Richieb replied to Assasin's topic in Events Archive
Hey, I gotta go on this bash. Strike me one will ya. Yeap GT-R32 GMG. 1 car, 1 pilot. -
Yeah, I was there, but wondered what happened after we came back thro city. Last I saw was heading(flying) toward Parramatta Road, heading back to the orig meeting point. .........then I got left behind, so I was just curious what happened next.

Guess I have to say it................. LOAAAAAAAAADZZZZZZZZZ last night on P'matta Rd, city bound. Heehehe..!

Granville Tuner Matter Resolved. Thanks For All Your Support
Richieb replied to Dominic's topic in New South Wales
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....!!!! Familiar noise to many methinx..! Tuners and broken bits. I think we nearly all have a yarn on this subject. Like they say, performance tuning is a dodgy business. One thing to remember tho... does the boss know all the happenings. I think the best way is to give them a "fair go" at sorting it out with a friendly approach, and no ranting. Just "imo", from an outside view, unbiased, but learned..! $0.02 worth.. -
I just changed both of mine, and I coughed $127.00 for each one. I tried others, and I found they were about 5Cm short. This discovery was made the first time I attempted to fit the pattern ones on the ramp. D'oh! I think it might be hard to get good pattern ones at good price. Alll the motor factors I visited in the first place all swore on their parents they were perfect copies too..! Still,... the ones from Nissan have a new castellated nut in a new size too. .... Wooooooo-Hoooo (less $254.00)

She's a cool chick mate. I remember her shoutin' somethin out of your window, but I was still slightly deaf havin followed one of the Red 33's thro town..!, Snowy was still in her happy place when I left 4 workies tis morn'.(alright for some eh?) Think I got nearly 2hrs sleep too..!!!, decided to do some revision, then it was 05:48..!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh..!! Work @ 9Am.... home just now... Ah well, sleep when am dead I suppose..! Failed to get to training wheels, as I was running late, so mine is still at 60%. I guess one day I might get her back in tune again(someday). Its incredible when ya loose power after having it at ones disposal... kinda feel like opening the door to let the clutch out.! WHEELS ( I mentioned them to ya in Maccas). I off to see them tomorrow morning, is there any other bits ya need, or should I get pics first? I guess we all enjoyed it, and "assasin" did a kewl job under the pressure... I can't remember who was in the Red R32, but last time I saw ya all, I was shadowing him to make sure all was ok..... last seen flying through traffic lights at end of George St... his trajectory appeared to be 'Matta road. Left me for dead at the lights!! Anyways, I hope he got home OK, 'cos he was havin a bitch of a job getting away from the Lights on George st. Later on, I encountered another fellow 'liner on 'matta road in a black 33(kinda lost too!), we chatted briefly, and he shot homeward. Pics!! would have been good, I was at the back of the "suaree"(not sure of the collective noun for Skylines!!), ... and the sight of all those "round reds" was amazing. From the position I was in, the roads were dominated by the Skylines, and it turned quite a number of heads in town for sure. My shotgun (Snowy), even tho' un-educated in the 'finer art' of Skyline piloting never stopped going on about it. So, for sure, iiiiif she's in the same seat next time, she can be head of "Video and Photgraphy". IT HAS GOT to be slapped on YouTube for sure. SOoooo, out of curiosity, what happened after George St ?
-
Well it's 3 AM, and am back..!! BIG THX to all, I enjoyed it, and equal to organiser, well done mate, difficult task that one... City on Friday night..!! Kinda lost evry 1 in Sydney at the end. So... I headed to 'matta road where I thought we were returning to, but no one there... Next time......... BTW,.... the line of 'lines looked cool, ya should have seen it. p.s., Hope the red R32 got home ok, he had a stuffed clutch, and had a night-mare on George st..!! pps, Interesting colour is "lilac..!!!", 'ope ya get to work ok in da mornin'.

Genuine Consult Port Connectors (& Pins)
Richieb replied to MearCat's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
If you have a diags or DTC prob, I have the equipment to read/diag/clear that fits Skylines. Sounds like ur car has a problem, if i am not correct? If you live near, I will plug it in to ur car if it helps?. Rich. -
How Do You Check The Health Of Your Coil Packs ?
Richieb replied to Munkyb0y's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ya can go to wrecker for 3 of them for sure. I would think that these marks are not good for HT circuits. They could be carbon'd up, or worse still, allowing tracking to ground along/over them. Mate, change them out, they look tired..!, and from the pic, I am sure I can see a mark where it is arcing. Your call as to what with tho. I stuck with Orig items, some swear by Splitfires, and now theres the JJR ones. Depends on budget, and how you would like to progress, but all offer warranty... even from a wreckers. -

R32 Gtr Lumpy Idle Help Needed Please!
Richieb replied to Japtastic-UK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hmmm, I reakon you should nipping all the little pipes with a pair of pliers to see if this changes any RPM. Sounds air-leak-sh to me. If buttefly's are closing correctly, its prob the cause then. Just back-off all the adjuster screws for them. If I remember correctly there are 3 of them on the throttle body's, and one on the top where the cable attaches to the pulley.make sure they snap-shut correctly. Also check the little pipe that is near front of LHS of plck(has a 80 degree bend in it is not leaking or perished. But my attack would be nipping all pipes with pliers, as it sounds.. by the RPM, its a small pipe dis-lodged, not sealing or cracked. Just try this first, get back to us. -
I know on RB26, there are a few little adjustment screws on the butterfly's(Uh!!). I ripped mine out, but I an using aftermarket ECU. that way all the "Flaps are shut as far as, then I just used the master one on the throttle cable mount to regulate it so the ECU could get a grip with it all again. It worked..!

R32 Gtr Lumpy Idle Help Needed Please!

Has anyone considered the O-Rings on the Injectors as a cause yet???. These are pesky little critters, and they have you thinking all-sorts... !!! Make sure ya get the right ones.. for instance the ones on my Sard Injectors are slightly longer(as such). one didn't seat correctly, and whammo..... had me foxed for a while. As, is said, carby cleaner around the whole are does not isolate the problem, it just shows "Roughly" where it is. p.s. check the silly little pipe at the end of the plenum is connected, and will hold a vacuum, as this could be damaged too!!(it happened to me) -

On the balance of probability... Yeap, sounds like you have a duff one in there... it did the same to me, then it progressively gets worse...!!! Buy a good one from a breakers, and substitute it in, eventually you will find it, but look at the top electrode of the plug to see if it blackened or burned away. If you spot one, i'll lay odds its that coil thats giving you the trouble. -
C'mon Guy'n'Gals, this bloke is personalising his ride, and fair play to him here. Ya gotta be honest in a lot of cases, people fit things that are purely cosmetic because they like them and want to fit them. Rarely will these items actually serve any real purpose.... but that's the way it is. How many people fit tyres that are a waste of money in practice, how many people do you hear in WRX's that have turbo timers, etc, etc, etc. It sounds/looks good in the opinion of the beholder. I think the question was, as is thrown into the ring... "what are your opinions?", so a asasination was not called for in such ferocity. Yeap, in all cases there will be pro's and con's, but I think we should try to be a little less personal, and just offer our opinion only. IMO. Customising/Personalising is the word, but yes, if you don't want to hear the negatives, then don't write it in a forum. BUT..!!!, what would we be without opinions. ....Good post, it got some ideas rollin', the spirit of forums is alive..!! There, that's 4cents now..!!

Plug change is a good idea, as, imo, there is nothing to gain apart from hi-Km's from them... but who would trust that part. Got to admit, I had a little doubt at first when mine was fixed..!! The cotact springs should be securely/firmly in contact with the top of the plug at all times, as a small gap will very quickly erode the contact, and cause the HT to look for an easier route to ground..... usually via a dust covered route, or imperfection elsewhere. Anyway, like I said, and it is good advice to all here... "There is no substitute for cleanliness around HT". Happy drivin' mate, enjoy. -
I think... it will be driven from the ECU, but not entirely sure tbh. I have been looking at one prob on a Lexus, which has done the same, so we are borrowing a ECU to prove the point. One note tho.. is that if the HT side is shorted to ground,, i.e. not got a gap to jump, it will fry the primary side. The LT side runs usually around 0.7ohms, so current drain will be high. Have a look to see how much it is actually taking via a scope or decent DVM every pulse.
-
Ouch..!! Maybe it is the "trigger" to the coil-pack that is holding current to the coil for too long.? Saw it on a Trans-am last week. It was the module, which fried the coil pack at the same time.... Or Nissan DID get the right coil??
-
Now that's a class car mate.... built like a sherman tank. No one will cut you up in that!!

BTW(again) Make sure the spring/carbon contact is well in contact with the plug electrode. You'll hear it make a "Springy-creak" as it presses hard on the top of it. Did you note any plug top electrode burned at all, 'cos I rekon you'll find that that coil is NFG, or at leas weakened, which will show once you crank-up the pressure at around 5000 RPM. see a dip in the dyno chart, or an odd change in exhuast note about then, and it is pretty certain one is down. -

No worries Tony, a skyliner in need, is a mate. Defo use a plug in there, as it will allow the HT to find another route to dis-charge!! Be sure to allow the Silicone to cure fully before lighting them up again though. There should be a strong blue spark at the plug tip, with a clear clicking noise, as it tracks to ground through the plug outside casting when you turn the engine over. If it can be avoided, never attempt to fire the car without a good track for the spark to ground, it will wreck the coil insulation for sure by finding an easier path. Last info was .7 as a gap goes. Mine would not run well even on 14psi, it mis-fired and all noises. I noted it was a little "iffi" if I listened hard enough on idle, but this was very hard to distinguish. Usual driving pressure made it show its problem about 4500-5000 rpm in second and third. It manifested itself as a quite distinct "Hic" at first, and then had fits of splattering all over the place. I actually got to a stage of shutting the boost down to waste-gate pressure at one point, as it was getting progressively worse through the night. From 24 psi to nothing in one evening..!! -

BTW, be careful with use of the silicone, as it will track if it isn't allowed to dry/cure completely. once it tracks, it tracks forever. You have to be sure of its chemical properties, and whether it has a stated di-electric strength. I still believe there is no substitute for cleanliness when it comes to HT voltages. Make sure the crap that has built up over the years inside the plug cap/former from grubby oily fingers when holding the plugs before installing them has been removed/cleaned also. This has a habit of baking and carbonising, leading to tracking/arc path.
