Hey All, Just replaced my head gasket - minor leak timing belt and all other gaskets/seals on the endeavor. Now my engine will turn over but won't start. Have checked - Fuel - Def getting to rail and could smell fuel fumes in cylinder with spark plug out - Spark - Tested it grounded to manifold collector - Crank Angle Sensor - Tried rotating it incase of timing issue, no change. With no change. Any suggestions? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aufXXxhaR2o

Update: Started car up again about 5hrs after driving, problem came back! I am going to buy "start 'ya bastard" tomorrow and give a spray over all the joins and vacuums lines to check for splits. might also try cleaning the AAC valve although i doubt that is the problem. I had a mate think maybe ECU??

Standard 1.1mm gap Update: Reset ECU (held in brake and also left battery disconnected over night) started up perfect, did the daily drive and so far no probs. Fingers Crossed!!!!

Hey all, Just today my car went back to being it's old self, which isn't making me happy. It has started to misfire again, or what i believe is misfiring, i am worried in case it has dropped a cylinder or something bad! When the car is idling you hear a miss in the exhaust note (like a rotary/boxer effect) and the car wobbles. when you start to accelerate the wobble kinda goes away but it sounds like it is constantly misfiring. Now this has only just came back since i got the aircon re gassed (replaced condensor with 2nd hand item) and i haven't used the aircon in the car for abit over a year. Previously i had this issue, replaced spark plugs, coil packs with no luck, but then i replaced the ignitor module (2nd hand) and after idling for about 30secs it went to normal, and it would always misfire for a while, then after about 10 or so secs of idling it would go back to normal. Now its gone back to a terrible idle\drive and i am at my wits end with no ideas. also the tacho needle doesn't bounce, it stays steady under idle which i thought is wierd if it is a misfire. any ideas would be great! Thanks in advance! PS is it still safe to drive? it needs to be driven about 30mins in total everyday (2 x 15min trips)

I would guess that it would be a fuse. Have you checked all your fuses? inc engine bay? Pretty Rare that relays go but that would be my 2nd guess. The click might have been from a relay switching over then crapping itself.

My Feet Getting Hot After Driving My R32 For 20+ Min
cabbie_bro replied to Andrew_Lazzaro's topic in General Maintenance
Mine does the same, when the Climate Control is off i get hot air blown down at my feet. really annoying. -
I had an issue with my 5th cylinder. Replaced Spark Plugs and Coilpacks and it was still there, turned out to be my igniter module failing, i thought i was weird cause it was affecting just 1 cylinder, but it solved my problem.

I always have worked on my own cars, the only time one of my cars have ever gone to a mechanics/panel beaters is when i had a N14 pulsar and a nipple on the throttle body had a minor crack so i took it to where my mate worked and they welded on a new nipple for me and thats about it. Other than that it is me or sometimes i get a mate to help me out if i am stumped or need a extra pair of hands.

Installing Oil Catch Can - Need 2 Move Battery...
cabbie_bro replied to r32gtrv-spec's topic in General Maintenance
You can move the battery to the boot but you will need some sort of ventalation. like the 33's have the batteries boot mounted from factory and it has a small vent going out. apart from that don't have much to offer. you would need to run a positive cable up to the battery from the bonnet and then just ground it to a point in the boot. -

Help...r33 (gts-t) Not Running Right
cabbie_bro replied to cabbie_bro's topic in General Maintenance
Oh ok, i didn't cross my mind cause i changed the plugs (and yes correct gap) about 3 or so months before it sat for a while. I will def check em again, hopefully it is the issue and fingers crossed only a spark plug. was thinking electrical connectors tho cause it has been raining a bit here lately and very moist air (Darwin) Anywho i will give it a go and post my findings. -
Hey Guys, Just wanted opinions and ideas and to see if anyone has come across this issue. I haven't driven my R33 in about a month or so (company car) and the missus drove it last week and said it was "jumpy" when she accelerated. So i took it for a burn this arvo after work and it idles like it's a boxer/rotary. It seems to idle fine for 2 secs then sounds like a misfire for 2 then back to normal. When it accelerates under load (driving) it feels like it is mis firing and every so often i get a nice bang out the exhaust when i change from 1st > 2nd or 2nd > 3rd. I was thinking an intake issue, maybe air escaping from the FMIC Piping. The missus said before it wouldn't make boost when she drove it (or barely made it) but when i drove it it seemed it made boost maybe a lil below normal. When i decelerate and run down the gears while breaking it revs fine it only has problems when accelerating. Any Ideas??

From the pic it looks like an aftermarket item with the adapter welded on. jus need to find something to cover it. maybe weld a plate over it? for testing maybe a rubber cover and zip tie it on just to see. and just eliminate the vacuum hose running to the aftermarket item (a bolt in the end will do for testing)

are the dents deep? if they aren't deep then buy some filler or fibreglass strips and fix it yourself. then get it painted by a shop or a mate if they know how.

I dunno where you can get a new one, i just installed my new front bar and i didn't use those, i just got the clips from supercheap that have a square base and a round head (panel pack) so a screw can make a thread and just screwed it in. maybe you could try that?

Just try cleaning your AFM, as well as clean your plugs with electrical cleaner, won't hurt.

My two cents..... Yer somedays i feel like my 93 R33 with just under 90,000 on the clock (1st aus owner for 2 and a bit years and barely drive it) is getting old but then i look at all the gear it had standard and it is only just showing it self in other cars in that past what 5 or so years. The missus thinks i am nuts but i am actually thinking of going down to a R32 (she wants me to get a 34). But i tell you skylines will never go out, they are too good of a car. Long live the Nissan Skyline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I worked it out. For me it was blue - neutral, green - positive, black - negative.

Thermal Switch Install, Need An Opinion Asap
cabbie_bro replied to cabbie_bro's topic in General Maintenance
Thanks for your replies. I thought i was right. I want to use the relay for 2 thermo fans possibly in the future (may install a pull type too on the AC condensor). -
Hey all, I got a davies, craig thermal switch (tried to make one but too much effort) and the wiring harness that comes with it pre wired looks wrong in my opinion as to what the wiring diagram says. below is a pic of the relay and the link for the install guide. if you could tell me which pin is what on the relay that would be helpful. i think i know which is which but i would just like a 2nd opinion. http://www.daviescraig.com.au/documents/Th...nstructions.pdf The wiring harness that came with it has the [Red with fuse] on the middle pin, [blue] on bottom, [black] on the left and [green] on the right. Where as i think the [red] is on the bottom [blue] on one of the top two, [black] on the right and [green] on the left.
