  1. Clearly I am behind the times... I blame it on the person who sent me that email!! See, all this damn studying for exams has made me officially brain dead.
  2. .... Random My computer has been acting up recently and I feel I can relate to the following . Thought I would share it For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on. At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part): 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash........ Twice a day. 2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this. 4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads. 6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light. I love the next one!!! 7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying. 8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again beca use none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.
  3. ACA and TT: what a joke. I think that both of these programs are running out of material. Its just getting pathetic. I refuse to watch them anymore. Waste of time.... Stories like: "I invested all my money in this [scam], they told me it was completely risk free and I would get 100% return" Please, and then they wonder why they lost their money. If it happened to me, I would hide under a rock, not tell all of Australia how stupid I was that I actually believed that its 'risk free'. (High return=high risk) ...Lets show people how to commit a crime, or the neighbours from hell. Waste of time!
  4. Statistics show that there is an increased likely hood of having an accident when speeding. Its black and white. It doesn't only come down to the control factor- what if the car hadn't been maintained, wasn't roadworthy etc. These factors would only compound the likelyhood of an accident. The fact that his g/f was in the car- frankly she is the brainless one who allowed him to speed. I'm sure she could've opened her mouth if she wasn't comfortable. Dumb x2. People make choices- sadly they are not always the right choices.
  5. Same! Most girls just don't get it. On the same line though, half of the guys I talk to have no ideas either. I remeber buying a car from a guy at work (an engineer) he told me the starter motor was stuffed... Hehe----> All that was wrong : flat battery! Makes you wonder hey??
  6. Hehe thats funny. Sounds like when I was at my last placement (oil and gas company), it was very male dominated so when the girls got together we went off on a tangent. Once we ended up talking about washing powder. We then sorta looked at each other and laughed realising that this was an odd conversation here - it wouldn't have happened if there was any male in sight Rare moment!
  7. It might be a bit too far in advanced (Oct). Most people don't know where they will be next week let alone in a few months time. But it's a good thing to get in early! If I get my next car in by then (fingers crosses!) I'm keen-----> I'll pencil it in
  8. I started saving early too- thank god too coz I doubt I could do any saving thru uni! I would be v. hesitant about taking out a loan...
  9. Well Im yet to go on a cruise, but I bet I'd be feeling old too! (22) I feel so old and at the same time feel that I should have done soooo much more with my life by now!! But thats life hey...
  10. Cheers. She is my pride and joy
  11. Spotted a white 33 on Portrush rd today about 3pm I think. Got a wave (thought i'd better take out the gtr for a change since I'm back in town)
  12. You should also report him to the ACCC- I think once they have a number of reports they start an investigation. Its worth a try, they may already have something on him too....
  13. Nano-technology Gasoline Saving Pad -stick underneath the petrol tank. Its nano-particle can activate and modify petrol’s positive and negative ions, in order to increase combustion dynamicity. That sorta sounds believable...the combustion dynamics stuff I just wonder if the benifits outweigh costs... If it infact does what it claims.
  14. Good ol' Adelaide Uni The Adelaide Uni Eng students have the Biggest pub crawl in Adelaide- so thats what swayed my decision. Haha Nah, I was thinking about doing mining eng at Mawsons but I got a better TER than expected so I opted for Adelaide. I'm finishing up this yr...
  15. I’m sceptical too!!! these engineering students are always coming up with some new ideas that 'work'. I'd be more inclined if there was some data behind it... or maybe if someone credible had tried it It doesn’t hurt to ask though
  16. Ah true, true! By the way has anyone heard of: "Nano-Technology Gasoline Saving Pad + Auto Booster This set of items can save up to 30% of fuel, boost horsepower and many many more. Very easy installation." I found it on a notice board at uni... Has anyone tried it?
  17. Charming topic of conversation *cringe*
  18. I went through regency with braided ones with that tag on em and I got through, no probs. That was about a year ago- I don't know if things have changed...
  19. I don't know if you would get a defect for any of them, however I guess its up to the discretion of who ever decides to pull u over. One way you could go about it tho is get an engineers report... thats what I did with my old car and I had no problems!
  20. Well I can't find a trade plate... to put it more correctly, some one bailed on me!!!! So its a no go 4 me- and i was actually looking foward to the drive... TYPICAL
  21. Im keen for some details- it will just be a matter of timing for me.... and finding a trade plate:)
  22. I'm completing a double of Chemical Engineering and Finance *sigh* finally on my last year There is plenty of work out there but I always worry that I wont find a job! A lot of companies have great graduate programs. I'm think minerals proc/mining or oil & gas... At the moment I'm happy to move away or stay in SA...
  23. I might look into it, if I can find a car and if I'm in town Too many ifs I think.... Does anyone know about entry deadlines??
  24. I'm still in weekend mode, I guess thats good and bad! Stayed in melbourne from wed-sun courtesy of a big oil company (for an interview) 5 star hotel on Southbank, dinners, wine, it was great Just found out I have another interview with another company in Perth- yay- I haven't been to perth yet. I can't wait. I'm over the moon at the moment!! All these interviews and I'm still not sure if I'll get a job... ?? Any tips ??
