  7. yeh, doing it urself, your way better off... been pretty happy with my hypergear tr43. ive done it fair few times now....can take a turbo off a 33 in bout an hour and put on one in about 2-3... ready to go...so 5 days is pretty bloody bad.. you should use the mechanic your comfortable with, obviously Tao recommends that workshop because he is comfortable with them, but if ur not, then take it somewhere else or do it yourself.. some good tutorials on here on turbo upgrades. Adam
  8. wow...$3,300 for a cv joint... I dont know the price of skylines, but that seems pretty high considering my gf's charade got BOTH joints done for I think $~400 incl parts... I know her car is worth 20 times less then yours but still....that seems massive unless there are known problems when fixing cv joints on ba xr8s... If you in VIC I can tell you the mechanic we took hers to, really nice bloke and had them done the same day we dropped it off. Adam
  9. hey dude, I got a exedy cushion button in mine and its holding fine at my power and awd...cost me about 300 about a year and a half ago to get installed. Workshop doesnt exist anymore though... gl with it.
  10. Crimes, this thread is over 4 years old...
  11. Man i hate those guys... think they know it all and u dont even know them from a bar of soap, yet they are apparently the fountain of knowledge about YOUR car... I just laugh at them these days like these guys don't know crap... normally makes them madder and you win I have a GTS4 and I always thought it was about 20-30kw less on a 4wd dyno?
  12. Wank factor X 11tybillion. it is used on turbo cars to cool the turbo down from the high temp exhaust gases made at high rpms... helps with keeping longevity of turbo by letting bearings cool, oil be drained properly.... blah blah.... all that sorta stuff.... not really needed on stock standard turbo skylines unless absolutely flogged....... just keeping the key in the ignition for a min or two does the same trick.... for those rare occasions you would fang it that hard... u can still put one on any car though... the only reason... the ONLY reason.... (apart from wank factor) I could think why he put it on an n/a supra is because he fangs it really hard at the track regularly and cant be bothered letting his car cool... if that was the case... car = thrashed = don't touch it anyway...
  13. Wheel sold, thanks Hypnotik! Boss kit still here
  14. I HAVE NEVER SEEN WORSE OFFSET FAIL!! its looks like he spent a couple grand on a massive homosexual version of the batmobile widebody kit and run out of money for rims! Any1 else notice the toilet roles in the back?! when u gotta go, u gotta go ?
  15. haha... offcourse n-dawg would say that now! i would to is good fun...
  16. definitely some deep built up anger there...... I'd do the same and MR_fanny, I have a similar story.... came back to gf's place late one night after going out, (bout 1 am). locked the car in her parents driveway... went inside, going to bed... 3 mins later my alarm goes off... there I am in my boxers... 1:03am at my gf's parents place, everyone asleep... and my bloody alarm goes off... I turn it off straight away... run out there to check, all looked fine...thought maybe I pushed the panic button, but then I saw the driver's door was a little bit open, and I know I closed it, because if you lock the car and the doors arent closed properly the alarm goes off when it arms after 15 seconds.....looked up and down the street, couldnt see anything... mayb it was the possums??? I sleept with pants and runners on that night... ready if I needed to be, as that had never happend before, and I sure as hell wasent going to let some punk try to damage/steal my car! so yeh, those weird things happen! why not try sticking some blue tack around the key hole/ window seals? see if any1 tried anything during the night? be safe.
  17. thanks for the interest in helping me guys, but I just decided to put the stock one back on,sell the boss kit and wheel and Ill try to get it recovered professionally... the boss kit just looked really weird vs the stock setup... so maybe I needed a gtr one?
  18. Hey guys, I bought both these items brand new (about 2 weeks ago-so both well under warranty) and the boss kit didn't fit my car (probably because it is a GTS4) and I just decided to go back to my stock wheel and hopefully get it reupholstered. The boss kit was recommended and purchased from Just Jap, a Works Bell-model 622,fits R33's WITH hicas but with no airbags. located HERE The suede wheel was purchased from boost bits, a great trader on Skylines Australia. located HERE Both item's condition is brand new, just taken out for photos. I still have the receipt from Just Jap, but the wheel was cash on pickup. The wheel is really solid, no movement at all and you can't twist the suede like you can with other cheap wheels, feels really good and I think looks pretty neat. Located S.E suburbs of Melbourne, but possibly can be dropped off or posted at buyer's expense. Contact me on 0419 110 110. Price: $80 for boss kit, $70 for wheel or $140 together, wanting a quick sale. Adam
  19. Thats right, my dad barely goes past 2,500 in it, and only 1 other mate Ive let drive it, told him before hand if theres any funny business hes walking back..... no joking around, and I said I would tell him when he could give it a bit, so he'd ask and most of the time id say yeh, give a little squirt.... was absolutely fine.... now im not going to judge your character, but seems to me that your point of view was not expressed harsly enough.... maybe you were trying to be polite or not look half scared/upset... but ur worrying your going to die in your own car with someone else going crazy in the drivers side, yet he thought you were joking..... perhaps harsher language, really yelling at him, or threating physcial behavior if he doesnt stop might have worked a little better. least youve learnt your lesson, and your car is ok... next time something like this happens, where people ask to have a drive, i tell them i'll take them and that theyll be too sh*t scared to drive because they will be holding on, and I mostly dont disappoint Adam
  20. Hey guys, searched through these forums, could come up with much to help me.... I bought a new steering wheel... no issues, looked fine. I looked around for a boss kit to suit the s1 33 gts4 (that was an n/a but has turbo bits bolted on) and I could only find stuff for gtst's... so I assume the parts were the same... bought a works bell 622 boss kit to suit an ecr33 gtst with no airbag but with hicas.... as recommended by just jap... and the link is: http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...at=0&page=1 and I am really stumped! the box came with the boss adapter, screws and Allan key, and one black wire(shown below) - I assume the horn wire button.... but nothing is fitting right, working right, or anything... please advise! this is my steering wheel... and this is the black wire to the horn... I take off the wheel to find this:(notice the arrow pointing to a small metal point, that I could push on and If I contacted it with my old horn button I could make the horn of the car go off... now it appears that that this little metal point always used to touch this: (off the original wheel)..so that when u push the horn button it was always contacting waiting for the circuit to be joined... and the back of this circular thing 1 pic above: the wire is the one the horn button used to attach to... so now how the HELL am I meant to make this work?! the white plug on the end of this does not appear to fit into anything.... and I cannot attach the boss adapter to the thing above that used to always touch that metal point... also... where is the stuff to enable hicas?? is it these 3 holes??? (on the bottom of the boss adapter) and all the instructions are in japanese and there is not much help out there! please someone point me in the right direction??? is this the right boss kit?? Thanks heaps in advance. Adam
