  1. I read the first page and I agree with most of the comments and suggestions. This is a great idea and all, but at the end of the day our country is in a mass amount of debt, if they can find a way to get more money out of us they will. All these ideas take time, time costs money and money is something we don't have a lot of at the moment. In relation to the first post of this thread hypothetically, if these ideas were to be brought to life it would greatly reduce the income of the government. The police target modified cars more than standard cars because they know there will be something to defect. I've never been defected and the cost of these may vary state to state but let's assume the charge per defect is $110. The police show up to a "car cruise" organised on the internet and defect 35 cars out of the 50 that have shown up, let's assume that these cars have one defect - this will net them $3850. This doesn't include the 5 idiots who were speeding on the way there, the 2 idiots who are over the limit and the 1 idiot who has drugs in his car. It is unfortunate that modified cars are seen as an easy buck to make. The police aren't going to sit outside a school and ask the mothers to do a drug test or breath test - that would be absurd. It would also be a large waste of money, there will probably be one or two there if at all, who are over the limit. I love the idea and am excited to see what will come of this. I just can't see it happening. There's too much money to be lost on the governments side. Not to mention the cost they will incur to retrain police as well as setting up the 13 number. You also have to realise that they need to employ more government staff to cope with these changes, let's say an office of 20 people with varying wages between 35k and 90k a year - add these all up and that's big money. I also know how frustrating it is to have people complain about a rumbling exhaust in their quiet neighbourhood street but every time ACA or Today Tonight do a feature on car hoons, they're recruiting more supporters who believe that we're all out to do skids and eat babies. Whilst there are quite a few car enthusiasts and clubs out there, we're still a minority. I'm only 20, so maybe I've got it all wrong but this is my opinion and I'm hoping someone out there will look into it.
  2. Interesting video for headlight restoration.
  3. I think I know the one your talking about - I saw the photos in the for sale thread. I would have put myself in debt for that car.
  4. I've recently been watching the car market as I intend to purchase my very own GTR in the next year or so and have noticed the recent increase of R33's for sale, around the same price as the R32's. Firstly, this confused me greatly because the R34 is still around the 50+ mark, so you would expect the 33 to be around the 30+ range. Not only that but I have always noticed a whole lot more support for the 34 and the 32 - but what about the 33? It still contains the great RB26dett, which from memory had a different torque band from the 32; while the 33 is roughly 100kg's heavier, it's still lighter than any family "performance" car on the market today. Personally, the 32 has more aggressive styling than the 33. It was made to look "fast" whereas the 33 has smoother, cleaner lines and looks well.. fatter. I'm not much of a fan of the 34, the GTT's look like crap in my opinion but their GTR counterparts look great. So SAU, why don't you like the 33?
  5. Might need some more fuel before you go to Superlap The dash lights look great.
  6. I'm excited to see these blue dash lights. Do they use the same wedge type bulb as in the R33? What does the kit comprise of? Also wtf is with that civic??? thing in the background of your second post?
  7. What pisses me off is that Jessica Watson chick, why do I have to pay my good hard earned money for her welcoming party? Imagine how many police, security guards, portaloos, etc were hired for the event. I'm going to work out how much it personally will cost me and withhold it. But right now I have Becks and the people at liquorland must have left it in the sun for too long, it tastes flat -_-
  8. I'm up to the last episode. I thought the first 5 episodes were better than the last 5, or maybe that's just me. Still an awesome series. My birthday tomorrow, no longer in the teens.
  9. Black r32 GTR along gympie road this afternoon just outside chermside. I was sitting at the lights. Looked very clean
  10. Look at the wiring loom for the reverse bulb, is it the same as the left sides'? Previous owner may have broken something and just tapped it into another line.
  11. I replaced the battery and it fixed the problem for a few days then it went back to normal. My guess is the alternator is about to die; sorry about the late replies.
  12. I'm a p plater myself mate, I own an 05 Xr6. It's not turbo, but its got extractors, exhaust all the bells and whistles (for an N/A anyway ) One night I was out driving and it started raining quite heavily. I stopped at a set of lights which were at the top of a hill, and I was heading up it. I had turned the traction control off previously and had forgotten about it, trying to take off on the hill I had to give it a bit more than usual, the car spun the wheels up the hill and since it doesn't have an lsd you can only imagine. Picture a rowboat with only one oar. I nearly shat myself. I'm off my p's in a couple of months and I'm 20 years old and from my limited experience I can tell you now that you're a f**king idiot and you deserve to be donkey punched for saying that a P plater would have more control driving a gtr. The GTR doesn't have all the bells and whistles like new cars do, no airbags, no traction control. If things don't go your way in the wet, you're up shit creek. If you truly want the car, you will buy a subaru liberty and get saving. You are 17 years old at the moment. You haven't even finished school and probably still live with mummy. You need to experience financial independence before you can say you can afford to have an ever hungry money pit sitting in your garage. Another thing, police cars are fitted with a scanner that scans all the rego's of the cars going past. It checks the owners license for things like drink driving or expired license etc. What do you think is going to happen when you hoon past in your gtr on your p plates? Even if you're not displaying them, your name is still on the registration. Don't bother with an exemption. They are not going to grant an exemption to a 17/18 y.o for a gtr.
  13. Saw a black 32gtr along hamilton road around 5pm yesterday, was trying to catch up to you but the bloody sunday drivers were in the way.
  14. Saw two 32's, looked like a silver gtr and a black gtr going along south pine rd/old northern rd in albany creek around 9pm last night. I was at the shell refueling so I didn't get a good look.
  15. You could go in there and use "I drive a skyline" as a pickup line. Jailbait love that shit.
  16. I tried the suggestion you gave me (turning key to on and letting it sit for 5 secs) - didn't change anything car still does same thing. I will have a look at the AAC and TPS this weekend.
  17. I may be able to source one for you, I might have one lying around in the shop. If I find one, you can keep your card and I'll send you it for free.
  18. Hi guys I work at a computer store myself and if you have anything you're chasing I can more than likely order it in for you. I can also try my best to get you a good deal on anything you need. So if you're chasing something, shoot me a pm!
  19. He still has the MAF behind the pod filter, where is the air temp sensor located? I'm not sure if this will have anything to do with it, but when we changed the plugs a few days ago, there was a bit of liquid around the edges of where the plugs would sit, looked like watery oil? Possibly a stuffed head? Fiddling with the injectors and the fuel rail sounds out of my league so if it ends up pointing to that we'll take it to the experts. Car doesn't idle hunt, it did when he blew an intercooler pipe though. We've fixed that problem. As far as I know, turning the car off and then starting it again we still require use of the accelerator. I will also look at the throttle position sensor when I next get a look at the car. Thanks for the help so far.
  20. How can we test if the injectors are stuffed? Or is that something that a workshop would need to look at. I'll have a look at the cold start regulator, but it still does it when the car is warm so maybe not that. Worth a look though. What do you mean by making it hunt?
  21. G'day Friend of mine has an R33 GTST, recently he's been having issues starting it. Hot or cold, it does the same thing. Turn key, tries to start and doesn't. Turn key again, hold accelerator on and it starts. Idles fine and it's all go after then. We have: Changed spark plugs Changed the air filter Cleaned the MAF sensor Cleaned the throttle body Changed oil + water Replaced any hoses with small cracks (just in case) Now I've heard alot of cleaning the AAC valve, so I will give that a try next. I also plan to change the fuel filter but I'm not too sure that will change things. The other problem which may add to this is the alternator belt makes a loud squealing sound when the engine is cold, after it heats up it's fine. I haven't attempted to tighten this, someone else tightened it by simplying turning the nut on the front of the alternator but I wasn't sure if that was the way to do it or not. Other than that, I'm at a loss and I can't think what the problem could be. He's not too mechanically minded so that's why I'm posting it all up for him.
  22. They have indeed but you've gotta remember these are quite old cars now. Purchasing the car is one thing, insuring, day to day costs and replacement parts are another.. I am saving alot of coin for a chance to own a "godzilla" though. I would prefer to buy one from a SAU member for a bit more than an imported or stock dealer model - things would probably have been fixed up on it as well as a bit more poke than standard.
  23. Like any car dude, you've gotta look at it's condition not what the clock says. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/bu...e-f-t35129.html
  24. Black 32 GTR, seen you across the road from me on albany creek rd (I'm in the computer store) a couple of times.
  25. I'm specifically after a white R32. But I've seen a couple with that purpley/black colour on the 33's and I quite like that, but the missus doesn't I'd probably try and get a tastefully modded one and would probably start looking on here first.
