-
hey mate between me and the mrs, we've managed to get some of it done. she can't translate the kanji which is used for the more descriptive stuff... which kinda defies the point of translating it really, but here's what we got question marks are the untranslateable bits, so you have context TRD sports soarer-v turbo sales points: one owner ???? supra (brake?) calipers HKS GT9 bin/pin ????? intercooler HKS f-con - HKS-EVC - HKS air cleaner aero bonnet, aero mirror, aero fender tower bar gt wing HKS GT????? turbine, rear bar fender ??? (possibly indicating damage) key lock 4 door hope that's some kind of help she hasn't done japanese for 6 years and she could translate it into english sounds, but knows nothing about cars... i had to work out what the sounds meant lol i'm never doing this again

Wanted: Non Turbo R33 Skyline
Fungus Mungus replied to skylinekido's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
got a silver r33 series 2 non turbo manual in melb if you're interested mate. asking $11k for it. it has a 3 inch cat back, 17 inch mags and a short shifter. can include original items as well pm if you're interested. cheers -
i've been having a similar problem for a while now. it always goes away when i put new plugs in, but comes back after a couple hundred kays. never paid too much attention to it until this week. i had my 100,000km service recently. the only thing not replaced was the plugs (at my request, had NGK iridiums only about 1200km old). the misfire got really bad after a timing problem was fixed. replaced the plugs to be on the safe side and the misfire stopped. the thing is, i'm now experiencing a severe lack in power. when i say severe, don't just pass it off as a non turbo thing, i'm talking 12-13 seconds to get up to 100km/h pulling onto the freeway. when i put my foot down in any gear after 2nd all it does is make noise. and what a noise. my car has always been legal in the volume department, but this morning i couldn't hear the harley sitting next to me at the lights. something is very very wrong. any thoughts? i'm taking it back to the shop that did the service as soon as i get a chance, but work is busy and these guys take a ridiculous amount of time to get anything done. for my major service i was without a car for TWO WEEKS. any thoughts?

Replaced Timing Belt And Now Car Won't Start
Fungus Mungus replied to Fungus Mungus's topic in General Maintenance
suddenly i am quite impressed they did it for under the quoted price, and the mechanic waited around til almost 7pm could pick it up when i finished work this guy really takes pride in his work. he even left the broken parts in the boot so i could take them back to the bloke who f**ked this all up in the first place. what a legend. the boss is an ass though, i'll stand by that without question anyway. i have a working car again. i should go check the events section -
Replaced Timing Belt And Now Car Won't Start
Fungus Mungus replied to Fungus Mungus's topic in General Maintenance
the mechanic who's working on my car is new to JSA, but seems to have a fair bit of experience with RB series motors in general they finally got back to me with a quote for $430 today and they reckon it should be right to go by wed or thurs things he mentioned were wrong: -cas is stripped -cam linkage thing is stripped -timing is out by a brutal amount -and something else which i didn't listen to because i was trying to get on to bell st from teh calder freeway i won't be taking my car back there again, purely based on the fact that it took them a week to get me a quote, but at least it's not gonna be a ball breaker to fix i am somewhat relieved -

imagine being bludgeoned with the cam you broke. that would make me lol still waiting for a quote for the job. the bloke reckons it won't be astronomical, but then, i've never used these guys before, they were just conveniently close to my work anyone had any experiences with JSA in preston? speifically, anything i should be worried about? -
Replaced Timing Belt And Now Car Won't Start
Fungus Mungus replied to Fungus Mungus's topic in General Maintenance
got a call from actual genuine import workshop about it today the tool who did it (admittedly, i asked him to do the job instead of getting it done right in the first place) didn't reattach the CAS properly and stripped some kind of linkage between the CAS and the cam shaft or something what he said was, if i'm honest, completely over my head but i understood the basics, just not what was going on. they reckon i'll have a quote before they close today, hopefully i can pick it up after work tomorrow -

sounds like this (hopefully) won't be too hard on the wallet then all i have to do is wait til the mechanic decides to come to work. he called in sick today. meanwhile i'm stuck driving a mid 80's camry with no cd player, no balls, and a broken mirror (kindly loaned by my girlfriend's mum) the only good thing about all this is that, in said camry, i don't smash my elbow on my baby seat every time i change gears. -

had someone outside the situation eyeball it. reckons the CAS is buggered. getting it towed to an import workshop near my work tomorrow. -
Replaced Timing Belt And Now Car Won't Start
Fungus Mungus replied to Fungus Mungus's topic in General Maintenance
have checked and rechecked everything. everything that was touched has been replaced as it was before. when it cranks it doesn't sound any different to what it would normally and by all rights it **should** be sparking, but i'll check that when i take plugs out to do comp check. as for leaks on intake, it's a non turbo so it was pretty easy to remove all the intake piping and there is no suction at the manifold. everything was done following a workshop manual and using the proper tools for the job. time to recheck everything again, comp test, spark test, and if all else fails, get it towed to a workshop and shell out a million billion dollars to have someone else fix it -

also, it's an rb25de... just for reference -
well, as the topic title says... replaced timing belt. everything done according to the book thing. everything happens when starter motor turns except for the actual engine running part. engine became flooded and plugs got wet so replaced them as quick easy fix. still not starting timing is right cams are right CAS is right exhaust smells like petrol and there is no suction from the intake. does anybody know what in gods name is going on?

it's not the neighbours i'm worried about, it's my 4 week old baby. i'll jump into it as soon as i'm up tomorrow. might be able to make it in time, or maybe even meet you guys in frankston. i'll see how i go. depends mostly on how much sleep i'm allowed to get tonight.
-
damn hell ass timing belt needs replacing i was really looking forward to this one if i can get it done before the meet i'll see you guys tomorrow, but odds are not good have fun guys

is anyone else concerned that eastlink itself hasn't shown up on google maps yet? is this whole eastlink thing just a mass hallucination or something? according to their satellite images, there is no freeway there at all. just dirt. damn backwards australians and their dirt freeways...
-
just as a side note, this will be the last day that eastlink is free... it's plausible that it will be a carpark rather than a freeway... i'll still be there nonetheless
-
i've done the full length of it a couple of times now and my god it's awesome. it would probably be better in something that doesn't run on deisel and do 0-100 in like a week and a half, although it is nice to be able to see over the top of everybody

for ADSL2 this is pathetic. i should have words with TPG

my first car never passed a roadworthy and ended up in a demo derby. which was hella fun. it was an old VB commodore, which was followed by a VC commie that met the same fate. after that came an XD panel van hand painted (with a brush) in "wheelie bin green". that ended up on a tow truck before it was finished. my first car with NUMBER PLATES was an XG panel van. i drove that for a few years and, while it was cool to sleep in the back on road trips and was great for carrying my drum kit around, i never really got that thrill out of it that i wanted. after being in a few shunts and bumps and one rather high speed collision that left a perfect imprint of a mitsubishi mirage in the side of it, i lost all love for it and lent it to a mate with a suspended licence. it never came back... when i took an r33 for a test drive at the importer was when i really got my first rush of awesomeness. it doesn't even have a turbo, but being my first car with fuel injection, let alone a decent rev range, i fell in love and bought it. the only reason i'm selling it now is to upgrade to bigger and better things... like whomping turbos and the like
-
definitely up for this one. arthurs seat is always fun
-
it makes a lot more sense for me, being from box hill it would save me doing the eastlink part twice in 2 weeks. once for the cruise, and secondly for the arthurs seat cruise. you're right... this could get expensive
