Hey gazzilla... just a thought... if you did want to keep your pfc ecu in there (without the commander) why not just unscrew the front of it if you can? and replace with a standard plate... I have a spare r33 ecu lying around and if you want to borrow the front plate feel free... they wouldn't know serial numbers/etc would they?

Quick Question About Gtrs And Gts4s
WYTSKY replied to WYTSKY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
crap.... so when you say freak... like the steering wheel was constantly really tight?... i.e lots of torque being moved to the front? I heard some people make their tires a tiny bit bigger or smaller on either the front or the back to give a good constant amount of awd traction..because it is tricking the system.... I have no problem if the 4wd system is always on... but ONLY if it wont wear it out faster then normal... because some people say there is always a little bit of torque going to the front... in which case im sure i'd be ok if i get staggered wheels because the 4wd system is on permanently anyway... but I have also heard a lot of comments that it will only kick in "when neccessary" in which case i believe the system would wear out quicker if it is not permanently meant to be on... someone must have the dead set answer? Fr Brake Constantly Squealing
WYTSKY replied to Paradizzle's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeh, some brands of pads such as bendix have screech bars that tell you that you are in need of new pads, but they put them really forward, so that when you still have about 50% left they start touching the rotor and squeel... you can just bend them back and then you can get a good 80% out of them -
Quick Question About Gtrs And Gts4s
WYTSKY replied to WYTSKY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So is that the tire size? ie... 255's on the back may be a tiny bit larger then 235s or 245s on the front in terms of "rolling diameter"??? Thanks -
lol, good start bud, get a strip of leds... makes it look like this.... Adam

hey guys...I know there are a number of similar topics like this on the forums, but I am interested in getting a set of wheels... I just wanted to know if gts4's or gtrs can have rims with staggered widths.... i.e 17*9 in the front and 17*10 in the back and not wear out the 4wd system? I have seen pics with gtrs having some skinny rims on the front and massive deep dish rims on the rear... I thought the 4wd computer would constantly bring torque to the front wheels because of different widths and weights and eventually your 4wd system will wear out. Something I am curious about just due to the amount of rims that come through th se forum but they are mostly thinner in the front then the rear.... And just for the record I don't want to make mine a 2wd to use different width rims... Thanks, Adam P.S sorry admins if this is the wrong section... didn't think it counted as a tyre or suspension problem...

mmmm... found that out after about using them for 100km and 120 bucks!!

Thanks for the help guys, I ended up going to brakes plus in Burwood today, they were very handy and installed some premium QFC pads in the car for 140 bucks including labour...and so far so good no squeaks... Im bloody happy....for now

yes I am using all the shims... some people say I should use them, some say I shouldnt... I just give up
-
thanks bud, any others you can think of? and I have done soooo many things..... some new crappy feddro pads.....nothing... changed to bendix general under some advice that ultimates are too firm.... did nothing... machined the rotors... did nothing... changed to ultimates... nothing... anti squeel stuff.... nothing... shimmed... nothing... sanded pads back to a bit more rough... lasted 5 mins... I am sick of it!!!! lots of disapointment!!!

Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone could recommend some good brake specialists around the metro VIC area... I am in the SE suburbs but would probably drive up to Darwin to get my brakes to stop squealing so bad! A cop almost wanted to defect me for them today! load of Cr*p! SOOO I promised him I would see a brake specialist as soon as possible... so I am being a good boy! Thaanks! Adam

lol... that was the first question I knew I was going to get .... just wanted to wait and see who was going to say it ! but to answer your question... it is very hard not to.... considering how quick the boost comes on... and how low it does.... I also forgot to mention I have a powerfc... but with a crappy tune.. I am not running on a stock ecu.... and thank you for confirming what I thought about the afm...but is it anything to do with the bov because it is making the woosh sound as well as the cho cho cho( so I thought some air is going around and some is coming back out the pod) so if it is the afm... when I chuck in the z32 that I have... do I relocate it or will it do better once tuned in the same spot? I would like to keep it where it currently is... Adam

Hey guys, as some of you may know, not long ago I needed some help about driving my car untuned with a new turbo, injectors, afm and fuel pump, before I was going to get a tune. I put in the turbo so far, getting a fuel pump this week and then put the rest in over the weekend or so.... but something a little strange seems to be happening to my car at the moment, with just the new turbo in... The car is running brilliantly at the moment... even though its untuned I can tell there is alot more power... the only concern I have is that after I hit boost ( which comes on really fast and really quick - (2,600 - 3,000 ) and let off the accelerator and go into neutral... ie rolling to the red lights... the revs drop as normal...... but they go too low... they may drop bellow 400rpm or 100rpm and the car may even stall on itself... this only happens in neutral when revs are free... not when I am rolling to the lights in a gear after hitting boost and the revs are a much slower controlled drop. These are my assumptions: (tell me if you have any other ideas what it could be) 1. Crappy tune- especially not for this turbo and the rest of the stuff I am going to put on (but we already knew this) 2. Standard Blow off valve not doing its job correctly any more because of bigger turbo (only running about 11psi though) and some of the air it lets back into the turbo and the other goes back the other way making the cho cho cho sound and goes out through the pod making the afm read negative numbers so it drops the rpm and retards timing,etc... so it almost stalls... 3. Timing belt/actuator i don't know??!? timing belt was changed about 40,000 kms ago.... so to help this I have heard I should relocate the afm meter to around the throttle body area and/or get a new BOV but I want something legal.... so maybe like a GTR one.... but I still don't know... Thanks for the help in advance. Adam.

Jdm S15 Nissan Silvia
WYTSKY replied to PLR33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
bad luck mate, looks like it would have been a nice car, why don't you fix it up?? -
This is the edit from the first post: Hey guys, an update to my previous topic: Anyway, I got too excited and decided to put the new turbo in... took about 8 hours... after a few little dramas...... which Tao(Hypergear) helped me fix at NO cost and was fantastic about the whole situation and said he would help his customers when neccessary just because he wants to make everyone happy... the car was going well... and it now is absolutely flying... on standard turbo injectors and pump it is at about 93% at about 6,000 so I don't rev any higher... but I swear... it boosts straight away! as soon as I change gears at about 2,500-3,000 there is already about 5 psi cumming in and by 3,300-3,400 I am on 11 psi and it feels really strong with this turbo... alot more then the standard turbo at 12 psi........ My actuator wont go much higher then 13 psi because it is soft... because of the n/a compression I didn't want to go any higher in the start.. but man... this thing at 18 psi would rip so I now just have the injectors/ afm/ fuel pump to put in ( and tune)... but it already feels so quick....least the biggest thing is out the way what do you guys recon of the turbo?... I have never had a new or bigger turbo before... does this all sound about right? what should happen with the tune? Kind regards Adam

Yeh, once again, that was the next thing I did... bought a gtst setup and some front gtr arms (GTS4) and ended up upgrading the brakes and going to 5 stud in one go btw... i am halfway through my upgrades.... i just put on a tr43 and I thought 200kws felt fast... well I am esstimating its over 230kw atm without the 740cc injectors I have and a fuel pump and tune... I am expecting about 250kw+.... you made the right decision turboing! Adam
