  1. A bosch 040 isn't a straight swap either - you will have to do some bending and or cutting of the pump bracket. If you want a straight swap the nismo ones will fit straight in, or a GTR pump (i think). I ended up using a walbro one which fit onto the original fuel pump/cradle - not perfectly, but without permanently modifiying anything. If you do end up deciding on an 040 though, I have a brand new, unopened, one for sale...
  2. I just want to thank the people who have contributed to this thread (if they're still around) - helped me solve my a/c probs. My prob was the intake air temp sensor as well (determined using diagnostics, got a temp of -30 deg). Ended up putting the 2k resistor in as dave the mechanic suggested and that gave a permanent reading of 26 deg. The thing i noticed with this prob is you can never get the a/c compressor to engage unless you jump the relay in the fuse box, or in diagnostics mode you can get it to run on step 4 - when no. 42 is displayed on the screen. Even on FC it would not engage though. Hope this might help someone else in the future...
  3. If you could only have one, what would it be?
  4. Jeffs car was (relatively) fine, he even ran it the next day, in 2wd mode i think... Reason he hasn't been running it lately is due to the ongoing costs I believe... running Street's SSS pulsar in the short term was a better option.
  5. Haha, you mean this one? I think he gets the prize... (not my photo)
  6. Another Flamin' Skyline...

  8. Yeah the R32 ABS is rubbish - you will stop better without it if you know what you are doing. On the other hand, doing 110km/hr on the freeway in rain, i'd rather know the ABS is there for that situation. Not sure, but it might be possible to set up a system so you can turn it on or off depending on road/track etc. use.
  9. Thanks for the replies guys; I knew the standard turbo wasn't great but it seems everyone's blown one up at some stage... H@ME- Dunno about using two halves to make one whole - I had a go at getting mine apart and seemed like it was going to be pretty difficult. Once you do have both apart tho, getting it all back together, and balanced etc. could be tough. They spin at massive rpms so unless its perfect its just going to go boom again. You'll need to consult a pro i think... SkyDragon - Looks good, dunno if I wanted to go to the extent of a 2530 as I figured it might be too laggy. What RPM do you need to be pulling to get full boost with one of those?
  10. Had my standard RB20 Turbo fail the other day at a speed off the streets day at Wakefield, so I thought I'd share the pics/info so you gurus might be able to tell me how/why. It was the second session of the day and had been running beautifully up until then; going up pit straight, pulled 4th gear at about 7000rpm, power back on, then all of a sudden the power just disappeared... I cruised around and realised the engine was still running fine, then realised it had to be boost. Brought it into the garages to check hoses and cooler pipes etc. but there was no sign of a leak, so I started to fear the worst. Trailered the car home (phew, good decision to trailer it there in the first place) and yesterday got into pulling it apart. Now have the turbo off, and here's the result... hmm, this side all looks good.... Otherside - damn, thought I left a turbine wheel in there... The weird thing was I didn't even hear a noise when it went, although to be fair it was fairly loud in the car at those revs, at that speed, with the windows part way down. Anyway, before that happened I'd always had a slight oil leak from the intercooler, and during a previous track day it was blowing oil out of the BOV. The same was happening the morning that this happened. I'm starting to think it was faulty for a long while and the oil was running out of the turbo and pooling in the cooler, only to be blown out at high boost. Thoughts? I'm running an electronic boost controller that is set at 11 or 12 psi, so I wouldn't have thought this slight increase in boost would have done it, especially on a nice cool goulburn day... So, my next step is to decide what to replace it with - do I get another rb20 turbo and possibly have the same thing happen again? Or should I go to a rb25/high-flow rb25, GT2510, Td-06, gt-ss, other? I've been looking through this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tr...b2-t226235.html and as always everyone has a different opinion. I want response over power - something that will have a good, useable power band for the street/track. I also don't have any other supporting mods atm so will need to look at these depending on what I go for...
  11. Just wanted to comment on what a great looking GTS-t that is, at a good price - The wheels and tyres alone would be worth a chunk of that. I'd buy it off you, but I already have one.... Oh and err, free bump so that this post has some relevance
  12. I posted this photo up in the superlap thread, but I rekcon it warrants another run in this thread, which it fits into nicely...
  13. The only person who knows the actual time before the program airs is the Stig - and he doesn't know how to edit wiki, so its all bullshit atm...
  14. Ok, so if you check the ol' reliable wikipedia its up, but I dunno what to believe. I looked, saw a 1:03 posted, knew it was bullshit and 2 mins later refreshed and it was back to a believable time. I still think I'll wait 'til I see the lap before I believe anything posted on teh intawebz
  15. A few photos I took at the event, more to come later... Good representation from Nissan owners (probably 3/4 of the field). This GTR pushing hard... Mr Boston in the awesome little s2000 Mr Boston proving the batmobile needs a bigger rear wing And an Evo showing when wings dont work very well - when upside down And on the topic of wings, who needs them to fly?
  16. ^Shouldn't be aplogising for those, some good stuff in there. Great day, ran pretty smoothly apart from a few minor incidents (an upside down Evo being one). Good to see alot of great cars being pushed to their limits (and beyond). Lofty, what happened in the shootout? Car or brain failure? Congrats to the lotus boys and HiOctane racing, that GTR is a beast, and very aggressively driven (made for some great photos). Evil, how did QSR stuff up your other sessions? was there oil on the track after he drove the ailing rx7 around for 3/4 of a lap? I don't think he'd done that sort of event before by the looks of things - first lap out he used the drift/motorcycle part of the track in the karting complex... Anyway, I had a good day spectating, will post up some photos later.
  17. This came up a few years ago but never seemed to get off the ground then - lets hope the same thing happens again. As many above have stated, it does nothing for motorsport in NSW except cause resent amongst tenants and over-enthusiatic environmentalists. I reckon we should all write to the Premier's office and Ian McDonald and express our concern - If motorsport enthusiasts don't want it, and nobody else does, where does that leave them? On top of this, the article quotes it could cost $30 million.... for that price we could have half a F1 spec permanent facility, which could be built somewhere more suitable and benefit the state year-round. I just don't get this idea.... oh, and the track is boring - why not run it right through the middle of the stadium and out the other side
  18. I wouldn't do this either - ADRs state that you must have winscreen washers, so if they're not working you can be defected for that too...
  19. Matt, Great photos. I've seen some of your previous stuff on here and dieselstn, your photography has been improving at an awesome rate, keep it up. #14 gets my vote for best action + best capture of the essence of oran park.
  20. Hi I tried to get a similar group buy going last year but couldn't generate enough interest - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Br...l=braKE+upgrade . Good luck, hope yours goes better than mine For what its worth, I ended up buying the kit anyway - although I didn't run the car on the track with the standard brake setup, the new setup was awesome - no brake fade even after continual hard laps, and awesome stopping power all the time. Oh and you've also got fatz undercutting you at the moment in another thread too...

  22. Nice one! Get some 3D ones going too, looks like you know what you're doing... Here's one I posted up a while ago - I took inspiration from the early gibson motorsport paint schemes.
  23. Thanks for the info all. I was hoping we would be getting a proper race track to replace oran when it closes, but 3 driver training tracks are a reasonable compromise. But 1.9kms.... EC's straight is about that
  24. I've got a 580EX I which I got cheap as it was an ex-display model. I haven't tried any of the other models/brands, but I can assure you the 580EX is just awesome. If you're only taking portrait shots you will never find you haven't got enough flash, thats for sure
  25. Thanks Duncan, you're always in the loop it seems And yes, its great to see Bathurst being used more regularly - Will be used in 2008 by FOSC around easter for a race meeting as well, which is further evidence of the changes. I say Bathurst should become Australia's Nurburgring; arrive, pay your 100 bucks, and go whatever speed you dare in what you brought...
