Was an immobiliser/alarm fitted since arrival in Oz? If so your starter probably won't work. If not, try changing the batteries then push the 'check' button whilst near the car. The headlights should flash on then off for 1/2 a second. Good luck!

Welcome Cozza The 4 wheels switch is "Syncro Mode" which locks the split to 50% front 50% rear The Snow switch is for driving in the snow funnily enough stops the wheels spinning and shit If you want a manual you'll have to sign up here http://www.jpnz.co.nz/afawcs0131170/CATID=...1/products.html and wait until 2015 like the rest of us... Don't see why not. Other JVC models Stagea owners have used recently automatically convert PAL to NTSC automatically so I see no reason why this one wouldn't. Good luck with it!

FAST gives me 2 Part numbers 84982-0v001 for 09/96 - 08/98 & 84982-0v000 for 08/98 - Looking at pics I'd say the series I number is for grey & Series II black. otherwise identical. -
