Happy Birthday! Would love to come for a drink or two but I have a poker night to go to.
-
yeah I could give you a hand too taking things apart. I think I know how to use a spanner and socket LOL
-
Damn Luke, I saw the pic and that was enough to kick me in the nuts and make me cry. I know I would be interested in some bits and pieces from your car, so let me know what your going to do buddy. If anything I am really after that black plastic thing that covers the boot latch, but certainly other stuff could be possible (interior etc)

I just got myself a Apexi filter so I will see how I go. If it blows then I will look at something else. Thanks for your help guys much appreciated.
-
Yeah I plan on mounting the filter when I install it. From my understanding it improves fuel economy more than any real power advancement. It sounds as though I will have to look online for one. I have had a look on ebay and a friend of mine told me they have some dodgy ones on there but I will take another look.

Hey all! I am not very automotively enclined, so I was after some advice. I am looking for a NEW decent filter for my turbo, probably a pod filter (?). basically I just want to replace the factory airbox in my S2 R33. I have heard Apexi is the way to go. I was hoping to get one by the weekend so I can get it installed this Sunday when I do my service. So if you guys would be kind enough to point me in the right direction of where I can get one here in Adelaide (preferred) or somewhere online. I had a quick look at the SAU traders with not much luck. like I said, I am not very auto savy beyond checking the oil, coolant and the tyres having air in them , so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you have the black plastic thing that goes over the boot latch (When you pop the boot and look straight down at the boot latch, that black plastic cover) and how much?

so what's happening after the dinner? Are we cruising or bowling? I can't make the dinner, so I just want a heads up for the after dinner entertainment. Cheers
-
did anyone catch the story. I only got the last couple of minutes. typical today tonight. Anything that is usually good, they show at the end except this one thing in which they decided ti show at the beginning of the show.

I would say it's official girls and boys http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22608294-2,00.html read it and weep.

Going to have to bail on dinner. sorry Might meet up after if people decide what they are going to do.

hey guys! I just saw there is an article on SAPOL and the use of laser guns on Today Tonight This thursday 18/10 They are talking about how there testing lab has been closed down or something. I didn't get the whole commercial but I think it might be worth checking out to see what they are on about.

That's gotta suck. Oh well I guess next time you will probably think twice before pushing in the rain..... It all depends what you really want. It will cost a bit to fix if your not insured. depends if you really like that car and want to hang on to it or if it is time to move onto something else. ultimately the decision is yours.

Yeah count me in Steve mate! Hey do they also give like 100 clubs too cos sometimes I forget to hold onto the club and it travels further than the ball! LOL I would probably prefer bowling myself, but wouldn't say no to a cruise after; as long as it wasn't too long.

MADAZ: Yeah I took it as tongue and cheak! I thought it was quite funny actually, that I was laughing enough to disturb others around me! She's all good!

Madaz you are correct in regard to the hand held devices. A guy who use to work for the company that manufactures our radar systems now works for SAPOL fixing speed detection equipment. He said that the guys doing the calibration don't always do a good job. In regard to the ones mounted on patrol cars as I mentioned above, once they are calibrated with the vehicle, usually they just hook in with cars on-board computer that does all the trip stuff, they are as about as good as they will get and rarely need re-calibration. Deluxe: How does one moving object measure the speed of the other moving object? Hotwire is almost there, but they do it with frequencies rather than speed. Here is how it goes. 1.)the radar works at a frequency F 2.)If the radar moves like when it is mounted on a car then the frequency of the radar beam is shifted by and amount Fd so the new frequency of the radar is: F_new=F+Fd where Fd=(F x v1)/C where v1=speed of moving radar and C=speed of light= 300000000 metres/second= 1.08 billion kph 3.) when the radar beam bounces off the car being detected which is moving with speed v2 this produces a doppler shift of the signal of frequency F_new so you get F_new2=F_new + (F_new x v2)/C = F + (F x v1)/C + v2 x (F + (F x v1)/C)/C so given that you measure F_new2, you know the values of v1 (from radar moving speed), F, and C you easily work out what v2 (the speed of the detected car is - the only thing you don't know). A computer on board does that calculation in a split second. if you are still confused google doppler shift, speed cameras and read up. Hope this clears things up for everyone.

Aftdrk: What's the deal with the music video version you posted. It looks like you have bird crap on the lens that isn't there in the other clips you posted. Hotwire: I know some people can be a little touchy about having their number plate showing. I know some people voiced their concern to me after I posted pics from the last cruise to mt barker.
-
Madaz: "Luke they have to stop you and fine you thats just a laser gun very inaccurate also 1 moving object cant pin point another moving objects speed" I have to pull you up on this one buddy. One moving object can determine the speed of another. All it needs to do is correct for the doppler shift introduced by the moving radar. You just need to calibrate for the motion of the radar. I am a physicist that works with radar a fair bit so trust me on that. A lot of those highway patrols with the radar on the roof have cameras built in on them. Sometimes all they do is speed up to get a photo of your plate and then next thing you know you have a surprise in your mail box. Luke (Heslo): Nice shot of the cop car dude!

It is possible they were after something else, I would never rule it out 100% cos I don't what they were thinking or if they even were thinking. My Nieghbour usually parks his at the rear of his place in a locked garage, but sometimes leaves on the street for prolonged periods which I think is just asking for trouble. It is hard to say definitively what's up cos you don't know how long they had been casing the place for. who knows. All I know is if they come back when I am there they will get a very rude shock when I walk out my room with my sword.
-
Great idea. I will certainly be keeping my eye out a lot more now and will be taking everyones rego that even looks at me twice.

was just talking with my neighbour who owns a skyline and he said that he reckons 13 have been stolen around the western suburbs in the last week. I don't know what his intel is like but just a heads up. He thinks there might be a gang going around hunting for them.
-
Thanks for your concern guys!
-
nah just my mum and step dad who was away camping at the time
-
Yeah I am sure, cos they were waiting outside for confirmation that my mum was home alone. They were waiting on the street til my last cousin left. my first cousin left 20 min before the last adn he saw them parked around the corner with the hood up, then they moved to where I indicated on the diagram. I was in the house watching tv like I normally do. as soon as my 2nd cousin took off, they got into the car and fired her up. I would say they were fairly injured because the windscreen was completely shattered there was glass everywhere (I have been picking it up for the last hr) and then everyone came running out and saw them back through the neighbours fence and peel off. I thought that they might be piss heads until I found out they were waiting steaking out the place and waited till my mum was alone. it certainly adds up to one thing pretty easily. Myself and the neighbours reckon they were going to try and force my mum to give them the keys to my car. soft target.
