  1. Thanks heaps for that info mate, that will really help. I am planning to give myself a weekend to get all the bits in and check it is all running ok. Kind Regards, Adam
  2. well said matty, and I am learning alot so thank you all!! So an update on the situation: I am planning to put my turbo in this weekend, then will wait untill I get my fuel pump and chuck that in... leaving only afm and injectors to do before the tune..will drive it safely for the mean time (2 weeksish) and then the day before chuck the injectors and afm in... then get it towed to tuner the next day... sound like a plan? any suggestions? Adam
  3. ok then, thanks for that... i didn't think they would be that expensive... but then your at the counter of supercheap with a line behind you thinking i could get some cheapy coppers and you go, nar i'll lose my spot and these are more expensive... so they will be better obviously not... ta Adam
  4. just curious on the width of these and offset?
  5. I think I just solved my problems... according to whereis.com my place is 28km away from Dr. Drift's shop... and being a basic racv member you get 30km tilt tray towing for free ... I just better check the car turns on after putting everything onto it...
  6. hold up... i just bought some bosch plantnum irridiums... or irridiums..i don't know...buti paid $120 bucks for them and they are meant to last a while....... they aren't going to go are they? also... i never realised how powerful the powerfc has been untill now..it does appear to make all this alot easier and rob82: venting a lil are we?
  7. thanks very much guys, and paul i forgot about your awsum faq site im sure that should help...but that is good news about the injectors and some good ideas with the z32... I have been controlling myself for the past few weeks with my current setup.... its hard but i would keep doing it to save money:P...damn those excels...so quick when you can't go over 3,000 Regards, Adam
  8. thank you very much for the info guys, I hate to say it but your bad experiences do help others that is as much as I thought would happen... leaning out...running horribly and going through heaps of fuel... i was hoping i would be able to fit everything except the injectors.. i am surprised at the z32...so if i put that in it wont go? and yes r31nismoid... it will be a fair bit of a haul from bentleigh.... I may take the towing route up there... Thanks again guys, you've saved my car once again. Adam
  9. Hey guys, an update to my previous topic, which is stil bellow if you want to check what was happening before: Anyway, I got too excited and decided to put the new turbo in... took about 8 hours... after a few little dramas...... which Tao(Hypergear) helped me fix at NO cost and was fantastic about the whole situation and said he would help his customers when neccessary just because he wants to make everyone happy... the car was going well... and it now is absolutely flying... on standard turbo injectors and pump it is at about 93% at about 6,000 so I don't rev any higher... but I swear... it boosts straight away! as soon as I change gears at about 2,500-3,000 there is already about 5 psi cumming in and by 3,300-3,400 I am on 11 psi and it feels really strong with this turbo... alot more then the standard turbo at 12 psi........ My actuator wont go much higher then 13 psi because it is soft... because of the n/a compression I didn't want to go any higher in the start.. but man... this thing at 18 psi would rip so I now just have the injectors/ afm/ fuel pump to put in ( and tune)... but it already feels so quick....least the biggest thing is out the way what do you guys recon of the turbo?... I have never had a new or bigger turbo before... does this all sound about right? what should happen with the tune? Kind regards Adam hey guys, I recently got my new hypergear tr43 and I have that sitting on my floor as well as a set of nismo 740cc injectors and a z32 with plug. the only thing left that I have to get to put into the car before a tune is a new fuel pump. I plan to get it tuned by Dr. Drift in a few weeks after I have cash for the fuel pump asap... my question is... can I drive the car (!very sensibly!) with the injectors, afm, turbo and soon a fuel pump without a tune? or any combination of those... ie... turbo and afm or injectors and fuel pump......or is it just too risky? othernwise I will have to put it all in the day before I take it to Sam (Dr. Drift)? I have a power fc + commander, as well as a spare stock ecu... which one would be better to drive around on? Thanks in advance, Adam
  10. they reduce wheel spin...because not all the power is going just to the back wheels.... you just need to have a strong clutch to take the front and rear drive shafts.
  11. why not just turbo current 25de? thats wot i did and I am still very happy with the results... the parts only cost me $500.. labour was a lil costly.. but looking back.. if I had known then as much as I know now I could have most likely done it myself except for drilling an oil line into the block... but honestly... if you were going to make yours the same as a det(cams, pistons, etc) , I would say you would pay that much more on parts+labour instead of just simply "dropping in a complete det" ... ~$2000ish complete and ready to go ? (mine was more complicated becuz of 4wd... was a headache... so cbf ) all i can say is non turbo compression is awsum with the turbo... when I had mine going with just standard turbo gear and non turbo compression i left standard gtsts for dead... good luck with it! Adam
  12. can definetly vouch for this product... I have one in my car... helps so much around corners and in the wet.. you can actually feel your steering wheel get tighter and firmer the further you turn it up(more torque applied to your front drive shaft) ... also helps with launches
  13. jeeze, does not sound good mate. I know this is a long shot, but for a time I had a miss firing problem too, which was not as severe as your case, but at some points it got close. I bought all new sparks, splitfire coils, etc etc.. I was almost going to buy a new harness to plug into the coils.. but Nissan wanted over 300 for that! turned out, it was very simply... a small rubber hose that had a considerable crack in it at the bottom of it... changed it over for 8 dollars and my problem was solved! as I said, I know its a long shot, but you sound as though you have exhausted most other options. Good luck with it mate! Adam
  14. Hey guys, I want to buy some s15 injectors for my r33, for an upgrade. I believe I have already located 4, so I only need another 2, but I am willing to purchase another set of 4 if neccessary. I would prefer parts located in Melbourne. my mob is 0419110110. Thanks, Adam
  15. awsum wheels mate, that is a godly model of dish! so.. basiclly need a wide body kit and guard roll and flaring to fit??
  16. Awsum, thanks for that. I thought my mate was full of cr*p when he said I need fuel pump, injectors AND a fpr... I have a powerfc and commander
  17. hey SL1D1N, I in no way mean to hijack your thread, I am in a similar position (should have similar power by this weekend) then will need a tune and fuel system upgrade, and I was going to ask a similar question as you, thought it might just be able to be answered here instead of opening up a new thread.... So to upgrade the fuel system, you don't need to get a FPR if you get new injectors and pump? and does that mean a fpr just uses your current injectors to spray out more then what they are meant to? wot about your fuel filter when upgrading? Thanks mate, Adam BTW good luck with the tune!
  18. Thanks for the advice, I am sure you are right, and someone like me who does not know all the ins and outs of these parts truely stuggles to make accurate estimates and calculations, which is why i try to research but there are mainly just specs, or limited resources, not what this housing will do as oppose to another, what a slightly larger inlet will make the turbo do ....etc,etc..... and how it will affect my car specifically.... so as you rightly said, I must ask around until I can roughly work out an accurate budget. which I have done and I am now satisfied with my choices, based on the power they should make, and the power I wanted safely. I appreciate all the help I can get! Kind regards, Adam
  19. Thanks for the advice finnny. Luckily though, I believe I have made my mind up, Stao (Hypergear) has been very helpful and has been looking after me through out this ordeal, if it wasent for him, my car would have probably had a mouthful of metal by now! I decided to use one of his turbo's ( a NEW tr43 ) with some additions... it should be close to the power I desire and with some tuning will be pretty responsive. Thanks again everyone for the help! this is why I love the site so much! Regards, Adam P.S I will put up the results after a tune!
  20. thanks for that wolverine, and yeh my bad for writing $1600 for turbo and accessories... I meant turbo and actuators, adapter plates... will edit first post Adam
  21. fellas and (dangerman4) you need to read what I am saying again: "... and want a turbo with a quick response and can handle around 300rwkw eventually with the right mods..." not the car at 300kw... just so the turbo does not crap itself when I eventually put in the supporting mods... And I know a tune can help determine that.. but I am sure a garrett part would last longer then an ebay part.....for example. Thanks, Adam
  22. thanks for the help so far, wolverine: if you check what I already have in the car and what I need, it says I have a exedy cushion button clutch... which should last for a little while shouldn't it? and I already knew about the fueling part and tune... I didn't want 300 straight off the bat.... I want the car to run at about 250rwkw... but just have the turbo's max ability to reach around 280-300rwkw for future purposes. Also wolverine... I am asking you guys.. where are some "LOCAL REPUTABLE TURBO SHOPS"?!?! That's the info im looking for..... jeffworld2: I have been looking at 3076's and 3071's but havent had a great idea on pricing? and compared to what other turbos? with adapter plates or actuators..etc... ready to go basiclly.. Thanks, Adam
  23. Sorry what do you mean "hks offerings such as gtrs" The other thing is, based on the prices I have seen, there are no hks turbos for around my price range to perform to 300rwkw. please correct me if I am wrong.
  24. Hey guys, I am aware similar topics have been covered a number of times but I would still appreciate some help directly about my car, because I am stuggling to get help from the companys and finding good prices. Short story is: I had a turbo put on the car: was apparently a demo hypergear one, wasent ment to be sold, the mechanics have been pretty good about it, they will (for free): take off this one, put on the new one of my choice, and refund the $600 I paid for it. you guys were very helpful before when I was trying to decided what to do, now I need some more help again: The way I see it I have 3 options probably in this order: 1. A new Japanese turbo with a warranty 2. A second hand Japanese turbo for cheaper possibly with a small(or no) warranty 3. A new Chinese turbo with a 1 year warranty Just so you know... I have roughly a $1600 budget for the turbo, actuator, adapter plates ...etc.. because the labour is free ... and want a turbo with a quick response and can handle around 300rwkw eventually with the right mods... Car has: Powerfc, cushion button clutch, big FMIC, xforce dump and full exhaust sys with gutted cat, splitfire coils, Car needs:(in the near future) bigger injectors fuel pump and regulator tune and afm Please tell me what you would do and where to look for cheap parts (hopefully in vic)... are any of your mechanics garrett distributors for example? Any turbos you could recommend? I find most of the topics don't include the prices with the turbos on the site. Thank you very much in advance, Adam
  25. Thanks for the advice guys, really does help me rule out what to do.... this is the update from today and me spending about $50 on the phone bill to the mechanics and Hypergear: Mechanics: The turbo they showed me they would put in my car (with the chip) "apparently" IS NOT the one that is currently in the car but the exact same model... Hypergear: The turbo currently on my car has "apparently" got the same model number "0000029" as the demo one they gave the mechanics a number of years ago.. and the turbo that is on my car was also made a number of years ago... SO NOW THE TEST... I worked out= I said to the mechanics:"are you 100% positive this is not the turbo you showed me with the chip?" they looked me right in the eye and said: "no....take off the intake pipe and check it yourself" so tommorow I will take off the intake pipe to the turbo... I will check the fins... if any single one is chipped I am going to give hell to the mechanics for lying right to my face! if it is fine then hypergear should not make accusations ... We will see.. Adam
