  1. What a great day - perfect weather! It was great to met you Pez and a great last session together! You almost caught that massive fish tail! Unfortunately, I discovered engine oil all over my engine bay after the last session. I think I may have overfilled the engine oil before the last session - the dipstick was not properly in its mount and engine oil was all over the underneath of the hood and the bay area around the dipstick mount... Dani.
  2. Yeah great day out (Nice meeting you Michele and co). I have been around Wakefield on my bike but first time in the Skyline. Had lots of fun re-learning the braking points (or more - when not to brake). Understeer in the final turn (11?) before the straight was a bit of a problem but I kind-of worked out a line that minimised this as much as possible. My Skyline has pretty standard suspension apart from some Whiteline swaybars so I am thinking of doing a bit of tweaking with some springs and shocks before going out next. My brakes held up well with a set of ferodo pads and DBA Gold grooved discs on the front. By the way, I got pulled over for a defect inspection (masquerading as a breath test) on the way to the track in the morning. Fortunately I have kept my mods as street-legal as possible (enclosed pod, factory blow-off valve) so the officer was pretty friendly and let me off with a warning about the adjustable boost controller.... nice guy and even gave me directions to Wakefield. Hope to see you guys again at the next Wakefield date (is that coming up soon?). Dani.
  3. Hi Guys, For anybody with a big wing on their skyline, you may have what I had - the guilotine bootlid from hell. You open up your boot, and apprehensively reach in to grab what ever you need, knowing at any moment, that 10kg fibreglass wing laden boot could come crashing down on top of you. And all because your gas struts are worn. I went down to Nissan to ask how much it would be to get some new ones from Japan, and they quoted me $360. But the nice man behind the counter in a whispered voice advised me that I could just get them re-gassed for a lot cheaper... He gave me the number of Ming Kuang - 0418 200 289 / 0412 888 671 - "Gas Strut Direct"., a mobile gas strut repairer. I called Ming who turned up at the agreed time. He removed my old gas struts and firstly tried to re-gas them. One was able to be re-gassed successfully, but the other wouldnt come back - its seal was too far gone. So Ming advise me that he could replace both gas struts with some heavy duty aftermarket ones. I wont say what he charged me on here (call him for a quote), but suffice to say it was significantly less than what Nissan wanted.... So if you are like me, scratching your head about what to do about your executioner-style bootlid closure, try giving Ming a call. He gives great honest service at a very reasonable price. Dani.
