Need Help On Repairing Nismo Lmgt4 Rim.
Spunky Munky replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Yeah good luck mate...I know that a lot of interstate people send their rims to Igore at Steve's Wheels to get fixed...it would cost you around $60 to get the rim down and back but well worth it consider the super pro job that these guys do...honestly, I kid you not, those rims look better than new and they managed to keep the Nismo sticker intact too after repainting. Give him a call and mention you know about what happened to me and he'll help you out and give you tips too! Details regarding pricing are mentioned in my earlier post. Kevin -
Need Help On Repairing Nismo Lmgt4 Rim.
Spunky Munky replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Ha HA hal.....very funny! Of course I told him about the damage...but honestly, the guys at Steve's Wheels did an absolute marvelous job...it's structural very well repaired and looks like new! The guy with the R34 GTR actually bought my rims off Steve's Wheels. Honestly, if I had the cash, I would have kept them...just stretched my budget heaps after the repairs... In regard to pricing...here's what had to be done in a snapshot...after reading this, you'll understand why I had to let them go... Ok, so I bought them off a previous owner for $900. Thought it was a bargain...and they were GTR-spec rims from Ray's with genuine sticker and box etc....spent two days off work driving all around Melbourne - and yes fellas, for the love of my Skyline, I drive to every wheel repairer place that Google and Whitepages had listed...spent like 4 hours a day just driving around...no f**ka would touch it. In the end, I was told by a friend that Steve's Wheels in Sunshine would possibly consider taking this in...so I rocked up and spoke to Igore...he was like "Dude, I cannot promise you anything...damage is pretty bad..." so anyway, I gave him the rim and just prayed for a few days...I finally got the call, was told that the rim was fixed...I quickly drove up during my lunch break and was nearly in tears as the rim was totally fixed...looks absolutely marvelous...apparently he has a contact somewhere interstate that does it and would not give out details...he charged me $550 ($400 to fix damage and $150 to paint) which I thought was a bargain consider a new set of LMGT4's in GTR-spec from Japan would cost around $5,000 plus shipping and the wait time, I was told, would be around 2-4 months as these will have to be made to order from Ray's Engineering Japan. So I paid him the $550 and said that I'd come back with my Skyline and the other 3 rims the following weekend to get them fitted... I arrived nice and early, proudly rolled out my 4 rims and was totally heart-broken when Igore pointed out that another 2 rims had severe inner rim bents...he put the rims onto his wheel balancing/testing machine and sure enough they where 'clunky' and would be very unsafe to drive around on...he rang his contact and was advised that to fix the inner rim of those 2 wheels alone it would cost $400 each then there's paint which would be $150. Now let's do the maths, so I paid $900...then paid $550 = $1,450...now i I were to proceed with the fixing and repainting of the other two rims...it would then cost me an additional $1,100. So all in all, the rims would have cost me $2,550. Yes, still an absolute bargain, but I just couldn't afford the cash. So we I negotiated with Igore was that I would sell my rims to him $1,500 and he would bear all repair costs. So all in all, I basically got my cash back and made a small profit of $600. It was indeed a bargain for him, as it would have cost him $3,150...but I just couldn't afford the repair costs and knew that I wouldn't be able to afford this cost any time soon so I made the decision to sell them off...then a R34 GTR owner came along a few weeks after that and bought them off Steve's Wheels for an undisclosed amount...I've been told it's around the $4,000 mark. Seen it on his cars a few days ago...looked absolutely sexy...no rim looks better on a R34 GTR than the LMGT4's period. Don't know if I buggered up some figures above...but that's basically what happened. So what did I do with my small refund of $1,500? I splashed them on some nice 18 inch deep dish Zumbo rims and called it a day...so I'm ok with what happened to some degree. But let me tell you...when those 4 LMGT4's rims were in my garage...I used to walk out and just stand there looking at them for a few minutes a day...absolutely one of the best looking rims to ever grace a Nis-san Skyline... The end. -

Hey mate....I'm Asian...no Potters in my family...only clothing store owners, restaurant owners and bread shop owners! LOL However, I see your point. Oh well, get that idea won't work for me. Yeah, I'll try it on my own set of indicators...apparently, a few people want to do this so I'll keep everyone posted...I'm going to buy the "Smokey paint" from Autobarn this weekend and will go for my life...will post up pictures and instructions then. Wish me luck! -

Anyone Know Where I Can Get This?!?!
Spunky Munky replied to TUFR34's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Do a search on our SAU forums. There was a bloke from the UK that made them. Personally, I think these badges look a bit shonky to say the least. For a GTS-T or GTT, I'd rather have no badges at all. Much more clean, I've realised. Each to their own of course. -
Clean R33 you got there mate. I like your rims. You should paint your calipers Gold and the car would look great! By the way, what front bar and side skirts do you have on? Looks like 400R style ones, is that right? Kevin

Smoked R33 Gtr Side And Front Indicators.
Spunky Munky replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Ok, so I've bought myself a set of Nismo side and front indicators...cost me over $240. The side ones are already smoked (so I will leave them) - the front ones are just clear...I've been to Autobarn and they actually sell "smoking spray paint." They say if I spray like 5mm away and do it gently, 2 coats should do the trick they'll last like forever...however, I'm just a bit hesitant as I do not want to stuff up my front indicators that cost like $170 a set. So can anyone please give me some tips in regard to spraying? Thanks. SM -
I got sick of my Gold calipers so I decided to go racing red (has a tinge of orange in it) ...hot....damn, I gotta say, Gold looks nice and subtle but racing red is purely sex especially if you have huge calipers like I do on my R33. This is what I did...got grease remover - have it a good clean, then used metal sand paper to side it all down smoothly, then gave it 2 layers of primer...allowing 30 minutes for each coat, then spray 2 layers of the red heat-resistant paint onto the calipers and allowed 45 minutes for each coat. Looked awesome!

Need Help On Repairing Nismo Lmgt4 Rim.
Spunky Munky replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hey mate, yes, managed to fix it...they looked like new...awesome as! However, wasn't cheap and I ended up selling these rims to a R34 GTR owner as he wanted the Z-tune look. Give Igore a call - say Kevin with the black R33 Skyline referred you. I went everywhere...he was the only person that could fix it...
Steve's Wheels & Tyres Pty Ltd
(03) 9311 6204Send this listing to your mobileSunshine North 48 Berkshire Rd Sunshine North VIC 3020 -

Very true mate...and I can certainly vouch for you...so you're having a clearance sale? Got a ad on here for what you're clearing out - if so, can you provide us with a link? I'm keen to see what you got going. Thanks. Kevin -
They will fit fine...if anything will stick out a bit which is great....go for it...R34 GTR rims are hot as! Just make sure you take the GTR centre insert off.

It could be the the wheels, suspension, steering wheel or engine-related. Like others have suggested, go see a mechanic as soon as possible. May prove to be potentially dangerous. Good luck.

Let me put it this way...yes, if you drive a Sports Car you will attract a little more attention from everyone...but if you drive like a total dick, then the Cops will give you special attention too...does this answer your question. Just drive it decently and avoid dick-like behavior and you should be right. If wanna squirt it, do it on a track...the roads are for normal travels not street racing. Done.

Help Required Tcs And Slip Lights On
Spunky Munky replied to Des83's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hi mate, I think it's just the wiring of the switch or a loose hose or wire somewhere. I suggest you either take it to Chasers on Dynon Road in Footscray or RS Performance in Sunshine. Good luck. -

Tyre Black Spat Up Onto Body?
Spunky Munky replied to HairyMerkin's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
The only time I've heard or seen of tyre rubber getting splattered onto the body of a car is when you're doing massive burnouts. If the super-hot rubber has bitten into your paint that you may have to get that area resprayed, however, if it's not as bad you can try one of the following methods: 1. Go and buy a bottle of Turtle's Super Claybar from Repco or Autobarn and use this to rub off the particles on your car AFTER a good car wash - it should come off. Then just wash your car again and it should look normal again and follow it up with a wax job if you want it to shine as new. 2. If you're lazy and want to save some money, go to your kitchen and get some MorningFresh dishwashing detergent and mix it up with some water and washing powder, e.g. Omo washing powder, shake the mixture up well and then with a soft cloth, try to remove the particles off your car and follow it up with a good car wash. I think there is a good chance you can remove these particles. Give it a go and let me know how you go. Good luck. SM -
Recommended Body Kit Suppliers?
Spunky Munky replied to islade's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hey mate, I've bought a few things from you in the past - very happy with the quality. However, like you say, a lot of replica bodykit providers nowadays make very poor quality Fiberglass copies. This is why there are not alot of places that do them anymore. However, I think if you cannot find a good bodykit manufacturer that produces good quality kits, then I suggest you don't stock them anymore. However, PSI parts have always provided good quality items so I know this is not your intention. -

Wow, sounds easy...how many coats of this paint should I apply? I would have guess, about two coats as more it would be too dark? Would you have any pictures? Thanks. SM
