  1. Will think about it....the car would definitely be competitive looking at the times(thats us on slicks though)......did some testing on semi slicks not long ago....biggest size I can get are 240's.....results were not good ......melted em real quick......would be fun though though. I might duck out and watch the next event.....looks like alot of fun.
  2. What class of car can you use to do this event? Are you aloud to use slicks? Would I be able to run a Group A?
  3. that's what it will get.
  4. Using the Interceptor......so a piggyback unit.
  5. what type of globe are the high beams?.....and what would be a good replacement?
  6. Mines gone from approx 5.4km per lt to approx 7.2km per litre....same sort of driving.....but my old turbo was completely stuffed
  7. This is a great upgrade.....but an absolute F#%KING bitch of a job.....sort of like building a ship in a bottle! 9hrs it took to get back in. Mind you I only drooped the cross-member on the gearbox. I reakon the car has about another 40-50KW's at the wheels.....cannot wait until I do the Haltec. Pic's to come of the turbo and kit. P.S. This is not an easy job even with the parts made.
  8. I can get my hands on V35 Skyline 2 Door Premium wheels if you want them? Your other option is to give Ben at Northside Presitge in Sydney a ring....I think he has a spare set.
  9. Hi Guy's, This post is only for expressions of interest. I am currently due to unforeseen circumstances (sort of ) doing an upgrade/rebuild to my turbo. The upgrade is High Flow, Garret BB's(500hp) and steel impellers(basically a GT30). As this is not a straight forward upgrade in terms of the unit fitting back up I was thinking about putting kits together to make the job a bit simpler for those who wish to go in the same direction as myself and danwatt. I am estimating the complete kit to be around $2,100 to $2,500 not including shipping(I will post up a confirmed price later). The kit will contain something similar to below: Turbo upgrade from your unit to High Flow, Garret BB's(500hp) and steel impellers(GT30) Modification(reweld) of the intercooler aluminum piping(supply of your part for modification) Spacer and new bolts for the intake pipe(supply of your part for modification) Modification of the water pipe to match the old setup(supply of your part for modification) Modification to the Oil line to match the old setup(supply of your part for modification) These modifications can be done by yourself but I just thought rather the re pioneering the way yourself why not just by the kit's already done. anyway....thoughts guy's?
  10. will not solve all your problems!.....but you car might be fixed
  11. I had not heard about it until about three weeks ago at Phillip Island. We had a kid doing the course helping us rebuild the engine and pitting for us. Have to say its a great idea.....and the kid worked his arse off.
  12. I'm using Precision Turbo's in Wetherill Park. I had to drive back from Phillip Island to Sydney....the gearbox spitting fluid happened at about hour 4. No noise from my turbo.....but the front end didn't spin that well either. I will ask about the internals when I pick it up.....at this stage all I know is steel and Garrett BB's + housing.
  13. Exhaust impeller fell off on the trip down to Phillip Island. Whats GCG? Was still drivable but 2T of cars with about 80HP is'nt fun.....was getting outdragged by fully laden B-Doubles P.S. If this ever happens to you and you have a distance to travel make sure you drive through the gears using the Tiptronic. I found that my gearbox would start overheating(and I don't know why) if I left it in Drive.
  14. it broken!!!! But it will be better soon. After it gets it's high flow, Steel impellers and Garrett bb's
  15. might be in for this one if the I get the Turbo back in the car in time.... Slight mod's to do damb it.
  16. I just re-read my response.....sorry my response reads a little different to how I had it in my head.....I know what you were saying and it's pretty clear you weren't having a shot at us. There are some pretty quick street cars out there I agree.....but can they do 1,000k's at 9/10's or even 40 laps at Eastern Creek at that. On top of that do they get better the longer they go? I have driven some pretty well prepaired street registered race cars in the past and non of them really do the race thing as well as the Group A's or a purpose build race car. Power to weight with good balance and grip should always pay off. I find if you have to much power it is very easy to overdrive the car, or make tyres go off. This is OK for short races or sprints but not for long races. Just to be clear I am talking about Circuit cars not Targa/Hillclimb/Sprint cars. Richo is still racing his Falcon, Bowe his Mustang and Seton his Capri. What I can tell you is Seton may be driving MCM this year with us. Wether it's a BMW or Sierra I don't know. Unfortunately I wont be racing at MCM but Dad will. P.S. Payback will be sweet if it rains at MCM....I'll see how Dad likes semi slicks it the rain!!!!
  17. Give us a couple of thousand laps around there like Seto and we will get a bit closer. Some of us have only done about 15 laps. I also think that 5 seconds off Seto's pace in the wet is pretty good for non professions.....and bringing them home straight on top of that. Good weekend had by all. Well done to David Towe(BMW) who won & Bill Cutler(BMW) for third in the last race in the wet.
  18. yeh I found that the oil filter gets a little hotter with the standard oil filter....might go and get a K&N....there's not much price difference.
  19. wanted to come but I have a little problem with the exhaust side of my turbo.....it's not attached to the turbo anymore.....low compression V6 2.5lt motor pushing close to 2T isn't fun.
  20. He must have seen you driving or trying to park it Andy....you have to admit you may not have a Volvo but you certainly drive it like your in one.
  21. Bent a rod in our RB20 stroker!!!!!
