Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
MJTru replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Like you siad. It pretty close; bearing wise. I won't say it again, and the only reason im saying it. Is beacuse of 2 reasons. 1. I was cursed to have the ability to be able to try all of the above mensioned so called solutions. (I know this will bite me in the butt later for saying this) 2. The damn money to learn hard ass leasons that don't work. ( guilt for not realizing the reality fast, bandaid approach) I would like to add a 3rd!! To think that there is a holy grail thats, theres a solution most of all that would justify my own fulfillment of my own personal goel to ignore oem flaws. Now know how to fix it for the love of my own understanding, as to what to invest in, whiles asking myself is it worth it. ????. Sorry for my personal opions even if its not what most wants to hear. The rb motors are just flawed for the oil lubrication stand point. -

I had the same thing happened to me years back. SAME thing really left me worried that if enough oil hit that wheel at high speeds it could destroy the turbo. Thats why I asked. -

My opinions are based on reading. Reading the rich peoples approach. Both wet and dry. Funny how they started out wet and ended up dry. Thats the main pattern I see. -

That will not happen mate it will die. I have not personally experience that but just read like we do here and learn. Read peoples experiences and everyone saying that it will work. Bandaid repairs basically. Sorry im in the same boat as everyone else mate. After spending so much I just thought I would share my opinions. If you guys find away I agree make it work. But in my opinion your not finding a way your just prolonging the inevitable. -

By no means am I rich wouldn't even think so mate. Juat thought I would mention that. We all must come to the conclusion that these rb motors are flawed in this area. Just last night I came to terms wit it. Im not going to spend this kind of cash into a vechile and fight with oiling issue which is one of the worst ones you can have. Mind you I have read this whole thread and to date I own no rb motor that spits oil out. Rb26 that is. One of my old rb25's does it tho only if its over filled. But that just means the bottom end is starving or cavitating. I do have my cars set up when it comes to catch tanks and all with info I got from this thread and others. But my decision to go dry sump has nothing to do with a consensus. It just that I see way more benefits just building one dry sump setup in the coming future for my r33 gtr. I have been gathering parts for that build for years im almost done. Thank god I do all my own work or I would never be able to do any of this. So not rich here mate just work my a☆☆ off for the things I have or want. As for the champions anyone that owns a skyline is a champ in my eyes. I cant see sending more than 10k on a dry sump setup. In the past I looked it up and saw most of the stuff for like 6k. Thats missing a few things. For the ease of mind and all the additional benefits from what I see comes with dry sump setup I cant see why I would spend 25k plus on a build to not just go dry sump even if its just one of my cars. If the motor was to fail it wouldn't sit good in my head now spending the 25k and having to build again for 25k. I feel its worth it really. Im new to dry sump and have lots to learn about it. Doesnt seem to hard to set up tho. -

Found the solution:D:D:lol::lol::lol: Dry sump mate dry sump. All the way. Wow. Well no matter what if you get it all right. Its simply wont last. Read the hi octain r32 gtr arical great info. I will sell my bmw and buy my first dry sump setup http://hioctaneracing.com/blog/2010/11/19/the-reality-of-the-rb26-oiling-system-part-2.html -

Kml. Im just frustrated about it mate. Its seems like what im find out is some good info. Rbs sucks a## at returning the oil as the returns are only on one side of the head. 2zj has it if I remember right on both sides. From what I see it seems like ya just have to work out a very good system of letting it breath. Seems like its a big brething issue mate. Ill keep search on solution. I cant seem to find good photos of there setups from nismo. Like the way they plum the lines and catch cans. -

Enough to hit a tire and crash mate.?? For me I ant want no bit of oil in the catch can. I have went as far as putting those camshaft covers (oil splash) on all the cam caps. And beat the shit out the car. I was running a .9mm restrictor with n1 oil pump at 9k stock head. It was suicide I know. I dont care im out to find out for my self. Im reading some articles now on old nismo r32 track cars looking for clues. -

Hmm. Intresting. This oil issue is still hunting people out there. I have found oil control in the motor itself works with all the additional mods mentioned. I do drag racing and never put the car through a circuit racing. Im doing an experiment right now on a rb25. Im not thinking about this no more. Ive scrap up all my old parts greddy oil pumps that are still good and all different size resistors. Along wit some off the wall things like machining the block head and add a vent hole higher in this old block as high as I can go. We will see what happens. Hopfully I dont crash cause I have no circuits here. Im sick of hearing that skylines have this problem. -

Well the car has the power to spin up the tires all the way. We want a little more grip off the line so we can crank the boost. I personally dont drive the car mate but feel two thinks I can do here. Do more suspension work more squat but for the moment I raised the rear and used stock springs. But I moved the stock spring perch / seat as high as I could get it. I needed to do this to gain camber. I still dont have lots because we arnt running camber and toe arms as yet. There all stock. On one side I have -.8 camber and the other is -1.2. And the bolt cant adjust no more. But ill get it when the parts reach. We also running stock shocks. I need a shock with compression settings cant find them, but im looking now at the s14 240sx stuff as its the closet rear shocks if not the same. Im planing on having the total rear end travel be 2 inch. The car sits 15 inch from center of rear axle to the quater panel line. I may go up half an inch more and after im happy with the rear ill do the front. But ill use some bump stops to keep it within flat camber or no more that -.5 on launch so that way the contact patch stays around flat +-0 Its harder than it sounds mate takes lots of time and trial. Any suggestions im all ears mate. Bleach really Shit im going to the states for my work s1 wheels ill just get some VHT. -

My mate had to learn to drive the car all over again. With the tire and proper suspension setup (some what) the grip was insane for the street that is. He bog down at his first attempt and gave the race away to a supra. The car is on 18psi and if we can get a bit more grip. We are planning on uping it to 22. 1.5 bars. Is there any other home made liquid I can use that better than water to get the tires going. For burnouts. -

We still have alot to do. Last week we lost heads up to a 2jz supra. That wasnt a problem our problem is the car setup for launch. But lets say we know why the competition didnt show up today. Hats off to rickypr33 for a great by run basically. -
