  3. Cheers for the advice, I'll take it to the workshop tomorrow. Should post results of installation late Monday. Keen to see how Splitfires stack up.
  4. Will be placing Splitfire DI coilpacks in my R34 GTT on Monday (04/04/05). Just looking for info on re-gapping my spark plugs to suit. With the addition of the Splitfires I’d like to take full advantage of any available power/torque gains. As far as I know, a new gap of 0.9 should be okay, i.e. not to wide to provoke misfire yet wide enough to get a bigger spark and see some kw gains. At the moment my plug gap is somewhere between 0.6 or 0.7. My plugs are NGK double platinum and in pretty good condition last checked. I’m running stock boost (8 – 9 psi) with mods as listed below: - 3” turbo back exhaust - Apexi Pod filter - HKS SSQ BOV If anyone has any experience here let me know if I’m on the right track.
  5. Had my R34 GTT on dyno when it was stock to get an accurate KW & boost reading ( the boost gauge isn't always that accurate). I can verify my stock 34GTT ran apx 8 psi on boost most of the way, a little over at its peak. Motorman: You also seem to be in the same dilema as I am. I currently have pretty much the same mods as you. When I consulted my local workshop intrested in upping my boost I got the same response as those who have posted here. The general consensus was not to overstep the 10 psi mark to be safe. As far a bleed valves go (no matter how good) there is the possibility to spike at least 1 or 2 psi on boost. I know some bleed valves these days are a lot better and more consistent, but I'll wait till down the track to start telling my boost what to do. I'll have to get my boost checked since adding mods. But I think (for mine) at the moment running somewhere betwen 8 & 9 psi is enough for now. At least not worth winding up yet. As an example: HPI's project R34 GTT didn't take that long to blow a turbo on the track at 1 bar. I'll have to watch the HPI video again to be sure (can't remember what No.). As a side note: I'll be posting the results of adding Splitfire DI coilpacks to the mix of mods on Monday. Good thread, cheers.
  6. I've recently ordered for the first time from nengun as well. My order has taken longer than expected by about three weeks. Initially I was made aware by nengun to expect a two week delay, however another three weeks later on top of that and had no word. My order was paid and placed by about the 25th last month and only yesterday changed from 'Processing' to ‘Complete’: meaning I'm waiting for my EMS tracking # once it leaves the shores of Japan. I hounded Nengun with inquires for a while with no response back. I can only suggest you try the same? As I understand it, most of their correspondence is automated. For all intensive purposes I haven't been worried about not receiving the order and can't complain about the deal I'm getting. just a bit miffed with the customer service side of things. Ordered parts from Japan a few time from different companies and had to wait longer than expected for all (inc. car). Waiting definitely sucks, best of luck with it.
  7. I'm always up for a variety of cars turning up to any meet (special props to 31 owners here), more the merrier. It would be a good idea to either join an existing (ie. Wed night cruise) or organise a cruise with everyone involved, just as long as those with 34’s make an effort to turn up. I don’t see much merit in a sticky thread as ‘strutto’ pointed out it is easier to keep track of and organise meets/cruises with a new thread. . I personally can’t guarantee consistent involvement in a fortnightly event due to other commitments I have. Now, in reply to those having a ‘dig’ at the thread: As for everyone who’s having a cry about the ‘34’s only’ thread. Yes, this thread (as it is clearly titled) is largely intended for 34 owners, (obviously) not to say anyone with an interest can’t post up their 2c . As I stated before this in this thread it was intended to lend some help to those with 34 models and (strangely enough) offer a “FORUM” to discuss mods/workshops and parts for 34’s as they differ in certain areas to other models and can also respond differently to mods. I was trying to encourage 34 owners to post thoughts/meet up and be able to discuss their cars at a venue some time in the future. If your in doubt about my intentions of this thread for 34’s, read earlier posts and quote were anyone has said meets should be ‘34’s only’, in fact only posts to the contrary can be found. I’m personally happier with a variety of rides at any meet. In any case, you can shoot me for hoping some 34’s could get together. If you want to see this thread as some ‘elitist group’ and not turn up to events, then fine, you got it wrong – that’s your problem. I’m not going to try and explain this thread again to those who want to complain. People, pull it together. Personally I’d rather be bitching about tax on beer, shite import laws and speed cameras. I thought we were open to better discussions than whats been going on. Happy Skylining everyone.
  8. In reply to R34GTX: I purchased my 34 in late May 2003. Due to my brokers initial delays in getting an import approval my car’s approval and compliance was handed over to a guy on the Gold Coast to take over and the car I think landed in November of that year. Late '03 early '04 the government still needed to compile data on the 34 model and my car was sent to Ford HQ in Victoria to be measured and photographed to ensure 34’s met ADR standards for wheelbase, driving height, suspension etc…(apparently some of the photos in the SEVS 34 manual are of my car – Hooray for me) At that stage the Government still needed side intrusion tests and were importing a 34 to smash it; so I still had a wait on my hands as test results and analysis weren’t going to be overnight. To cut a long story short; after over 12 months of waiting and shit from my mates for supposedly being ‘duped’ into buying an imaginary car; my 34 was officially plated on the 02/06/04. As I understand it, a guy in Sydney complied the first 34 in Oz a month or two before mine. The company on the Gold Coast (Iamshe) who complied my car told me they were the only workshop at the time in Qld with 34 plates, hence it was the first 34 in Qld to be plated. It might not be the first, it doesn’t really matter. The car was hand picked by Mark Hocking in Japan to be a test R34 under the new SEVS laws, so at the end of the day I received a stock 34 with an honest 50K km’s in excellent condition. It was complied with every ‘i’ dotted and every ‘t’ crossed and underwent the scrutiny of three DOTARS inspectors sent up from Canberra.. Thankfully now my 34 sits registered and insured in my garage and I love every minute of driving it (exceptions when misfiring – soon to be eradicated). As anyone who has/is impoted/ing will testify; importing can be an absolute bitch. For most who have finished the journey its totally worth it (even 12month of waiting). If people are still keen to meet up, I’m looking at a time after Easter; maybe a Monday night (I hate Mondays, so it would a least a break the sad routine). I 'm not asking for 34's only, drive your mums corolla if you need to, but it'd be nice to get some 34's along. Post your thoughts Some pics of my pride’n’joy.
  9. Wasn't trying to exclude any other skyline, hence the call for a "34/Skylines" meet; I was meaning for anyone to be interested could turn up yet I was hoping to have a R34 focus as there seem to be some more around these days and a few are the way. As 34’s have a few differences with earlier models; modifications and accessibility of parts can also differ. I thought it would be a good chance for 34 owners (old and new) to get together to pass on info and check out different mods. And to add to the 32, 33, 34 debate: Simply all Skylines rule. I was initially looking forward to getting a R33 until I was offered a great deal on my 34. I don’t see any whale resemblance at all with the R33. In fact I am yet to see a whale pull 180Kw on a dyno. Boiled down, each model can find its own merits over other modles. Its not a debate worth waging. Just thought it would be a good to get some rarely seen 34’s together. Sorry if anyone was feeling excluded by the post I put up it wasn’t meant to be the case.
  10. Some help and info for new (and old) 34 owners. Out of this thread I hope members can post notes on mods/pics and organise another R34/ Skyline meet. As everyone knows it’s a great way to compare notes and chew the fat. Just been reading Firefrog’s thread on 34 mods and the post on the 34 cruise. Spewing I missed the cruise as I have only just got back from overseas. Seeing there's a few new 34's on their way to Vegas and some already here I thought I'd lend my 2c worth on the topic. I have probably the first 34 complied under the new SEVS laws in QLD. It was almost the first in Oz but as we all know delays with importing go hand in hand. The point I'm getting to is that I have been in the exact position most new 34 owners are in now (ie. totally stock 34 with a view to modify). I had to wait twelve months for my car to arrive, so by he time it did arrive I had done my fair share of research on 34 mods and insurance etc, before I started handing over my hard earned dollars. As with most things; a good plan is can help you save $ and stay on track to a final goal (sorry if I sound like a textbook here). I have had some good ups and downs with my ride so far and although I'm no expert I'll do my best to answer queries if anyone has any. So far I have been around to a few workshops and dealt with various parts peddlers. My car has had some noticeable gains in power / handling / and entertainment with what I've done yet it’s still a manageable daily driver (so far). I have from the beginning kept a record of rw Kw power output in relation to my mods and look to be documenting another dyno run in a few weeks. I'm a bit coy on the power output at the moment as I have some ignition problems which is why I have parts on order. (Mod list below) But for my 2c worth to all the new 34 owners out there: For those out there on the beginning of the modifying trail. The best thing to do is drive your standard 34 around as much as you can before submitting to your modifying cravings. Iron out any creases you have (ie surfacing problems) before any mods and get a good feel for your car in stock trim. You'll understand your car more and appreciate your mods a lot more when you’re finished. I have had a great time with my 34 so far, as will you; welcome to the club. With all modifying when it comes down to the crunch its all a matter of taste, dollars and (at least in the beginning) simple mechanical principals. Know what you want to achieve with your car first and move on from there. In my case a daily driver with better handling (low and tight), great sound in/and out (loud and louder) with a good mechanical platform of power to build from (better suck and blow airflow). My car is still pretty tame in a ‘modified sense’ but it’s a champion to drive and kicks hard when I want it to. I researched, compared and had quoted every part on the car and have the satisfaction of knowing I chose every part on the car (good or bad). In the end not every piece on my ride is the best on the market but dollars wise the money was spent where I thought it would count (ie. you may find a better aftermarket 3” front/dump pipe than mine but for $250 it shits on the standard set up and is can be half the cost of others). For the most part my goal with my modifications is to allow me to continue to add power with out having to upgrade the same modifications a second time. Anyway enough of that; I woudn't mind talking to those who've done the Power FC and FMI with their 34's and I'm keen to check out some of the other 34's around to compare mods and results etc... So if people are keen to meet up again – post up your reply. 11. Squizz - saw you again on the way to work. Gave you the customary Skyline wink and a nod. See you round
  12. Have you sold it? I'm in Brisbane and am interested, Is this off your own car? Do you have the controller?
  13. If you're going to break the kit up, how much for just the side skirts? PM me if you want.
  14. eharrald - some photos of your set up would be sweet.
  15. Had my 34 done on the Gold Coast by 'Iamshe' this year. The guy who runs it is Phill White (07) 5571 7133. They might be booked out, as they do a lot of work for dealers. Worth a try. Good Luck with it.

    Quote's??

Me: Evening officer. Cop 1: Clocked you at a 136k's back there mate. Do you know street racing is illegal in this state? We're allowed to confiscate you vehicle for 24hrs. Me: What? Cop 2: Is this a Skyline mate? The start to my weekend away at Byron. Yippeee
  17. Would have to think you were getting a better unit for $300 extra. Just thought it is an affordable option to upgrade from standard. Might bust the bank and get some heat wrap.
  18. Have ordered a 3" front and dump pipe for a R34 GTT and the same for a R33 GTS-T from Flying Performance in Sydney. They are mandrel bent mild steel with a "baked-thermo coating". They're made vehicle specific and are a straight bolt on item. Have not seen the build quality yet as the order arrives early next week. From the reviews I've head from other people their stuff is pretty well OK and gives a noticeable improvement in performance. They claiman increase between 2 & 4 psi depending on existing boost pressure. At $250 each I thought it was worth a try. If you're intrested I'll post a review after install.
  19. Have had a poke around myself for the same thing. Stumbled on Cross Factory in Japan on the web the other day. The site's in Japanese, but you can find your way around (link's below). They have a blue GTT with a wide body kit and GTR front bar. The only hint its a GTT is by the almost standard GTT bonnet with the front lip. The only othe wide body kit option for a GTT I know is adapting a GTR body kit. A guy in Jakarta fitted a Do Luck/Top Secret/Custom kit that looked awsome. He fitted super wide carbon kevlar guards and half the car was plasted with carbon fiber panels and skirting. Massive guards and massive fat rims, my all time fav GTT - Fckn awsome. It featured in Autosalon Magazine (Issue 14) last year. The thing is that you can do it with JDM parts or customised work but its going to cost you big dollars either way, plus you then have to buy the rims to fill the bigger guards. Not an easy task, good luck, let me know how you go. Check the photo attached http://www.cross-factory.com
  20. Sorry guys these offers are still too low. Dosen't come close to covering the cost of the rubber thats basically new. P.S. The wheels are silver, as pictured on the car.
  21. Offers are welcome.
  22. See Nismo GTT wing attached.
  23. Bryanlee38 - I have a guy lined up at the moment who will paint and fit a genuine GTT wing for $400. So have started looking at some alternatives. At the moment I pretty happy with no wing at all so I wont be making any offers (sorry). Am looking for a nismo style GTT wing (similar to standard wing except with metal struts). Anyone know someone who wants to offload one? I know you can buy one from Nismo Japan but thats out of the question. I'll attach a photo in a new post.
