Went to Nissan on saturday to get an oil filter. Checked the numbers and the filter I got and it has 'AU' on the end of it, whereas my previous one didn't, and had japanese writing on it. The other differences were that the thread was only half the length on it, it had a different seal, a round pre-oiled seal (not square edge dry), and a heat-shrink plastic cover over the filter, the japanese one didnt. Are these 'AU' filters crap? Should I just use a ryco from now on?
Also, I can't say weather the filter is more/less restrictive because I changed oil type/brand. Using motul 300v now and it takes alot longer to 'settle' to a solid oil pressure, i think its taking alot longer to heat it up, so the oil pressures on a cold motor are high for about 5-10mins. The oil pressure gauge is showing a more responsive oil pressure too so overall I'm happy with it.
