  1. Hi all, Chap I know is selling some Cusco sway bars/anti roll bars that he says are for r32 GTS. Now I want a set for my r32 GTR and would like to know if these will fit ok. I'm thinking yes since Cusco don't even list them for 32 GTS so I think they're GTR ones anyway. Please can someone confirm Cheers Ad
  2. Sorry for posting this in the wrong section should have been drivetrain....mods, feel free to move if you please Ad
  3. Hi all, Just need some opinions that's all. Since import my car has had an HKS ETC (Electronic Torque split controller) fitted to force it into whatever split of torque to the front wheels you want up to 50:50. Now I've never really used it and my 4WD has always been fine....torque gauge builds when I lose traction. Recently I have seen an intermittent problem...The 4WD light doesn't go out after then engine starts...either that or it comes on a coupla seconds after. Now this is irrelevent of the ETC which I hadn't used (well maybe once or twice when I first got the car). So this only happens sometimes but once it does, I have to turn the car off and leave it for a little while before I can start it again and get no 4WD light. I checked the error code on the ETS unit in the boot and get error 18 or "ETS pressure switch or circuit". I've checked the wiring and all seems well and fine (the ETC is obviously attached into the 4wd harness) but all plugs connectors seem fine. Fuses for the system are fine as well. Level of fluid in the boot is also A ok, sitting a little bit over the max line, even after ignition. Now here is the intersting thing that makes me think it could be the hydralic part of the system the ETS itself, dying..... On the instances where the 4wd light doesn't come on.... if I switch the ETC on, the torque gauge will build to the defined limit ok fior maybe 5 seconds then suddenly drops to zero and then 4wd light comes on. If it doesn't I can switch the ETC off and then on it definately drops to zero and illuminates 4wd. When this happens and I then drive the 4wd is off completely and I get no torque to the front. So does anyone have a solution, things I can check that I haven't ? Or do I need a new ETS pump...OR could it be something else broken....I've looked at some of the posts on here but nothing really answers it and there doesn't seem to be anyone who mentions and HKS ETC. The reason I suspect the pump is that it is only an intermittent problem though it IS getting more frequent AND the fact that on using the ETC it's almost like the system turns on builds the torque at the front but then fails and can't sustain it. Note though that if I turn the ETC on when the light isn't on I can hear the pump engage by the rear drivers side wheel. Once the light is on....nothing. Please help or ideas...sorry for long post Cheers Ad
  4. Hi Guys, Decided to buy a new set of Cusco topmounts for my HKS coilovers cos I think mine are knackered and the Cusco are good value and they don't do the HKS ones anymore. ANYWAY there are 5 different choices of topmount from Cusco, 2 of which are for the standard setup and 1 set are too big. The other 2 im stuck on...I don't know which will fit my coilovers... one is for internal spring diameters of 60mm and one is for 65mm so the main question is does anyone know what the internal spring size is on the springs that come with HKS hipermax coilovers ??? I have the original hipermax but I "think" these are the same as hipermax IIs. Please help :S I want to get these ordered and even HKS europe didn't know the answer Cheers Ad
  5. Well thanks for the replies guys will have a look at the allen key bolts but am probably just gonna change the topmounts for some cusco ones as long as I get the right ones to fit the hipermax.... Odd question I know but off the top of your heads anyone know the diameter of the springs on HKS hiermax coilovers? Cheers Ad
  6. Hi all, Knocking suspension I've had for a while is getting worse. Tied it down to the left hand front. Nearly every time I pull off now I get a clunk clunk sound. Not when I go over bumps or anything just when I pull off. So I read somewhere about the topmounts being loose. Tonight gone to the topmounts of my HKS hypermax and with a spanner tried to tighten or loosen the nut in the centre of the topmount...see pic...what happened was the entire thread turned aswell on both sides with the nut as if it were 1 complete unit. Is this correct ? Cheers Ad
  7. Hi all, This is my first post I'm from the UK and really need some decent advice about my 32 GTR. I'm a member of GTR OC and SOCuk but know that you Aussies know a hell of alot about GTRs and I need some experienced input... I've had a knock from the front for absolutely ages...it usually only happens when turning a corner or doing a 3 point turn or reversing into my garage...anything where full lock or say 3/4s is used. It also use to do it sometimes when I pulled off from a set of lights with some force in a straight line, it would be one dull knock that you could almost feel through the steering wheel I isolated the noise as coming from the front drivers side. Note if I pulled away gently it would be fine! This has been happening for months and various sources said it must be CV joints. It had originally split a boot and all the grease escaped for a while until I sorted it so this could have caused the joint to go bad. Now I bought some 2nd hand supposedly low mileage driveshafts from an importer who said they came of a low mileage car he was breaking (obviously been in a crash) so I got these shafts and my local mechanic fitted them.. 2 days later I notice the knocking again so not sure it ever went away. So now its doing it more regularly than before and this morning I was in traffic and was getting the dull thud noise 2 or 3 times quickly (sounds like a metal knuckle clicking sort of) whenever I gave it a bit of beans to catch up with the car in front. If I was gentle...no sound. This time it was coming from the passenger side only but it still knocks both sides when doing the 3 point turns etc. So has anyone got any ideas if it is still CV joints and the inner driveshaft joints. I don't want to replace the driveshafts again unless it's definitely that. I wondered if it could be the tie rod ends that bolt through the bottom of the hub, but having jacked the car up I could find no play in them. I also thought could it be the Anti Roll bar...but surely this wouldn't move much normally. I have whiteline droplinks on it anyways. Can people who know about these things please give me some ideas of what it could be or if it is CVs. It's none of the other suspension arms before anyone suggests, or the coilovers, they're newish and fine and the tension rods and upper arms have had the bushes upgraded to nismo items. + I can't find any play at all in any other suspension component. Please help it's driving me insane now Cheers Adam
