To throw a spanner in the works: My 33 makes the same noise, did the clutch and bearing and it was still there. I gave my mech. a listen and he said 'that sound is the gearbox turning over when the clutch is out in neutral'. Sounds logical to me.

i got 265's and my 33 only puts down 140rwkw but with cheap ass tyres (falkens) i could break traction in second easily, rediculous. With the new bridgestone S03's its nearly impossible to break traction in second. So id say tyres would be the first thing to do.
Yep, I think its actually teeth broken off a plastic cog, or the cog is loose and just running over the teeth of whatever it turns. mine stopped a few weeks ago, must have built up enough dust and shit to block it
